I've been watching all the PMs speeches today (Rishi Sunak defeated), this one is actually one of the worst: slow, meandering, 30 mins long instead of 10 mins long.
I did not agree with the politics of many in this news report. But ultimately, most of them were decent people. Unlike the shower we have in power today. Bring on tomorrow.
John Major seems like a dream compared to todays muppets. And he said exactly what has changed "...an opponent not an enemy..". There was still friendship and learned discourse between opposing parties 30 years ago. Now its just lies, attacks and lies. The death of John Smith was an inestimable turning point, definitely for Labour, and perhaps for the country.
Interesting to revisit this time in our history, when the Tories crashed the economy and Labour was voted in to clear up the mess. Andrew Marr has an interesting take on the similarities (and differences) between John Smith and Kier Starmer here on RU-vid called ‘Keir Starmer is more like John Smith than you think’. If you think a lot of him, vote Labour at the General Election on 4 July. That’s what he would do if he were still here. RIP.
This cleared the way for the globalist Tony Blair to take over at the helm of the Labour Party. I always suspected foul play. It was very convenient to get him as PM three years later and to destroy the UK . . . 🤔
Thats so f'd up hearing the most establishment business person in President Bush saying yo in 2006. He's like the pinnacle of why there is youth slang. The opposition lifestyle to the establishment.
It still hurts that we came that close to having a PM who would’ve made a real difference. To think that, after he passed, we’ve had nothing but a string of career politicians just lining their pockets and a country turned into a mess, starting with that oily joker who succeeded him
Looking at the calamity that is now UK politics for last 8-9 years (5 PMs in 6 years..soon to be 6) and the calibre of politicians that’s there now Blair was different class..this present crew wouldn’t carry his jock strap..while he got it wrong with Iraq he brought peace to N Ireland and the UK economy boomed..different class compared to the muppet show we’re watching now..
This was probably the last time that the entire House actually paid homage to a superb politician; no in-fighting or rancour; indeed, it is unrecogniseable to the shower of politicos who currently sit on those venerable benches today. I've never voted for the Conservatives, however, thirty years ago, I could at least respect their opinion - because it was delivered with dignity & aplomb. How far this country's standards have fallen into the black morass of cynicism, open contempt & unbridled vitriol....truly unfortunate..
