just bought a 96 royal star 1300. sat for a while so front calipers are seized. the calipers have 4 bolts, not 2. i removed 2 and then started on the 3rd and brake fluid started leaking so i replaced the bolt. what is the proper way to remove the caliper so i can free up the pistons.
My bike was acting funny today. When I shifted 2nd and 3rd gear I pressed the gas and it had a 2 second delay befor it grabbed and speed up. I hope clutch is not going out
I have a 97 Yamaha Royal Star or Road Star (I got both I just forget which I am working on at the moment..) Does the transmission take any fluid or does it work off of the engine oil? If so how do I check it?
Hey, just so you know you’ve actually missed one of the oil drain plugs, there are three drain plugs, the main one under the oil tank, and then there’s one directly behind the kickstand, and then there is one just behind the oil filter, and then the oil filter drain.
Nice job. Changed the clutch on a '01 650 vstar a while ago. Ugly job where everything from the corroded exhaust manifold nuts to the foot rest and rear brake pedal, engine side covers with oil filter and gaskets had to come out. Made the job much longer.
Notice the clutch access. No need to remove saddlebags or seats or gas tanks or any plastic or fairings. Try replacing your clutch on the side of the road or in the parking lot of the motel you stayed in parking lot using just your tour kit tools on a Goldwing.. This is the main reason I do not own a Goldwing, but I am on my third Yamaha Venture right now. Serviceability
Just did this on my 07 Royal Star tour deluxe. It's a pretty straightforward job. Folks if you want to keep your pipes oil free, shake of the excess oil when removing the clutches and clutch plates from the container you soak them in overnight. Also, wrap that part of your exhaust with saranwrap to keep the oil off of it. Just don't forget to remove it after. I'm happy with the clutch upgrade, it has a better throttle response when you accelerate. It pulls a bit harder than it did with the stock clutch.
Dude...I have the same bike. I have problems. Dunno WTH but I'll figger them out. Pretty sure I need another motor. Might be cheaper. Liked you video, any info about these "Sleeper Ninja's" is helpful. They under rated these machines. Mine does 168mph with throttle to spare!!😁 might be why it rattles. Like you said...bad maintenance prior to purchase, buns me out! Take care bro, I'll fix it! Keep up the good info page.
I'm about to change my break so I thank you for this video, I had scraping noise and then when I put pressure on the back brake the brake pedal start bucking back at me so I think one of the pads is loose.
I like watching videos about our bikes and to check out different ways of doing things. I liked the way you explained everything with detail and in a clear manner. That music in the background was pretty nice too. Keep making videos as good as this one. Have a great year
