We're just waiting for Frank to do is how to video on putting nitrous on his bike ;) followed by the how-to video on how to do a reverse wheelie where you ride on the front wheel lol
Great video no BS straight to work and just what people need to know without misleading them on other shit. Thanks for taking your ti.e to help people like this.
About 2 years ago I bought a 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe. Although it doesn't do anything wonderfully well and doesn't have tons of power, the entire package is just so satisfying to ride, to look at and to work on. I've come to the conclusion that my favorite bike is the one I feel most comfortable on, in control of and that does what I need my bike to do. For me, it's my Royal Star. Since purchasing, I've replaced all the fluids, changed the tires three times and just replaced my brakes. Although I am not (yet) experiencing clutch slip, I plan to do the Barnet clutch spring conversion. Great bikes !! Great videos, too. Thanks for the useful information !! And I love the relaxing music … be safe out there !!
Rob, my bike was not a whiner but I’ve heard that some of them were. Something to do with the clutch basket, I understand. There’s lots of info online ... here’s something I just found: startouring.org/forums/topic/2005-royal-star-tour-deluxe-clutch-whine/
Good luck !! I loved my Royal Star but sold it recently (after 3 years) to get a bike I’ve wanted since 2014. A Yamaha Raider. Then I bought a Versys 300. The Versys is my new favorite bike and I’m unlikely to ever go back to a heavy bike (besides my Raider). However, that Royal Star was an awesome bike that I loved ... just couldn’t pass up the deal on my Raider. Be safe !!
Thanks Frank. Your videos are great. I have a 06 Royal Star Tour Deluxe. Pretty much the same bike. Your oil change video was my tutorial. Changed my oil just like you did, 30mins tops. I'll be putting on new breaks in the spring and again using your video. So thanks a lot man. Very helpful.
I'm about to change my break so I thank you for this video, I had scraping noise and then when I put pressure on the back brake the brake pedal start bucking back at me so I think one of the pads is loose.
to avoid issues with second side all you have to do is once 1st side is done pump brake handle to expand 1st side thisa will relieve the pressure backup you were facing.. just proceed with 2nd side as first.. done ... and get back to some wind therapy
just bought a 96 royal star 1300. sat for a while so front calipers are seized. the calipers have 4 bolts, not 2. i removed 2 and then started on the 3rd and brake fluid started leaking so i replaced the bolt. what is the proper way to remove the caliper so i can free up the pistons.
Thanks for your how to video. You’re right about what they charge versus doing it yourself. Did you use double H sintered or semi sintered pads? If double H, did the pad eat thru the rotors, quicker? Jesse
To avoid the problem with pressure buildup in the brake lines, how about just removing the cover from the master cylinder and wrapping a clean rag around it to prevent fluid from dripping on anything?
yes you could remove the master cylinder cover to avoid pressure buildup. Instead of putting a rag around it you may remove some brake fluid out while pushing the piston back. thanks for your comment.....
@@franklisatravels9651 ..."you may remove some brake fluid out while pushing the piston back." That's what Kevin was talking about when he said "wrapping a clean rag around it to prevent fluid from dripping on anything". Removing the cover "allows" excess fluid to escape. Using the "clean rag" prevents possible contamination of the master cyl....AND protects your paint and 'other stuff' from getting "eaten".
Hi Frank I really like your videos on replacing different parts on your bike. The only complaint I have is once in a while you hear jets flying by at the same time you are talking.Sorry to say but those jets landing or taking off are louder than you.
Larry Poulin yea that's true but I can't help it I live 2 miles from airport and right on the flight path. Just bought and external microphone and see if that help on the new video... thank for watching and commenting..
BigBadLoneWolf haven't thought about those using those calipers but will take a look at them. I did leave the anti squeal shims off on these brake pads, I've used them on my other bike and they never squeal at all so that's why I left them off. Thanks for catching that because I didn't mention it in the video tha is for watching and commenting.
Thanks for this info! I own a 2004 Yamaha road star warrior and this would be my first time doing the brake job. I assume it is similar, if not the same as your bike. Do we need to relube the bolts prior to install again and how many brake cycles do we need to do to get the pressure back to where it needs to be for the brakes to function properly. Thanks for your time and information! Ed.J
