Can’t a player follow the bottom card when you show the deck after the wash like even knowing the card is in the top half can help a lot.

4 years later, young dealer here (i deal for fun at my school) (havent gotten in trouble yet) and i have severe hyperhidrosis which causes my hands to sweat excessively, and i found myself soaking the cards and trying out plastic waterproof cards, which only made the situation worse by making the cards stick together, but i havent thought of using latex gloves which seemed to work like a charm. too bad i had to sacrifice my previous cards by drenching them in sweat before realizing i could just use latex gloves...

I know I have to keep the game going How do you handle a player who constantly misbehaves Ie folding out of turn betting out of turn rude comments to you ect Even when I call the floor they still do it the very next day Just ruins everyones experience
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 2 месяца назад
Yeah this can be so tough. Sorry you have to deal with whoever it is you’re talking about here. And also it’s unavoidably a part of what happens in the world of poker. The deepest truth here is that it’s really case by case for me with these players. A single small detail can be the difference in how I approach someone here. There are some players I’ve looked deep into their souls, drawn out my own vulnerable humanity and quietly said “please stop. It’s so hard to deal to you every day.” Other players I know for sure they want me to say something to them because the real thing they are there for is the joy of confrontation with someone who appears weak, and with them the approach is all about figuring out how to trap them in a social dynamic they hate man to man where they end up respecting me for the thing they care about. And sometimes I try and fail and have to apologize to the player, and my boss. And also part of the challenge here is that a lot of these players are actually in the right. Like folding out of turn matters so much, right? After all it gives a player in the hand who hasn’t acted yet a clear advantage on that betting round by allowing them to know that they have to get through one less opponent. But does folding out of turn really matter that much? Because now the player with the “advantage” isn’t the only one who knows the extra player folded, so any opponent can factor that into their range and the best player is still in the advantage here either way. The real truth here is that it doesn’t matter nearly as much as we make it seem. But players who barely scrape by earning a living at poker have the loudest voices and they freak out so we all get scared and care about the things they tell us to. Same thing with betting out of turn. It usually hurts the player doing it more than anything. So I guess the real answer here at the end of the day is to move to Dallas where the players are so nice it’ll make you forget you’re dealing poker.

What if i don't have a good divot? Can I flick it off my nail?
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 4 месяца назад
If your divot doesn’t feel like it’s catching the card well enough, try holding your pitching hand next to the deck with your palm facing the ceiling. That should make it so that you don’t need a divot as much. So wrist of your pitching hand and palm of your pitching hand both facing the ceiling. Exaggerate it as you learn and then get comfortable over time

Loved your video about pitching the cards thanks a lot for that you doing great job. I see this video is 12 years old and I’m wondering if you have since that time found out that the thing you showing in this video at the time 3:37 is not actually the exact correct way how to start cutting the chips?🙏
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 5 месяцев назад
I don't understand what you are asking here. The instruction at 3:37 is still correct. Did you learn from a school that taught you something else? There are a handful of ways that this is taught across the industry and they are all being done by professional dealers across hundreds of casinos. Every one of them works and is considered correct. And of course there are also many ways to do this that the entire industry would agree is not professional.

ngl lie first couple months I was bad....I would fuck up on changes....mostly that....and in limit games players tend to call hella fast so I would be lost on where the action was ....so when players got mad I knew I was at fault ...but no one went over the top other then this one old head ....who pissed me tf off lol he was like turn in your badge you suck etc...almost lost my job that day cuz my emotions got the best of me....floor saw that and told me to take a 40 min break to cool off ..... but now Im on top off it and everybody knows me ...just getting better everyday....I dont let players run the game anymore like I did when I first started....Im also a floor now so seeing different situations has made me a better dealer....I realized players respect you when you run the game with authority.
@truepokerdealer
@truepokerdealer 5 месяцев назад
Yeah so many new dealers think that passing the audition means that they are GOOD and then they find out that passing the audition means you are good enough to get started and it takes months to be good. But at least at the beginning when it's rough you're making that money!
