I was a focus puller( before there was hi resolution screen to pull focus from ...you had to use your eye ball and tape marks) for 7 years before moving up to camera operator. It is one of the mose difficult under appreciated jobs in the film and tv industry. Thank you Paul for this very kind tribute to the art and craft of focus pulling.
I used to watch this ad on loop when I was a child, because I had an admiration for how everything was layed out and all interacting with each other. I'm so glad you did a video on this, because I've been wanting to know how they did it for years.
Cars are missing that shake from an engine maybe put something inside the models that vibrates them? Not to be too literal but an egg might do the trick
This is very very well done like super well you sir are talented and can see the passion absolutely love it. Subscribed for sure like and commented like this is so good.
The only thing that always confused the hell out of me was the tires rolling up the ramp. I remmember being like, "That's not how physics work!" Only to find that it can be done with a weight placed inside the tire that is heavy enough to overcome the incline. Genius! That being said this is hands down the finest commercial ever made.
Phenomenal job!! As a fellow filmmaker that has done years of miniature work: some suggestions, if you will, if not you can move on.. You need more wide angle shots of the full cars, people want to see the cars. More twists, turns bumps, traffic dodges, city interaction, pedestrians, break signs, hit cones, show some car damage, sparks, suspension movement, other cars crash, do a jump or two. One other thing, the brightness of the headlights would really sell the scale of it, and blend the model with the background. I don't mean to nitpick, I can just tell you're a person that strives for perfection.
using videogame engines to shoot city shots on an LED TV is pretty awesome tech to steal from the big movie industry. Kudos for the creativity and the balls to do it on your own.
Fucken HELL....had I not seen the "making of" it would have taking me longggggggg while to catch on! Job WELL done...Christ, there are some really talented people out there! SUB CCONFIRMED!
All in all an amazing project result, allmost nothing broke it for me. Just one little detail i might want to add, the drift at the beginning was kinda off for me. A little too close and too many cuts, would have worked better if it was a single angle shot at a little more distance so the drift would have been in full view. Many cuts in a single scene signal to me that it wasn´t a proper maneuver, like in martials arts movies many cuts in one movement are used to hide the fact that the actor actually doesn´t know how to fight. But that was the only thing, the rest was amazing, One other thing just in case u do something like that again for a little tik more realism cars don´t maintain parallell positions evenly during a chase. they gain a few inches and lose a few inches and gain them again, but that didn´t effect this chase for me, wouldn´t probaly notice even if i didn´t know how the chase sequence was made, but maybe it is something to think about doing something similar in the future :) Anyways very well done.
Im gobsmacked with the result. After seeing title of the video I was not sure if I want to see it, but bro. Your creativity and capability to forge it into existence is just unreal. Thank you for stretching my world view and have a good day
One of the coolest things I’ve seen on you tube. An excellent explanation, thoroughly thinking through the transformations and providing a provocative product in your panoramic pursuit of pretend prognosticators. Well done sir.
Lots of hard work, time and money spent to make these insane shots come true, but my wife would miss it because of sleeping during the movie.😭 such a disrespect to filmmakers.😡
Personally I find these kinds of 'impossible' shots tacky. When it happens I'm no longer invested in the story or characters, it makes me aware of the fact that I'm sitting in a chair staring at a screen watching people play pretend. I believe that the viewer should never be aware of the camera at all.
This looks better than i could ever hope to accomplish! The main giveaways for me were the projector lights on the cars, the lack of suspension roll, and them driving in straight lines so often. I wonder if filming them in slow motion would help scale up the physics.
oh wow never thought one can use small scale cars to do a car chase scene😆..... well done! I loved it I'm a big fan of car chase scenes in movies... and off course muscle cars 🥰 especially the ford mustang my favorite car 😊 what was funny the mustache dude 😂 ....... thanks for sharing this video.....😉
