Hi James - i think there is about £20-25 between the hp62 and midland alan 42 which would you get? Ive had the jopix cb514 before and sold it. Getting the itch for another handheld cb again. Cheers 👍
Hey man, great build. I got a question, a lot of people use solar charge controller they turn off when not in use but then they have to setup the chargecontroller each time. Are the settings of the victron saved in its memory or on the app or something? I just want a system that you can turn on and forget about. Thanks a lot for this nice build. Greetings from Belgium. Erik
Hi! I received such a unit, but I do not have an antenna. I would like an antenna like the one you have in the video. Could you help me, where is the antenna from? Regards: András
Hello, thanks for the video. Sincerely, the thunderpole audio is narrow and bass little distortion for fm displacement, the alan 42 is clear and treble, i understand.
Just bought a pair of TRC-222's that were advertised as working but they are not. Both radios do not turn on, Mine are in great physical condition and were $20.00 for the pair so really no reason for to complain. UPDATE: figured I would try batteries and they work. The 12 volt cigarrette lighter adapters must be the issue, probably just not the proper ones, polarity is correct but likely they just are not making contact.
I’m wearing my mask as I watch. I bought a bluetti 300 watt unit but my cpap draws 70 watts the adapter to run it on 12 Volts is 150 US dollars Nothings cheap buying gear for a Cpap Cheers
The problem with Jackery and Resmed machines is that Resmed Airsense 10 and 11 operate on 24V DC and Jackery only outputs 12V DC. You need to step up the voltage. This can get problematic. I was very disappointed that Jackery batteries were limited to 12V. I had planned to purchase a Jackery 500. I purchased another brand that output both 12V and 24V. Irt was a better option.
I bought one for My Baofeng UV-5R and when I key it up screen goes blank, I believe it's not getting enough current the voltage is there not the current
Interesting video. I have recently aquired a British Telecom, what I believe is a 4800X as it has the LCD screen, but with a handset with a different key configuration to anything I can find online. Unfortunatley it is missing it's coiled cable, the pug is still there but the cable has been cut off, so I am hoping either to find a replacement or get someone to make one up for me so that I test whether the phone actually works or not.
When you said that the TX wasn't a real CB, what are you basing that comment on? You didn't include it in your shootout, so how do you know if it performs as good or not? You can put a long telescopic antenna on the TX aswell. I really didn't need a another cb but I bought the TX out of curiosity and was surprise how well it worked on the original antenna but obviously it works better on a longer antenna. If I'm being honest though, I love the car kit. It works as good as any multi standard CB in the car. I liked your video because you did include the Alan 42 in the trial, but it would have been better if you'd compared the TX and the Albrecht also. I've used the Midland, the Albrecht and the TX and ignoring the obvious advantage of having ssb the Albrech had better reports than the Midland but, back then a friend owned the albrecht and he don't have it now to compare it with the TX. To be honest, I'm not a thunderpole fan. In the past they have clone radios and sold them for a lot more money the T-8000 that they currently sell is a clone of a Delta 318LT that I had about 5 years ago for £40. In a shootout, the Delta did better than my Midland Alan 48 plus Multi. On TX according to reports, RX was the same signal strength but the Delta has a nicer sounding speaker.
i bought 6 President Randys . All of the antennas fell apart . I purchased aftermarket HYS antennas plus BNC to TNT adapters so we could continue to use the radios. Where can I buy these radios ? I want the European version because they still use USA frequencies. Im here in New York City
Can I use this on the new thunder pole tx. TWAYRDIO CB Aerial 27MHz CS Tactical BNC Antenna 65.5cm(25.8inch) for Cobra Midland Alan 42 Uniden Anytone Cb Handheld/Portable Radio police scanner
Do these work in houses without external antenna? I have a motorway which is around 5mins walk from me. Do you think this would work? I'm new to all this
Thanks guys great video. I note Lewis, and others have praised in particular the Rubber duck antenna on the TX, the question I found myself asking was - would putting the the TX’s rubber duck on the Midland make any difference to its performance? I.e. how much of a difference is it making?
Great video are these radio as good as a midland Alan 42 I do have the midland Alan 42 it's a pain having to Put in AA pencil battery's in will that be the same with the pin escort Hp 82 just asking
Great video and test of different radios and antennas. Really enjoyed watching this. I have just bought the Jopix 514 (same as Thunderpole TX/PNI Escort HP82) can't wait for it to arrive 👍
Hey there, I made a video on the driver issue with Windows 11. In your device manager, do you have an error "PL2303TA DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 11 OR LATER"" ?
Also, that doesn't look like a Retevis RA89. Could the issue be you are trying to use the RA89 software with a different radio, for example the RT3S ? Edit: Just heard your intro where you call it the RT3S. Sorry*
No my computer seems to accept the lead. It has been suggested that retevis have dedicated leads for certain radios. Think I may buy a retevis lead for the radio
I had the same problem with programming the Retavis RT3S I tried different USB leads but it failed to connect to my computer, I was plugging the programming lead into the USB socket on the front of the computer It was when I plugged it into a empty socket on the back of the computer I found I had no problem programming the radio. I think the problem was the header sockets on the front of the computer case plugging it in the back which is a direct socket on the motherboard seemed to cure the problem, hope this helps.
