Its unfortunate, they have the funds, resources, and potential to be something amazing. But, nothing about them is particularly memorable It was a rushed debut riding of off Chaewon and Sakuras' success in IZONE. Just a money grab that lacks creative direction and any real impact. And, now they are suffering unnecessarily
i just think people put too much emphasis on someone’s “brand” and “music identity”, she’s only put out three releases so far, who cares if she hasn’t found an identity yet??? i just don’t understand why some people make it a defining thing for a group or soloists’ success, i much prefer when someone puts out different genres of music, because it shows that they’re versatile. and what’s crazy is that people have criticized literally every single release she’s had (and ik that ppl will hate on anything so at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter) so now i’m confused on whether it’s really about the music or not lmao i think she’s perfectly fine as a soloist, and if she joins a group in the future, that’ll be good too!
Plagiarizing what? NewJeans isn't a original group themselves😂😂😂😂 there is nothing original about K-POP the whole concept was copied from the west. Those are not my thoughts K-POP ceo's like Chairman Bang have this himself and there's nothing wrong with that but when you have Min Hee Jin throwing around that word its hilarious. She copied her concept for NewJeans so what the hell is that woman talking about.
Supporting MHJ is sooo last month, she's history. Unfortunately, New Jeans, their families and the staff of Ador have been caught in the web of MHJ's lies, manipulations and sabotage, foolishly following their leader into the abyss of the cult of Min Hee Jin. Only time will tell if Hybe sees New Jeans as redeemable or if they should cut their losses and be done with the moderately talented little upstarts.
MHJ did say that even she is a woman herself she hate wimen no wonder why she throw out hate herself on the NJ girls that they are fat and lazy just complaining and she just see that its she who have done all the work?? Huh?? What does then the girls do....and it seems that she have talkt to the girls and told them that they wount survive without her help, that is like narssistic metode and like blackmailing so shore the girls are afraideto loose everything now when they do have a lot to pay back to the label after there trainy days like everyone else end up doing pay back the hole thing before you even get to be payed. Hybe was the that put this matter on the tabel so she had to be quick out to the press to get some sympaty from fans and the girls parents but that ain't the way you handel buissnes in a company you do that inside the company and with the boarders sitting leaders/shareholders and those people.
Interesting take there. I feel like HYBE should really reconsider their operational label structure with the many acquisitions they have had on companies. As for Min Hee Jin, she really needs to re-evaluate and substantiate her claims a bit more than just throwing stuff out here and there like that.
MHJ shows a very alarming characteristics of being a narcissist. So I don't think that she will back down and she will continue to use nwjns as her shield and make new speculations and rumors to deflect the attention away from her.

NJ, their parents, and their fandom will be ashamed for supporting her! May God and the Universe work in favor of HYBE! The laptop is the key evidence.
I’m glad someone else sees it (the narcissism). I’ve been saying this the whole time. The biggest giveaway for me was during that press conference when she claimed that the members of New Jeans felt so bad for her and made a point to say their parents are on her side as well. That’s a classic attempt to manipulate people to 1) feel bad for you and 2) view you as being in the right even though most people would naturally disagree with you. And pretty much everything she has said since then continues to reinforce that notion.
First Min Hee Jin supporter in the comments hahaha. I do wanna know whether the algorithm for you has shown more pro-min hee jin content / social posting? because I feel like for me it's kinda flip flopped back to more HYBE support. As for the snake in the grass and being proud of yourself; not sure how that helps add to anything but you do you i guess.
Yeah it makes me laugh how koreans say stuff like “poor min hee jin she is just a powerful woman going against a big corporation”, “she is just a employee, a blue collar like us that gets abused by the big ceos of the company” Like…she is a multimillionaire ceo herself…. with 18% stocks in ador and yearly millionaire salary…. She is NOT like your average korean blue collar. Why do they relate to her💀
Yea, that definitely also doesn't help her case. I mean unless it was some form of nepotism, which it isnt, the salary reflect her well informed knowledge within the industry so the whole small worker imagery just doesn't make sense.
Yea, hopefully the court system can resolve this. Not sure how much public opinion will affect the courts decision because wouldn't they just be looking at the facts and evidence presented? As for the other HYBE labels petitioning against Min Hee Jin; I mean how much interactions have they had to truly know what it happening to the fullest extent. They are all owned by HYBE so it kinda makes sense that being subsidiaries to the parent of HYBE; they would for the most part be on the side of HYBE.
My main issue with MHJ has always been the way she uses NewJeans as the social equivalent of human shields. I mean, it's kinda genius, and it works even on me. Just because I'm aware of it doesn't make me any less concerned for the future of the group.
new jeans trust her. she have spoiled the girls so hard now they think they need her to be successful. That's why MHJ choose the youngest idols from source music so that she can manipulate them easily. This was a well executed long term plan. I hope she will gets fired and New jeans will continue under HYBE. HYBE has flaws too, but they treat their idols well.
Yea, the association of New Jeans being on Min Hee Jin side does make it seem like if you're against Min Hee Jin then you're against New Jeans too in an indirect way. Kpop seems to always feel like it has to be black or white. There is no inbetween which is why it's smart because New Jeans have become scapegoats to deflect and minimise the thorough look into everything. As for the long term plan thing; that is an interesting opinion. Don't think that was necessarily her reasoning for choosing younger idols from source music. Plus from the sounds of how she describes the formation of New Jeans; I think age was a factor for sure but she wasn't just taking any young idol. As for HYBE treating their idols well; this is where that confirmation bias is coming from. Like Ador/Min Hee Jin technically is treating their idols well too but from your perspective; it's a manipulation tactic from long ago. However, when it comes to HYBE, they treat their idols well; and so their leeways to the flaws of HYBE. Not sure what flaws you are aware about but defs interesting to see the different sides.
@@Usery5439my guess is that behind the scenes she has been telling those girls that everyone else is against them and no one else can/will help them succeed the way she does (and probably that no one else cares about them the way she does). I wouldn’t be surprised if she also does a lot of guilt-tripping and talks endlessly about all the sacrifices she has made for them.
@@NatalieMarie917 of course she did. that's why she chose the youngest members from source music so she can spoil them hard, gain their trust and manipulate them. and she even had said that they think they can't survive without her. now these girls don't see the risk. they completely depend on her.
Hybe has a right to audit any company they own. Hybe has alot of evidence against min. Which hybe has give to the police and court. Hybe manager also volunteer to be interviewed by the police. None of min stories make any sense. She didn't turn in her computer.
I mean we defs will see with the results of what happens in court, but at this point in time; neither have provided much substantial evidence besides their own accounts to what is happening so it's interesting to see some sides flip flop every few days and then other heavily defend one side like they also have the evidence to actually know why that side is right.
Yeaahhh, what was crazy to me is that these girls that were chosen for popularity on the hopes there there plus perform miracles and get better in like a couple of weeks when they knew they didn't have either enough prep time or talent. But every week the judges would be disappointed, like why?? 😅😅 you chose them despite their under development and now you are sad that why are not doing well?? And why are people sad that they didn't make Final Cut?? I think people like to root for people who are doing well, passionate and are underdogs which is why I guess we have the final lineup like that. I think the show should have been 3 and 4th year and maybe 2ns at least. The 10yr age age in group members is crazy to me and I just would have left the babies to train a lil more, let them go to school 😅 what's the rush, they will only get better with time.
Are you talking about the right show? The age gap was seven years which is still a lot but the ten year gap sounds like you are talking about UNIS from universe ticket. Same with the popularity picks, I feel like most of class:y had that one distinct skill each so they weren't all solely based on popularity. Not sure about UNIS because I didn't watch it.
8:30 i mean even at their debut they still got hate for their songs like people called dalla dalla noise music, icy was called a kidz bop song, and wannabe was received well but then people started saying the self love concept was getting repetitive. Overall i think itzy is doing fine though and their recent comeback, despite missing lia, was received better than than cake and their last few comebacks and it seems like the hate train is dying down. One thing that i definitely wish jyp did more though was market the members individually ig they’re worried about having another suzy and miss a situation
I feel like each member is pretty distinct already but more individual marketing could be such a great way to diversify the interest but also retain the interest of Itzy. As for the reception of their intial songs; I feel like they were all received pretty decently. Proabbly just focusing on the outlier receptions
Not sure how to gage that. Not sure how much staff usually is looking after one group but yea, there is something lowkey off with the management of Itzy.
Was that her real personality though? It's kinda like assuming what we see with idols is their actual personalities which there is a bit of fakeness and unauthenticness they have to convey to keep up their image.
Good food for thought, thanks for this video. I’m a super casual listener to izone and have streamed Knock multiple times (voluntarily in my own will because that song is just SO GOOD). I generally agree with everything you’ve discussed in the video and can’t help but think about my own current fave who is also from an extremely small company (much smaller than RBW). He’s also currently in a survival group and I’m also quite worried about whether he’ll debut in a group or debut solo after they disband I guess it really depends on what kind of career path the idol wants to pursue, e.g. variety focused, or growing fame as an actor, or to continue being an kpop idol, or to become more focused as a singer
Who is your current fave that you are worried about? Only survival group I can think of is ZB1 so I'm thinking like Hanbin or Matthew. But yea, their are different variations to idols that you don't have to just only be known for your career as an idol exclusively.
I thought that she was doing alright as a soloist, but now it's been a while since her last comeback, which is a bit concerning. She hasn't appeared in anything in a while.
She recently had her fan concert in Hong Kong and has been hosting her own internet show. Kinda doing things here and there but maybe from a general international perspective; it could seem like she isn't doing too much.
they could honestly experiment more with her makeup and outfit style. I've never seen her stages and is solely writing my opinion based on this vid and from what i can see, she suit halter tops/sleeveless tops best and tops that would show off her waist. She also need a more volumized hairstyle. Most of the makeup style i see here doesn't quite cover up her dark circles and the blush is either on the thicker side or non existent.
Ohhhh, never really delved into make up and fashion in terms of helping enhancing her. I mean also considering how much visuals are considered to the domestic audience; I wonder how much of an impact this would have assuming the releases remain the same.
I feel bad for her. In the pursuit of the Korean beauty standard she has botched her face - she looks almost unrecognisable now. Whereas Chaeryeong got subtle plastic surgery that enhanced her natural beauty, Chaeyeon went bananas. She has great skills and a great personality, but I find it difficult to even look at her now. She was beautiful as she was. As others have said, she’s doing well as a tv / RU-vid show host, and I think she’ll have more success in that direction, and/or owning a dance studio with the help of her wealthy parents and any sponsors.
Botched her face? Looking at comparison to iz*one pictures, it looks like she just changed her nose?? which makes her look noticeably different but ngl, didn't even see much about her face changing.
Tbh I think she’s doing just fine as a soloist! Her skills are good when it comes to singing and dancing, and knock was very popular, she’s even a great mc/show host. I think she just needs to find her musical sound/identity like how yena has. But that’s something that will only come with more comebacks
Definitely. I think she has the right factors that could work in her favor to properly thrive but musical sound is a real issue which is also a big factor in terms of stanability.
Dont treated kpop soloist debut as special VIP ticket in kpop world. Everyone can debut as Soloist. People shouldnt obsessed the "getting music winner awards in 1 seconds" of successful. Im really happy about Chae Yeon debuted as Soloist If she debuted in new group, either her ex izone popularity will overshadow the new member or overshadowed by new member If she cant fit group's concept, she can build her own concept Now the stage is her own stage.
Definitely valid about the instant success sentiment. As for debuting in a group, it seems like it really depends on how the company deals with it. It seems like Produce 48 companies were able to leverage the success of their iz*one members while not completely ignoring the other members. That's the major difference with the post-Iz*one groups vs post-ioi groups. Then for concept, I highly doubt they would consider a concept that would fit the whole group. If it didn't I would atleast think they would priortise it suiting her first considering she would be the face of the group and more eyes would initially be on her.
She shines more as a soloist though, her music isn’t even bad. It’s the picky fans who have stuff to critique. WM does need to focus on promoting better and letting her have to her social media to stay relevant.
Other than that, not everyone is going to have automatic success. It’s better to start with growing organic success and a loyal fan base. That’s the problem with recent 4th and 5th gen groups. One song they don’t like and they drop the group. It’s better focusing on creating a large fan base than to be making many hits, while losing picky fans who don’t like the comeback.
I mean music taste is subjective so idk if it's necessarily picky fans in comparison to just general taste of music. But yea, more interactions could help retain her relevancy while she gears for another comeback.
I feel like that should be the go to approach for everyone but when it comes to another major controversy, it's everyone picking their side and constantly flip flopping when more comes out.
For a rigged lineup this is probably one of the least cohesive ones I've seen, the two older members look very out of place and I feel bad for them. The real winners of MTG were the ones who got exposure from this show, but didn't get in the final lineup.
Honestly, they’re just using the Christmas song as an excuse that they don’t need to comeback and as well as target. I’m only going to count target as a comeback but it’s just really sad how we haven’t had new music in about a year and the company is just mistreating them. I don’t know why companies choose Japanese promotions over Korean promotions. You know it does way better than that. I wouldn’t be surprised if they become like Weki Meki, where they don’t have a comeback for about 3 years
Yea, I mean Fantasy boys are approaching the same point where Classy would be for their as of now last Korean comeback so we'll just have to see where Pocketdol do more with them too. But it really is such a waste of time to have such members just not do anything.
Not sure. They just gave Chaewon a special project single. There hasn't been a sign indicating much will change which is so confusing in what exactly is the issue. As for Lapillus, I don't really follow them that much but I can defs look into them to see if I feel like I can see what's happening.
Honestly i think chayeon, and even yuri since we are on this topic, are incredible as soloists. Their ability to hold their own to me makes them really good soloists. However for chaeyeon, like you said, she hasnt found her sound, which makes sense. Even popular soloists like chungha and somi experimented so much before finding their sound. I think she just needs time to hone that side because we all know she is absolutely stacked in the skills department. Im still bummed she lost her knock win by such a small margin.
Yea, I defs understand experimenting with time but idk about experimenting that much with a debut. To me, it really conflicted with the image of Chaeyeon as an idol. I do wonder how into Let's dance was she because that was an interesting choice to go for.
Honestly, slightly. Oh My Girl is going through the same "fate" as Mamamoo where once they renewed their contracts, it's been "quiet" or just not as impactful. Only good thing is ONF who I recently got introduced to from their recent comeback.
she really need to establish a distinct branding, she used to have one, but doesnt really stick to it. like chungha, she was known to have a "black swan" type of dance while chaeyeon has "feather". she debuted with a song with a weak choreography which is very contradictory on her brand as she is a dancer. she gained it back with knock then lost it again at let's dance, maybe because of its brighter concept which is not really chaeyeon's persona. she has a serious facial expression on stage, but she also used to be fierce and intimidating, while being very smiley also. "big" is what i would describe her stage presence in la vie en rose era as she was so distinct and memorable from the rest of the group. I want to see that confident aura on her again.
First thing to remember, HYBE antis don't actually care about skills. They pretend to, but it's just a way to attack HYBE groups, especially when they see those groups dominate their own ones and block them from wins etc. 90% of IDOLs from the 2nd gen till now have been mid at best vocalists... It's just an 'issue' now because YGE stans have led a hate train because they think in order to raise their girls they have to tear HYBE down. Second thing, the kpop fanbase is in constant churn, with older fans ageing out and new kids flooding in. This newest generation of fans don't know or care about the 3rd gen. Iz*one were something that happened to someone else. If you are from that gen and haven't got a rock solid fanbase in place already then, outside of a freak viral thing, you are at this point fucked. Third thing, she is a soloist from a smaller company. WM don't have the huge built in fanbase that the Big 4 come with and soloists are in general a harder sell to Kpoppers. She is also at a disadvantage because she isn't a AAA tier vocalist and so won't even get much work with OSTs, etc. I am not sure where she goes from here. I don't think that she will break through. She really needed the 'Dream Tree' group to work out in all honesty because she shines in a team. Sadly, RBW hurt every WM project during that aquisition.

Not sure where that first para comes into the conversation for Chaeyeon but okay. Yea, not too sure about the new generation of fans tbh. But yea, I mean I could kinda see two version of generic new fans. Either they (1) follow 4-5th gen only or (2) they know about 3rd gen but it's only the big companied ones like Twice, Blackpink, BTS etc. Not sure about the OST section? That's like more of a way to get more activities but the impact of doing an OST doesn't seem that imapctful to influence too much of a standard Kpop career.
She should have just gone through with queendom puzzle. i guess hey wanted to capitalize off of the momentum knock was getting, but they could have done queendom puzzle and that at the same time. The group elzup (?) would have really benefited from her being in the group. I'm sure she would have won a spot in the group.
Defs a hard thing because obviously we should always give room for artist to grow and all that. However, with the way that kpop operates, it's not that simple to continue to find their sound. Considering the oversaturation of kpop artist, the amount of loyalty that people have to groups that aren't big company related is relatively small. But yea, she defs is still new into her career and with the amount of experience she has leveraged throughout her many years in the industry overall, she's one of the lucky few who can take a bit more time before people start to actually pivot away.
Aftr wm(chaeyeon's company) was acquired by rbw(mamamoo company) wm were told not to debut anthr group until they pay their debt so they had to let go of other trainees who were supposed to debut wid chaeyeon as chaeyeon had a contract with the company she couldn't leave and she had to debut solo
I love her as a soloist though I would love to see a Chae Sisters album with her and chaeryoung. Honestly their vocals would fit perfectly together and imagine the powerhouse of a performance it would be given their combined dance skills.
Have we seen much kpop siblings do collaboration singles before? But yea, that would be a cool thing to do. Even another collab stage would be cool too.
Not everyone can be soloist…she’s one of those people. Not to mention the drastic changes in her visual… i have found that the general public is more forgiving of plastic surgery if it was done pre debut, versus post debut.
