Hi Joe Walmach, it's been a year since you bought your Royal Star Venture. Do you still have it and if you do Hows it been doing for you. I to have an 07 Venture, I've had it a year and two months. although i had to replace the Axle Gear Case Assy, which the previous owner didn't keep the gear oil and components properly oiled and greased like he was supposed to. I didn't realize it was that bad until it started whining and popping and knew there was something wrong. since the new part it's been a great bike. was wondering if you've had any trouble with yours since you've owned it.

just a suggestion, if you leave the bike on sidestand only while draining you will leave old oil in sump......I let it drain till it stops then sit on bike to level it out to finish draining for a minute or two and get more oil out.

Even if someone knows how to change their own oil, each bike and model is a bit different. It's nice to see how it's done on another model to see if there is anything interesting involved. The V Star 1100 oil change comes to mind when I say interesting quirks, since the exhaust has to come off to change it. I've changed my oil regularly (2016 V Star 1300 Tourer) close to the 4,000 mile mark, but never over, and only ever used conventional 10W 40. Working on 35,000 miles in the last 20 months, and it's still running real strong.
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 лет назад
Yes I agree every bike oil filter is in a different location just like the vstar 1100 you mentioned the filter is internal by the exhaust pipes. The exhaust pipes needs to be loosen up and moved over to the side or install a relocation oil kit on the vstar 1100.

I got a bad sound this morning after my new used '99 venture turned over three times and then sounded like it siezed up. It was a sickening sound like something had already broke, sending the rod into something and stopping the turn. But why on startup, and no warning? I'm hoping someone recognizes this; I just got it without warranty and don't have the bux to fix major problems.

Hi Frank, I'm hoping you can help, im confused over the oil. I have the exact same bike,been in colour, The previous owner said to me that 10/40 semi synth sae was what he had been changing his oil with. You are putting in (20/50 I think) and the manufactures say 10/30 sae or se semi synth. If you have a moment would you give me some advice on the oil as it's driving me crazy. Best Wishes. Jay, UK. Thank You.
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 лет назад
jay morris yes I use 20 / 50 synthetic oil. The difference between the 10 / 40 synthetic and the 20 / 50 synthetic oil is the viscosity thickness of the oil. Basically if you have a brand new bike you'll want to use the 10 / 30 synthetic oil weight is more thinner so it flow faster thru a new engine. Now the 20 / 50 synthetic oil weight is more thicker oil and it's used on older motors it flows and seals better on older motor if your motor has higher mileage or 10 years older like mine use the higher viscosity. Thanks for watching and commenting also subscribed for future helping videos.

Do you recommend 20 w50 like you're using? I've heard 10 w40 is also used. Does it depend on climate? I always used the 20 w50 in my big V-twins, but the Royal Star is a V-4, so I'm not sure which to use. Thanks for the video.

I wasn't sure how to ask this since I could not fund a place to message or email you. recently my 2005 royal star venture started acting like is is low or out of fuel when you roll on the throttle, it is slugging then it takes off time. I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and plugs, before I start into the carbs, have you personally ever had this issue of know anyone who has? Thanks, Michael
@franklisatravels9651

I would first check air filter for dirtiness, also check for air leaks around rubber hoses and caps around carburetor or check air intake manifold for cracks may be leaking also.

Question, what type of oil do you use? I have had a recent issue with high rpm clutch slippage and research shows it can be the oil type used in my 2005 Yamaha RSV only has 18 thousand miles and never had the issue before, any help would be great thanks!
@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 лет назад
Michael Owens I've heard on some venture's original clutch start slipping around 17,000 to about 25,000 miles. Also when your rpms are getting higher then 2000 around 70 miles that's your first clue that your clutch is starting to go bad and needs replacement. You can watch my video on replacing your clutch. I use Castrol synthetic 20/50 and always change at 5000 miles all the time. Thanks for your comment and hope that will help you.

@franklisatravels9651
@franklisatravels9651 6 лет назад
Phillip Vazquez well first you could check the air pressure on the back shock and see if it holds air pressure. Never add air with a air compressor you will blow your shock seals and that will cost over $ 400.00 to replace. On the right side of the bike between the rider seat and the right side yard bag there should have a air inlet looks like the tire type. You could only use a airshock pump to add air.. ( never never use a air compressor to add air.)
