Why can’t Amtrak complete the perimeter around America by completing the tracks from Jacksonville, Fl to Mobile, Al. If they do this you can travel the complete distance around America…north, south, east, west on outer edges of America.? Get it done Amtrak.
We're both short so we may not be the best people to answer this for you. There's more space than an airplane seat, you're just facing each other so you may need to coordinate your feet positions a little.
Question: did the room smell with the toilet right there? Also, if you are sitting in the chairs that face each other. Do your knees touch? They seem pretty close.
Hi Mary. There was no smell from the toilet. I don't know how that plumbing works but whether the lid was open or shut, we didn't smell anything. Our knees did not touch although neither of us are tall. We sometimes bumped feet, but the space was generally manageable.
Good morning or evening to you two. I enjoy your videos. Are there apartments building like here in the USA? And if so how much do they cost for a 1 or 2 bedroom? Any plans to travel to Da Nang?
Hi, thanks, Glenn. In Hoi An, there are starting to be more apartment buildings but most are small - less than 6 units. Other cities and suburbs do have larger apartment and condo complexes. Furnished apartments marketed to foreigners in Hoi An are $250-$800 per month, not always including electric/water. We have been happy with what we've found in the $300-$400 range.
What was your favorite meal on this train? What do you think about toilet next to bed. How many hours of uninterrupted sleep did you get on this train.
Interesting video. The apartment for $330...is that per week? And what kind of facebook group did you find it in? I'd love to see a video like this for staying in Cuenca. Thanks!
@jackiegrant8655 $330 is per MONTH! There are often Facebook groups like "rentals in [city]" or "apartments and homes to rent in [city]". (Sorry we missed your comment earlier!)
Thanks for the vid. My wife and I are comptenplanting taking the Cresent 19 roomette from PHL to ATL. ~15hrs. She'll be 7mo pregnant and we're curious how comfortable it'd be. Train might be easier than driving, and that lounge at 30th st is an added bonus we didn't know about.
Hi, nice video! I wanna do the trip for two in the same route between Washington and Greenville SC in May: try to buy the same roomette at the amtrak website but the only bring us coach acomodation....can you help me to find out how to book tne roomette? many thanks!!
When you do a search for a route on a specific day, Amtrak's website will show any available coach and room options side by side. It may be that rooms are no longer available if you're not seeing that option. You can always call Amtrak about reservations as well.
I strongly warn against this insurance company! The masseuse dislocated my shoulder. The doctor told me he thought I would need surgery. The doctor also said we could try physical therapy first. I agreed. After a week it was clear that the therapy was not helping. I contacted the insurance company. At first they said nothing would be a problem. But they refused to pay for the therapy because they wanted more detailed documents (I gave them all the documents that the hospital gave me. there was nothing more to add.) And immediately after that they told me that they would not even pay for the surgery, because they thought that the deterioration occurred until as a result of therapy. What a pathetic act.
I have a question for you and your channel. My understanding is that these companies reach out to you to demo their products when you have a big following. Since your following is quite modest currently, how did you go about getting their products for free? I'm curious as I'm starting my own travel channel and I would love to be able to demo these type of products on the move. Thanks in advance. Great demo by the way!
Hi. In this case, the company reached out to us through our travel blog, not necessarily because of our RU-vid following. Then we negotiated deliverables that could be mutually beneficial.
This is such a dismal downgrade of what Amtrak New York to New Orleans used to be. They removed the dining car that they had upgraded. Once the CEO was apointed by the new Commander in Chief , He was told to destroy Amtrak. He followed orders. 1. Prices for sleepers have been jacked up! You now pay more for less! 2. No more traditional dining or meals cooked to order. They give you food in a bag that was micrwaved and its lousy. Tastes worst than food on a plane. You are forced to eat it in your confined sleeper! You don't get to meet people. Fast food would be better! And I don't eat fast food. This is institution food!!! 3.One shower for each Car? Bring a case of water, they don't provide complimentary water for sleepers. 4. You arrive in New Orleans late in the evening and miss the beautiful sunset as you cross Lake Ponchatrain! More money, less ambience! Old New York to New Orleans: Sleeper Amenities 1. first class lounge had plush comfortable seating, lots of snacks and a great staff. 2. Complimentary water, coffee and tea. 3.Dinner was cooked to order; Example: Flatiron steak cooked to order, salad with choice of paul newman dressings, warm roll, free soft drink, water, coffee or tea, baked potato, steamed vegetables, selection of deserts. Staff received generous tips! Breakfast Choices: Grits, eggs, sausage or bacon, juice, otmeal, cereal, pastry, coffee tea, toast, water, biscuit yogurt, fruit. Lunch: Hamburger or cheeseburger, pickles, chips, pizza, hot dog. IF YOU CAN GET A CHEAP DEAL VIA PLANE TAKE IT! AMTRAK FROM NEW YORK TO NEW ORLEANS HAS BECOME A CATTLE CAR! THIS BREAKS MY HEART! DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. THEY'VE NEVER TAKEN THE TRAIN BEFORE COVID OR REGIME CHANGE!
That not exactly true. All long distance trains have a dinning car and open for sleeper car passengers and on some routes coach passengers can purchase food in the dinning car. For Amtrak all trains east of Chicago have flexible dinning which are meals prepared beforehand and just warmed up in the micro on the train. All Amtrak routes west of Chicago and San Antonio has traditional dinning which are cooked meals on the train.
They are horrible , they didn’t approve not even a claim for me when I was in Thailand , 6 claims and not even one . DO NOT GET IT THERE ADE MANY MORE MUCH BETTER
We're not tall. I'm not sure what the length of the beds would be but you could probably find it on the Amtrak website. As for leg space while seated, it would be plenty if traveling solo but could be an issue if you're traveling with a companion. The nice thing about the train is you would have more opportunity to get up and stretch your legs.
We looked into the possibility of staying near the train station. It's not a great area but there are a couple hotels nearby, including Holiday Inn Express and Hyatt.
You say that solar charging is slower, but you need to remember you are paying money to charge from AC from your house, but solar you are not, so ideal if you don't really use the unit during the day but use it in the evening.
Being Scottish, AmTrack trains seem kind of interesting. I think that there are only two sleeper trains in the UK. There's one that goes from London to Cornwall (I think), and the other is the Caledonia Sleeper, which goes from London to Scotland.
@@Intentionaltravelers I'm sure that it's a great way to see parts of the USA that you might not see other wise. That's what I love about doing my own channel. It challenges me to go out and see parts of Scotland that I might not see other wise.
Hi guys! This was fun to watch and quite nostalgic for me... in 2006 we rode the Amtrack from Seattle to New York with one change of train at Chicago. At Seattle, they had dropped our train car, so we had to sleep in seats til they had one like yours. Then we got bed and bath (with shower!) for the last 2 days😊 We were delayed a number of times for freight trains and some tracks were very bumpy! It sure was an interesting experience. Let's see more of these updates!
A quick info, Google Voice is only available for free if you have a US number. In some countries (like France), it's only accessible if you have a paid Google Workspace account.
How long is the solar cable? I'm thinking of placing the ac180 in my garage with the door down and only have the solar panels outside. Thank you for the info.
I love Google Voice! I ported my US number and use it for 2FA, though some websites can tell it's a voip and it doesn't work :( Ally Bank, or example. But overall, I love Google voice.
It's true, some companies don't like the Voip. For some reason we've found that Jedd's Google Voice number almost always works even when Michelle's doesn't, not sure why except that it's older.
Great review. I would like to own an AC180 and May in the future . I went for the AC60 with two B80 additional batteries to give me 2KWH maximum with 1000watt inverter. I like the modular setup so if I only need 400wh then I just take the AC60 or add 800wh with each additional battery. The other benefit is that I can add a 200W solar panel to each unit giving a maximum of 600W of solar panels. Bluetti seem to have all bases covered in spades. The only issue is everything seems to weigh many kilos. I have a 4 year old Jackery 1000w which is noticeably lighter than my AC60
Does somebody know how Turbo Charge works ? I can't figure out if it has a 1440W charger or a smaller one but with a special feature able to deliver more power...
The 1440W "turbocharging" is for the Bluetti itself when plugged into an AC outlet. This recharges the AC180 really quickly. It does not have a 1440W turbocharging output when charging other devices. The different output ports and outlets on the AC180 are rated separately. Hope this helps.
