Always backup files before formatting SD card. Formatting deletes* all old files. (*actually, overwrites file allocation table, but sometimes data forensics can recover files, however, new files may overwrite old files, and recovery is difficult, unless using expensive data forensic equipment).
CRAZY is the only thing that is true in your title. You neither heat mass of water but the surroundings, nor is this a rocket stove but just a metal pipe with a miserable efficiency. Just take an old stove, put a pot of water on it, and you will have a better effect.. Google for "rocket stove ten commandments", read it, and then reconsider what you call your construction.
@MyNameIsLukey It looks like with the six glasses you'd get 3.2V or so, that would be nearly enough to power a microcontroller with an OLED display. Two questions: Would it give more volts or amps if the carbon rods too were buried in the sand, or it doesn't make any difference? What other material besides carbon and magnesium could be used for the rods? I'm wondering if this could be done with more common materials like steel, iron, aluminum, copper, zinc, etc. Thanks for the video!

I've tried this exact method and had dismal results. The copper pipe would generate so much pressure that the water inside would cause what is known as "water hammering" and is quite startling. After much troubleshooting I found attaching a check valve on the cold water inlet side will keep the pressure flowing one direction. However, the copper coil still does not heat efficiently enough. The amount of wood needed is far more than if you would put the coil directly into the fire.

Ohhh yeah, I feel silly now, as I was planning to try to make a pendulum do the same job for a gravity wall lmao this is way more sensible.. So I'd have the main power stored in the weight, but have it drive a flywheel rather than a generator... As for restriction to change with power demand, maybe a continuously variable gearbox leading to that flywheel. Now I'm thinking that to automate this mechanically I'm right at the start of the dunning kruger curve for sure but what about PID tuning on the gearbox ratio via nitinol springs that tighten with more amps being pulled through..? I think there needs to be two weights though, or a looping track system where they get handed over to an up-winding motor from unused flywheel generation, which can also get input from any and all my harvesting sources. I've had half a bottle of wine though and I'm knackered and can't fully envisage the thing yet.
Congrats, Luke, on getting your channel going! Here is something you might consider. Robert has always had this problem of facing the meter to the camera and not being able to see the reading, himself. I suggest you get a little cheap meter that you can connect in parallel and see, yourself, while the big meter is still facing the camera. You don't need to see all those digits while you are doing a quick demo, so something like 3 digits would let you know what is going on, and make it easy.
In the 1940's my dad and his US Navy buddies celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the florescent light, or so he said. No actual history behind it, just an excuse to go drinking. So thank you for the actual history Luke! In the late60's/early 70's dad worked at a lab at IBM making LEDs before they were commercially available. He brought home a few and we made a multi-vibrator circuit with two of them for my 3rd grade science project. Still have a few of those early LEDs in my junk box.
I think that we might be related 🤔 because my Uncle used to talk about this very same Celebration!! My Dad used to be in the forces also and I have had some interesting Toys like a laser sight for my Air Gun and one of those night vision devices that were super awesome for cheating at hide and seek!! 😅
