My RU-vid channel has videos that give simple step by step instructions for home repair, small shop projects, and helpful hints around the house. I hope you enjoy the videos and they inspire you to use them as "springboards" for your own creations.
LOVE how those calico cats turned out!!! Have you used Titebond "Quick and Thick"? It works great for things like that. It sets up fast and dries clear. It's made for hard to clamp areas like moldings and is thicker so it doesn't run/drip like regular Titebond. Now that your little darlings have taken over the house I'm looking for your next video to be a "Catio". That's the latest rage in my area. It's an outdoor patio area for cats that's either closed in by glass, hardware cloth, etc. You can cut a kitty door through the wall so they can access it and fill it with cat trees, ledges and places for them to watch the birds and get some fresh air. It's a great place to keep the litter boxes too. They are fun to build and all spoiled cats deserve a catio! 😹
Thank you for the comments. I will check out that "Quick and Thick" glue. I am going to make sure my wife does not hear about the "Catio" idea then I won't need to cut a hole in my house, haha!
Thank you for the video. I purchased the blades at Costco some time back and installed them per your video. The new blades I just purchased do not have the plastic cover, so the metal "j" arm stays exposed. I tried using the clip that came in the box but there no way to snap it into place. I have a 2018 Sienna. I also purchased for my Nissan truck with J arm also and the same thing happened- no clip to cover the top part of the arm. I don't know if this is a new design or parts are missing in all four blades. Any input?
thank you so much for this! All my children and grand children are coming home for the first Christmas in seven years, what a fantastic surprise. Blessings to you
Great way to fix the problem and it is such a neat job you did! It's so hilarious how 2 little creatures can change your whole life. Bet you didn't think you'd have to be child proofing your house now. 🤣 They are worth it though as they bring so much joy into our lives!!! Can't wait to see what you have to do next for your two little darlings!
I might need to build a small shed outdoors that I can move into, haha! We are really enjoying their daily adventures. I think our retired lives needed a little shaking up from our routines, now every day seems to require changes. My OCD regarding neatness and my germaphobia have been destroyed!
Very very well done. Gotta turn some tops at a craft fair today representing my turning club. This video is perfect timing and very informative. Thanks.
Great solution to a problem most everyone has! I've got a whole drawer full of cables and honestly don't know what most of them go to. I'm going to try to organize them like you did if I can get them untangled. Next you need to invent a way to keep holiday lights from becoming a big tangled mess while being stored! 🤣 We reached 100 straight days of temps 100 degrees or more today with many of those days over 110. Supposed to be over 110 next 3 days. Hope that's the end of it! We already broke the record for the hottest summer on record. I'm ready for some cool weather! Hope the kitties are doing well.
The kitties are doing well, my wife loves them and cares for them like babies. They on the other hand are doing major battles all over the house. My favorite is when one of them gets on the highest level of the "tree" and tries to lift the other by his ear! I am sorry for your heat. We too will have high heat this week. Take care.
I can tell it's solid as a rock now. Looks like you've solved the stability problem purr-fectly and it is such a beautiful cat tree! It really adds to your decor and has to be such fun to watch them play as you and your wife are sitting at the table. Don't you wish you could bottle their energy! Cats are such fun. You can buy them the most expensive toys but they are happiest with something that crinkles, a paper grocery bag, empty box or pipe cleaner! I'm sure they are a real joy to have around as you go through your daily activities. Thanks for the update!
You always give the most inspiring comments. Yes, the cats now have raging running and wrestling battles up and down the tree. Later, they will sleep on the different levels. Have a nice Labor Day weekend, now you can look forward to a cool Fall with monsoonal rains.
Cats love Hight . I have a cat tree, Tow actually,, but carpeting, does not last all that long, nor the rap around rope. They do like the cozy comfort of feeling hidden. I do notice after having several cat trees, as they make their way up and one other one chooses to skip the steps and just leap up, the tree become instantly top heavy, ready to fall over. just a thought, not sure to make the bottom heavier. One other thing, does not take long for carpet to look nasty, lots of shed cat fur. Wonder if slip on coves that are washable, to look nice around holidays and visitors come over.
I think my 30+ pound boulder kept it from tipping, but that one screw made it solid, even when they jump up at top speeds. Thanks for the Christmas decor ideas, I am sure my wife will want to decorate it in some way.
Thank you! The cats are now crawling all over it until they nap on it. Please share this video with cat folks. I want people to know how easy it is to build.
marking it with a pencil the way you did isn't the best way to get the profile. You should cut a 45 and use that profile for coping the molding. Also if the corner is less than 45 you should back cut it some. But in opinion if you are going to paint this is a lot of work with little benefit or no benefit after it is cocked in and painted. But definitely cope large crown molding. Just the opinion of an old finish carpenter and cabinet make
You really sound like you know what you are talking about. I only need this technique about once or twice a decade so it works well considering my needs and skill set. Thanks for enriching my comments for others to see.
Yeah I tried tire liners too and all that did was help me experience the sheer Joy of having my valve stems rip off. Bring tools and an extra two-minute tire you'll be fine
That turned out awesome! Not only is it functional as something the kitties love but it is a very beautiful decorative fixture in your house. BTW, your kitties are so cute!!! It's always great to have a pair so they can play together and keep each other company. I was wondering if the rope could just be fastened periodically with small nails or staples. That would make it easier to initially install and then replace should it become worn over time. That was a very challenging project since you had to think about balancing everything. Great job and tips on how to make the platform patterns, etc.!!!
It has been so satisfying to have it turn out well and have the kittens take it over as their own. Instead of looking like couch potatoes, they look like regal jungle cats. You are always so complimentary; you must have been an elementary school teacher. I taught middle school for 40 years myself. Take care; the monsoons and cool Fall weather will soon come to Arizona.
@@gfotinakes316 Cats love to be up high so I'm sure they're loving their "perches" to oversee all that's going on! We're in the midst of monsoon season now with the hurricane force winds that tear off roofs, all the lightning strikes and floods that come with the rain. Our desert soil doesn't absorb the water so dry river beds become raging torrents. Never a dull moment! That's what brings us rain though so it's a double edged sword. I'm a retired officer from the Sheriff's Office.....over 26 years and then worked for Rockler Woodworking and Hardware 10 years. I have great admiration for you teaching 40 years. That's AMAZING!!!
Ughhh wish I would have watched this towel trick first. I did the identical thing and cracked my windshield. Any money saved by doing it myself and costco savings is outweighed by my new windshield cost.
I see this video is pretty old, but still most informative nevertheless. Would just like to confirm that you can still get those window screen clips in the US? It seems over here in South Africa everybody's using screens with, wait for it… magnetic strips! 🤭😉 I guess I'll have to find out at my nearest hardware store if they still have them or something similar. Pretty sure I've seen the same type of clips used for another application. I've been using two magjig 95s in their universal mounting base with a rip guide attached on my dinky table saw for a couple of years ago now, but I still have four more magjigs unopened in their packaging, which I'd probably bought at the same time off a clearance table! They've become ridiculously expensive here in the meantime, but back then I paid the equivalent of about U$11. Didn't have a use for them then, but I've always had quite a thing about magnets and the switchability of these were simply too much to resist! I just knew I'd be glad to have bought them one day and I think this it!
If you don't have access to these screen clips, you could probably get a 3/4" x 1/8" piece of steel or brass and use a bench vise and ball pean hammer to bend it into the shape you want. I have been using this magnetic fence for years now and it still works as good as ever, and the magnets are excellent. Have a nice winter in South Africa. our summer is heating up right now. How is life down there?
@@gfotinakes316, wow, thank you so much for your very prompt response, and yes, that's a very good idea! I may just ask my brother to help me out with that, because he's the metalworker between the two of us and he'd be likely to have an off-cut or two. We're just outside Cape Town, so it's winter rainfall area here and we've been having a lot of it recently too, which makes it a little less convenient for me to get things done, because I do a lot of work with larger stuff outside under an awning. But it's still a lot better than drought anyway! So, all things considered, life here is pretty great, thanks. I'm retired, so I can spend more or less as much or as little time in the workshop as I want, trying my hand at woodwork. I can't call myself a woodworker yet, because I really haven't made anything of substance for general use yet. I've made a few items for my personal use in the workshop to make life a little easier there, but mostly without plans and just by sheer trial and error, and watching lots and lots of these great instructional videos you guys put up here on RU-vid! 👏👌 You'll probably never know exactly how much they are appreciated, even though they may sometimes contain just a single tip in the whole video that catches the viewer's eye at just the right moment. In this video's case I probably won't make this fence right away, because I REALLY need to create some order in my workshop, and for that I need more organised storage space, and for that I've just started putting up French cleats on the walls recently, but I shall definitely make this fence some time in the not too distant future. Those cleats, incidentally, are why I'm stuck for as long as it's raining, because I need to saw a full sheet of plywood in two, one half for the backing board and probably about half of the other for the cleats, for now, and that I can only do outside... I'm rambling, sorry! ☺️ You keep well over there and please don't stop making videos, and thanks once again, to ALL of you guys and gals! 🙏
@@gfotinakes316 Only way to stay cool right now is to stay inside! We've been 115+ degrees every day. 🥵 I'm so thankful for air conditioning!!! Hope your area isn't too hot. I think the majority of the USA is being effected by this heat wave. Best wishes!
Great Video, It Really helped me, I was struggling with other parts which came with wiper blades and now i know those are not needed for J shaped hook.
I have been doing this for years but most of my projects are small indoor items with little UV exposure. Here is a video I made that shows how to use superglue on a stationary project. Good luck! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ePshTwDCTLQ.html
No, I did not have any issues. I did use some large lag screws, as seen in my video. Try calling the Adjust-a-gate folks and ask them to give you suggestions.
