I ran into this video I can Definity say, 4k does not look great downscaled. Upclose it looks less pixelate and smoother, but when looked at zoomed out it makes the image to smooth and loses its sharpness the "pixelated" normal 1080p has. I would only use 4k for zoom in shots for 1080p.
I'm a little confused because for the first set of tests, 4k to 1080p was on the left, and 1080p on the right, and I would have given it to the 1080p. But then when you switched positions of the 1080p being on the left, and 4k being on the right and started zooming in, I'd give it to 4k. I am wondering if your initial labeling wasn't accidentally reversed?
Its obvious that the Samsung is the better camera despite resolution. It would make much more sense to use the same camera but one recording in hd and another one recording in 4k... Im using a full 4k screen and if i change the video resolution to 1080p you can still see more detail in the 4k video... one because its a better camera and two because a lot of it is more about the recording, the actual amount of detail captured that is more important than the screen resolution you play it back on... if you are sat at a distance where you cannot see the actual pixels, then you wont see the difference between the two.

You guys are all blind and just want to justify your purchase of a 4K monitor/TV lol There clearly isn't that much of a difference unless you are going to put your face against your monitor/TV at all times.
Dammit I actually thought 4k compressed to 1080p the colors looked slightly washed out than original 1080p, based on that I could have bought a 1080p ust projector instead of a 4k ust to save a few grand until I saw the comments. Please fix or delete this video even though the idea behind this was noble 🙏
Thanks Dylan, this was a good video comparison. The visual difference between the two are quite distinguishable. The swap was a nice touch (even if done by accident) to eliminate any bias. It does not diminish the integrity.
