Toyota, non California approved version are tough , cheap and very capable. Had we dropped C10 Chevrolets and Ford F150s they would not have lasted long enough to beat Soviet crap.
used beer cans to make an exhaust silencer lol gotta love it...sure wasnt a huge success, nor did it endure...but an awesome story, and the Koenigsegg/Pagani/Musk of his time as to being a small startup doing big things who sadly wasnt able to be as successful
My friends just bought a RUF 930 and brought it to the place I was.We were racing cars together back then. They said it would be cool if I drove to the next place we were going. So at properly jumped in the front seat of the car, took it down the road I’ve been down 100 times,in other cars that were fast also. I said watch this and jumped it over the railroad tracks right before a sweeping left-hand corner that I had done many times in other cars. When we hit the ground, lol, the rearend and the back tires went off the road a little bit. I countered steered and I drove it through the corner with the Excelerator Holding my line and hoping when I pulled up on the asphalt we would be OK. That is not what happened. At the place where I was coming back up onto the asphalt there was about a 4 inch rise above the grass. The car jumped up just enough to loosen the rear end And turned around backwards in a split second and backed into the front end of a lady coming in the other direction. Crushing her car to pieces. Luckily, we all walked away. The two cars were totaled. Last time I ever drove a Porsche.
One of the finest video productions I have seen... I may be late to the show, but am I really glad that the algorithm put you on my suggested vids. Love the channel, love the devotion and the experience as a whole ! It's just what my car enthusiast side needed.
I concur!. The 959 is the GREATEST CAR ever made!. I remembered reading a magazine article (when I was young) about some journalists test driving this car in the autobahn where they overtook 20 cars at 186mph! And other story where a German doctor with a 928 V8 engined Beetle was cruising at 155Mph on the autobahn at night when he saw two bright lights approaching him fast on his rear view mirror. Sweat drips from his forehead as he floored it to 165mph and those 2 lights passed him like he was doing 40mph. It was a Blue and a White 959 racing!.
My older brother was racing against John Brittens bike in Daytona (Battle of the Bears) 1991 with his Ducati 888 (finnishing 7-th place) He called me from Florida to Sweden (where we live) and was furios about the Britten V-1000 "homemade" bike that allmost won the race! After that he met John Britten in Assen/Netherlands a couple of times some year or two after that.He say that John was a true gentleman and a very good mecanic and designer.Who knows what happend if a such great man as J.B could have lived longer.????
Hura, hura der Pumukl ist da! Hilarious start to a great video. I grew up with that stuff. First the Pumukl and then the Porsche products. Never owned one but knew everything about them! While I agree about the importance of the 959, it is not the single most important supercar. Why?? Glad you asked - because it is not merely one pinnacle car. The story of supercars is a story of several supercars. E-Type, Miura, 512 BBi, 288 GTO, F40, McLaren F1 etc.
I'd own an NS-X in a heartbeat. Didn't like them to start off, but they've really grown on me to the point where I don't compare them to Imports, I compare them to Supercars. One of the best designed cars ever
You know that old Roll Bar in the back of my 1985 Straight axle has not been put to use much. Think I'll fabricate something to mount a drum fed AR-15. Good practice for AR10 or Omen in 300 Winchester Magnum. LCE Engine. Trail gear transmission and 7:1 transfer case. It can crawl or scoot.
I love the intro, but to say all those achievements that came before the viper was what was just leading up to the viper is ridiculous. As if those other achievements arent as significant as making a car😂.
I was invited to go see the US supply of 959s at Holberts Porsche in Pennsylvania and ride in one around the parking lot where they were impounded but Al Holbert was killed that week so the visit was canceled.
