The ls1 is a monster I had a 98 trans am bone stock auto and it was fast !!! I had a buddy who had a 01 gt auto with full exhaust and tune I still smacked him hard even gave him the hit and a car and a half still reeled him in lol unfortunately I had to learn the hard way before I got the trans am I had a 2000 gt 5 speed with just short headers my friend worked at a dealership with a guy who had a 02 trans am auto bone stock I talked so much shit I said you wanna go so there was this interstate by his job we got on there and I even jumped by a lot and he smoked me !!! about a month later I turned in the mustang and got the trams am 3 weeks later lol
How much do you charge for a tune brother. Ship it, even drive there. Minnesota resident 1997 htp xp cam 3k stall and speed daddy headers want to intercool and 3.5 pulley
I fabricated the hot side and crossover first and the turbo placement. Then mounted the turbo and then just cut and welded the downpipe and hood exit under the brake booster and out the hood. Then cut the hole last in the hood.
@@sandvick1 meh .... The design could have been better. Mine are non adjustable unless I bend the bracket they're mounted on. I hate the high beams. It's like the beams are crossed.
@karmasweet6457 they look good. But the lights are worse than stock which is hard to believe and they also bounce which I had to stick half inch foam underneath to keep them from bouncing and to adjust them properly.
Says fastgtp242. Lol 😆 now that it's turboed and makes 500+whp and capible of way more than that with nitrous with 290k miles and still daily drive for litterally nothing I think I'll take it and drive it for free Since I fabbed and built the whole car myself. Spending the money on this car got me the experience of my current job of restoring classics where I've done projects costing over 200k and have almost 100 restoration under my belt and has given me a great life to provide for my family. I think the less than 20k I've spent on the car in the 17 years of driving it its cheaper than anyone who buys a new car. But thanks for the concern over my finances. I appreciate it. 🙏
Hey might i ask where you learned to tune? I have a 05 gtp comp g and i’ve upgraded the ignition components, airbox and exhaust to powerlog / highflow cat downpipe with a glasspack in place of resonator as well.My forward band blew so its been down and i’m about to order a TEP package to install in my 4t65e hd because why not replace everything at the point of disassembly for a forward band. Mainly just wondering if i can easily get 350 whp and how. I was thinking 3.4” pulley and get a tune, unless i need any supporting engine mods but its been hard for me to find out a lot to do with it. Also unsure of what fuel pump / injectors to use, dont want to deal with nitrous, and dont want to swap to e85 because theres none of that in my area lol.
I learned tuning all on my own with this car and my ls1 camaro, it took me a good year of research and reading forums and doing my homework on how to use HP tuners and watching videos and taking lots of scans and small changes to the tune to begin. I've since tuned around 75 cars on different builds via street tuning or remote tuning, but my busy life has pretty much ended my ability to tune other poeples cars anymore with kids and doing lots of classical restrictions where the real money is at. But tuning 3800 vs ls stuff is vastly different.. but learning how to on the 3800 platform is a great start since the pcms are so much more simplistic than say ls based pcms. Without e85 it will be very difficult to get to 350whp even if the car is cammed on a supercharged build that is; without spending a fair chunk of change on the emgine or the aid of a power adder like nitrous which is temporarilypower and nitrous isnt cheap now days. . I ran this car on a stock cam 1.9 rocker l32 build down to a 2.4" pulley before going to turbo 2 years ago. Even on my 2.4 pulley e85 and a great intercooling system I would say I'd have been lucky to get to 350whp without the aid of nitrous. But with nitrous(150-175shot) the car probably made upwards of 500whp. But since going turbo which I fabricated a kit for the car for about 1000$(see recent videos) the car now makes upward of 500+whp if not more on 30-35lbs of boost. 450whp on 18- 20ish lbs of boost. I haven't thrown nitrous at it cause I'm scared to destroy my TEP trans and cause it usually doesn't hook up in 2nd gear with street radials anyway. So easily 350whp is achieved by bolting a turbo kit on turbo kit and turning it up to about 13-15lbs of boost and there are used kits that show up on Facebook 3800marketplace every few months for around 1000bucks which I wish I would have gone turbo a decade ago..
@@sandvick1 so by turbo do you mean you twin charged your gtp? you kept the sc and added a turbo? because if so I was also thinking of that eventually down the line, and the idea of used 3800 turbo marketplace sounds awesome for that so thank you. I really appreciate your input as i'm just starting my journey into cars doing what i can lol. About to rebuild my trans all on my own so that will be quite the journey once the parts arrive haha. I'll look into tuning too because its obviously a lot more quality and cheaper to do it on your own terms.
@dittoblob4655 I'm running a single turbo. I removed the supercharger roots and made a block off plate and I am running my water to air intercooler still.
Yeah must be. Never thought about that before. It's the only comp g I've ever owned and now that you mention it idk if they come factory on all of them or not lol
