I'm a bit out of the loop... are people just now realizing backing tracks are a thing? I mixed Adele at a private concert for Philip Anschutz's son’s wedding at Sea Island Resort in 2017. She lip-synced the entire performance using a wireless SKM 500-935 that wasn’t even powered on. I did soundcheck with the orchestra and ballet dancers, and what you heard that day was the exact product I sent to Christian Anschutz’s ears that night. No live vocals; orchestra was real but backed by synth pads and other elements. Backing tracks are used to reinforce the live sound and carry the layers and FX the producer used to finalize the song. The band still has to put those tracks together before they even step on stage. It’s a tool of the trade for countless artists. Heck, go ask your worship leader about multitracks next Sunday :)
Wait... the band isn't tuned down a half step? Are you telling me there's something to these vocal techniques Ken has been teaching all these years? Side note: When are we getting KT Kemper Profiles? I need some Dancing on a Volcano Dual Rec :)
The way he so smoothly comes down from head voice, through chest voice and then into a breathy whisper voice all while performing a flawless descrescendo is soooo much more mindblowing than those high notes. That's just GORGEOUS, I can't get over it!
I will tell you I am just a hobby singer but after just one freaking lesson I could sing a whole lot better I never used or sang metal before. My people were in shock!😂
It funny tho, but ! Ken you aint gotta take this shizz from Noodle batman who can't spell Phil. 🤘🦁 Your teachings work. And i've never spent a penny just soaked up what i can from stalking you 😂 and i mean this literally because i don't perform but thanks to you sir "i can enjoy my voice. Without losing it. thank you man, well said tho👏👏👏 on all points. We get fact from you. We know this.
The dude is a chump with nothing better to do than put people down. The mere fact that the man erases comments that doesn't fit his narrative..... SPEAKS VOLUMES.... I hope your lawyers eat him for breakfast and save the leftovers for the dogs.
Tamplin Shout too good. Brings back alot of memories listening for the first time Christian Contemporary Hard Rock. Thank you Ken Tamplin and band. Keep it rocking for Christ!
I have followed Ken for a while now. I am a musician myself. And I can tell you that I hold Ken in the HIGHEST regard as both a musician and a person. His music board and singing school is top quality. The man goes into depth about singing and music. There is no way Ken would fake anything. he simply has NO reason to do so. He has the talent and he also has high integrity.
gonna list some legendary singers from philippines: hollywood: lea salonga(disney/broadway singer, singing voice of princess jasmine from alladin and singing voice of fa mulan). fro those who says that there are no talented composer from philippines: freddie aguilar (composer and singer of the song "anak" which means child where this song is translated to so many different languages around the world during the year 1978, take note in that era it is so hard to import music across the country due to lack of technology that time but it was so popular that other countries translated it to their language...) choir: madrigal singers ( 2x world champion European Grand Prix, a 1st in the world) and there are so many more
Do another Cinderella song for your next video. Clearly anyone who can break down exactly how Tom Keifer sings (by singing it himself with no accompanying music) can friggin sing and doesn't need to lip sync. What a ridiculous claim. As far as backing tracks, who cares if bands use them? I’m so sick of people complaining about it. I saw some comments about Def Leppard. Anyone who thinks they don’t use backing tracks is delusional. The way some of their most popular songs were recorded, - there is no way that could be replicated live. Its layers upon layers of vocals. And that’s fine. Backing tracks do not equal miming. Sheesh.
I think anyone that gets to see Ken Tamplin and Shout in 2024 is just incredibly lucky. Any time any of these bands, that were such inspirational role models to teenagers like me, take the stage in 2024, it's just an awesome and beautiful thing.
Hey Ken! Could you please make a video discussing about the new Linkin Park singer Emily? I think she is not suitable for LP and in fact she is struggling and hurting her vocal chords
Phil Henley, also known as Wings of Pegasus, has released three videos mocking Ken. However, Phil seems to lack any talent and goes straight for "shock value" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vm8FbemZXiY.html

Ken I respect the way you just handled that. I myself don’t believe in using tracks on ANYTHING. 100% LIVE ALL THE WAY. But to each his own my way is my way and another’s way is theirs. I just think it’s a messed up world when this thing I call “Devil In A Box” aka The Internet can stir up so much horseshit.
Hi Ken, I really loved your performance at Immortal Fest. Yes, I heard backing tracks. Big deal it enhanced it. All groups do it. Some of the critics are being ridiculous, and my wife thinks they're jealous of your success. One guy goes as far as dub your voice with Micky mouse. Or tweek to sound stupid. It just shows his stupidity.
Well, you could’ve fooled me. I was about 1 foot from Ken on stage during the live show and spent every day at rehearsal with him over four hours a day for three days straight. No lip syncing there. Why don’t these guys just challenge Ken to singing contest? My money is on Ken. I believe the message here is strong coming from Ken. It’s amazing to me how tall people are on the Internet. God bless you, Ken, you’re the real deal and I’ve been watching it for decades. Keep up the good work
Ken is awesome! I’ve followed his career since the first SHOUT album came out in the 80’s. He’s the real deal and I’m glad you have commented about this, Scott. The naysayers need to stop these false accusations. God bless you and Ken!
Ken ... and all. I have been working in the video industry for 34, going on 35 years. I've worked with and made friends with a variety of professionals in the industry. This includes some high end sound engineers doing BIG Stadium / Arena concerts for some of the biggest in Rock, Metal, Country and Pop. Almost EVERY single artist / band records their sound track... using different methods by the way, sometimes to test the acoustics of the venue, and they actually do a walk though of different parts of the venue. IMO it's pointless to do in an empty stadium or arena, because the sound is all over the place. The timing and even distance of the speakers are clocked in milliseconds. I think Ken is very aware of this, as he seems very astute in sound engineering. Side note ... One of my favorite all-time bands from childhood to college years was the Rolling Stones. I got to see them for the first time during their Steel Wheels tour about 35 years ago. Actually I believe it was in October in NYC. To this date it was one of the worst live shows I ever saw. Mick's vocals were not good at all. I'm not sure if it was because it was in the old Shea Stadium where the Mets used to play, or what. It sounded awful. Now I would say it was acoustics, but ... Living Color sounded great. Flash forward to 1998, and I met Keith Richards for the 2nd time. First time was briefly at a NYC club in 1987. I mentioned to Keith about the Shea Stadium show. He bluntly said... sometimes it's better to use tracks. It was a killer tour, and he didn't want to mention names, but he said going back and forth between NYC .. LA ... and back to NYC took a lot out of them. Not saying this situation is similar. It's just very common practice as Ken said. In the age of autotune, and other voice and instrument software help. I don't have one opinion one way or the other. I already know some of the biggest performers at huge stadium shows and festivals around the world mime some parts, or lip-sync, whatever you want to call it. If Ken can bring out some "Robert Plant", "Janis Joplin" or "Mariah Carey" hidden inside some of his clients... GREAT! It's more important that he can teach. That is what KTVA is all about. Me? I had my days, failing as the next Geoff Tate over 30 years ago. It was all for fun. I just enjoy watching Ken's videos now. It's part nostalgic and part inspiring with the talents of some of his clients like Gabbi and the rest. It's about him teaching. Raw Talent into Refined Talent. He's not a miracle worker, and if you don't have the raw talent to work with it will not matter. Not every guitarist is Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen and Eddie Van Halen. It just doesn't work that way. That is my peace on this whole messed up slander. Rock on Ken. If you mask your live vocals doing live shows with a little help ... that is fine with me. I've paid hundreds to see live concerts of major acts, detecting a bit of lip syncing. Heck ... 90% of pop acts dancing like lunatics on stage without losing their vocal control singing. Ya Right! Sorry for the long winded comment. I'm just sick of seeing this anti-Ken videos on my recommended viewing list.
Usually, the toughest, and most confident person in the room doesn't pick fights. They dont have to. They walk away. It's beneath them, as they've nothing to prove. Side bar question, and I hope you dont mind me asking; but are you still involved in ministry work, or has the vocal intruction/coaching, and performing, taken all of your time?
These critics are questionable what is there motive and resume? The language and techniques used to criticize Ken’s work have wobbly legs. Also who are theses critics? In 1987 I graduated from the Grove school of music completed a dual programm. Piano performance and composing music for film and television. After graduation I met Ken and went on tour with him. When I returned I found myself working with Ken on the next six records acting as keyboardist and tracking engineer. So I can tell you this. You say he can’t sing live. Bullshit I saw him do it dozens of times and I heard what was on the headphones live track list. Only background vocals. He never had problems and I have seen him do it with a flu no problem. If there there is any honest person in this world he may be one of them. Ken is the hardest working and most fair and honest person I ever worked with. Again compare track record and resume with Ken and the critics. I side with Ken.
