These swirls were a frequent accompaniment for afternoon G&T. Not any more. Pastry reluctant to unroll. Cinnamon spread thin to cover. Didn't remain tightly rolled when cooked. More chewy pastry. We will not be buying them ever again unles we see a lot of favourable reviews. 👎👎🥱
Dont know what I done wrong but set the oven to 200c like instructed, made the edges like shown, layed pastry on top, brushed with egg but all that happened was it browned without rising. just ended up burned and crisp,awful?
Nowhere as good as the old ones. Messy to make and roll and you can't roll them tightly so they come apart when cooked and dry up. Worst thing Jus roll did was change these. I regularly bought the old ones but won't be buying these new ones again.😔
Just opened a box to make and it is obvious they are trying to save money. There is way less dough and most certainly not enough to get 6 decent swirls from. Then the fact that you have to now cut thinner slices and the cinnamon paste is now not set due to the fact it now has to be spread and re rolled. Made it messy and were being pulled apart as you slice. Sorry but putting 'new allergen' on the front of the packaging...you should put 'new smaller, self assemble'. As people who have always bought them, will buy them assuming they were ready rolled and a decent size. It is sneaky tbh.
Appreciate this because I am so intimidated by this product. And it's been in my freezer waiting for me to try it out. I really want to make spinach or apricot and feta triangles. The sheets I have are much larger. So maybe I'll cut them in half. But I don't understand how to keep them damp. Which is what all the recipes suggest. I'll also be using wax paper instead of plastic wrap because we stopped using plastic film.
These used to be so good when they were already rolled up with the filling inside. All that needed doing was slicing them. But now they are not only messy to make but they don't stay rolled up tightly when baked. Why did they change them. Cost cutting no doubt.
Made mince pies a few weeks ago for the first time even made my own short crust pastry. They came out ok and where delicious. I used shop brought fruit mince. It still did a good job will make another batch soon.
