THE KINGS OF FRANCE is a youtube channel which puts its main focus on French Kings, Queens and their Entourage. We also take a regular look at other European Royal houses, and take the occasional sidesteps to other famous historical figures.
I am open to suggestions and would love to hear about the topics you'd like to see videos on !

Philippe in Versailles, Season 3 Episodes 3 and 4 " But I saw a Man in an Iron Mask". Philippe was also the name of the character of the "Man in the Iron Mask" movie. He was perhaps a secret the King Louis and his men didn't want to reveal.
The Bourbon kings of France, from the Capetians, from the Carolingian dynasty, from the Merovingian dynasty, from the Franks, from the Teutons, from the Bastarnians, and the Skiri from the Sarmatians, have been linked to the character of the Persian epic, Shahnama (Salam), who is Salam bin Afridun bin Aptiyan bin Jamshid bin Bhujahan bin Abhar bin Hoshang bin Garwal bin Siamak bin Misha. Bin Kayumarth bin Lawdh bin Sam bin Noah, peace be upon him Perhaps the name Franja was taken from the name of Frank (Umm Afridoun), the daughter of Tahur, king of the island of Salé in the Magdin Sea. Thank you for this video as the series of Versailles introduced me to a Philippe I had never come across. I think he is a complex but enjoyable man. I imagine he would throw great parties!!!
The most interesting facts are are omitted. She was so proud that considered Louis as her only match. She refused to merry english and Portugee kings, willing to be a french queen . She was ridiculously obsessed with her grandeur and ended up as a laughing stock in Court after falling fir one count 10 years younger then her and begged the King to allow this marriage. The King and mme Montespan (who thought to be her friend) made her to bequest her riches to their son in return for her wish to be fulfilled but blinded by her love obsession she failed to see his true intentions. Eventually she learned that she was being milked by him. Lots of drama. Died lonely and childless.
Wait.....Henri and Margaret had their marriage annulled???? I thought she died and he was a widower when he married Maria. He basically got the throne because of his marriage to her She was the last Valois heir! How did he pull this off without a revolt? Well, I mean he WAS assassinated.
The man who attempted the assassination of Louis XV experienced a painful execution. He wasn’t beheaded but was tied to horses who galloped in opposite directions. Was this true?
There have always been rumours that Ernestine Lambriquet was Louis XVIs child with Madame de Lambriquet. He and Marie Antoinette adopted the child, who reportedly looked a lot like him. There were also rumours that the Dauphin (Louis XVII) was actually the son of Axel von Fersen and Marie Antoinette. Since we have the heart of Louis XVII in St.Denis Basilica, maybe DNA testing would clarify this?
Maybe what happened in 1918 is karma for what had happened to Anna Leopoldovna and her family. Anna may not have been a good regent/ruler but her son Ivan VI is the rightful heir and reading what had happened to her family is heartbreaking. One question will always remain, is Paul I even fathered by Peter III ??? There were allegations that he is actually fathered by one of Catherine's lovers. If that allegation is true, it means that none of the known Romanovs today are even true Romanovs. Hence, none have a rightful claim to the throne. In spite of everything, Nicholas II and his family were made "Holy Martyrs" all while people forget bout what had happened to poor Ivan VI and his family. Ivan VI and his family should be made holy martyrs by the Orthodox church so that history will not treat them as a shadowy part of it.
The problem of this Empire Royal Family of Turkmenistan Turkish is meddle in is other family.. Turkish to Argentina.. and Turkish to Beijing.. and Turkish to Europea.. and Turkish to America..
Just read on the wiki that Claude had down syndrome ...there appears to be historians that agree based on her appearance. I personally dont think she was. Seems made up. Do you know anything about this? I think it is ..a bit out there.

Hi! I'm from Talavera la Real, Badajoz, Spain. Eleanor of Austria died in TALAVERA LA REAL (a village next to Badajoz). She travelled to Badajoz because she wants to meet with her husband María there. María declined this meeting. Eleanor, I'll and broken with pain, returned to Yuste with Carlos V and, when she travelled through Talavera la Real, she became very sick and, after 3 days in this village, she died. Every years, in October, we (the residents of Talavera La Real) put on a play the last days of Eleanor of Austria in Talavera La Real in many places of the village. Hope this information were useful to you ☺️.
Thanks for this video. I have been doing some family research. My surname is Guise but im english so i wanted to know if there was any vonnection so this was super interesting.
It's absolutely possible that it was not a suicide. He warned people he was in danger. Some Political factions did not like him because they considered him dangerously liberal. And the story that you hear of what really happened is the story they made up- possibly Or they really did unalive themselves willingly:/ I never 100% trust the narrative that's given for anything. There's always a chance it's not true
Maïwenn just wanted to play her dream (or relive a former life?). That's why the actress in the film (movie) has no resemblance to Madame du Barry at all. Mme du Barry was exceptionally beautiful for her time and more than 20 years younger than this actress was when she played the role. I don't like the film for that reason. If you try to re-enact, re-enact, don't do your narcissist thing. A narcissist can't stand someone else being more admired. On the other hand, if you have the money and the crew, why not film your own dream role? In itself, as such, it is an enjoyable movie, and very well done at that, but I do not watch it with the idea that it has anything to do with a re-enactment of the life of Mme du Barry.
Let's not forget that he was surrounded by gay pedophiles and murderers. Particularly, the Chevalier was a known pedophile and woman hater, and formed a group whose amusements included raping and killing women and children.

I learned about this guy from reading Casanova. Yet your video did not describe the details of the execution with nearly any detail and this I find it grossly lacking in substance
"Courtesan" by Diane Haeger is the book that got me hooked on this famous love between Diane and Henri. I highly recommend it as a read!! Thank you for doing this video! 💓
Another great video. Just 2 minutes ago,I was finally able to watch Jeanne Du Barry, rented on fandango. I thought it was beautiful, and she was treated terribly. Merci mon ami.still studing french and your wonderful videos. Ca va?
Hi Gina, I apologize for being absent but I have been dealing with personal things. I hope you are well. I hope by november to slowly start up work on the channel again. Keep well !
@TheKingsofFrance wonderful. Can't wait for more videos. Everything is fine with me. Miss you. Will be looking forward to the new ones. Still enjoying the ones u have made. Take care. 💖
Thank you for this informative video! You have a very nice calming voice. 😊 Maybe try talking a bit slower as my English isn’t first language and there is a lot of information on the video? I often have to rewind it to understand fully. It is very interesting to learn about these less popular royals. Maria Theresa certainly deserves to be better remembered!
