Nick, love your videos brother. Good job! Hey, I just installed the non hemi tillotson 225rs head on my tillotson 212 and it rips! Great upgrade and would be an awesome video idea. It only requires the 225 head and the 225 pushrods, 5.275-5.280. It will use the same head gasket as you have been using on your Tilly 212. Thanks again

@Deucealive75
@Deucealive75 25 дней назад
Is that a 50 tooth sprocket you have? That should be ample gearing with a Juggernaut driver. I just find it difficult to believe you would have belt slip at that speed. And you should continue tuning. If you are sitting at idle then heavy throttle the thing there's no way that would empty the bowl. What you were doing there seemed a lean bog. You should get better response than that from any slide carb. I do know what you mean with full throttle from a dead stop. I can't do that with my gearing. What I do is more of a rolling start or from a 5 mph or so coast. Then I could hammer the thing full throttle and get good response and acceleration. I still have to position forward on the seat to keep the front tire down.
@nszabados
@nszabados 25 дней назад
@@Deucealive75 thanks for the tips! i feel like my weight plays a factor in the gearing also. i’m 6’1 212lbs so im assuming the bike doesnt like the weight and gearing. but yeah im definitely going to look into tuning again, because it could be running better. these slides carbs tune different from a slide carb so im still working it out

Funny you ask. Just tonight I pulled the 196 off my bike and put the 224 back on. I did one top speed run a couple years ago with the 224 and it topped out at 5600 RPM. Speed calc says 52 MPH. That was with a bored stock carb. I'll see how it runs now with a VM22 clone. Should be fun to tune. Nice job on your engine. I'd bet it would be faster with different gearing. But the gearing you have now should be very good for off road.

Very cool. I did similar earlier this year. I used a stock 196 with a VM22 clone and header pipe with a mini 91 silencer. Nothing else. Ran it on my Coleman with a torque converter and 9/60 gearing. Ran well with a 120 main but I didn't run it to top speed. Fun bike and made me wonder why I did engine builds. For the flywheel in the ad they say advanced ignition but are not specific. Those are timed to around 18 degrees. Your bike might be a touch faster with a 10 degree key. I have a couple of those and timed them to 32 degrees with a timing wheel and no key. I've only ran one of my 196's to top speed. It went to 47 MPH topping out right at 5K RPM with the above-mentioned gearing. That was a mild build. CL1 cam and Champion rockers. Had a stock carb at the time.
