Man, you were filming 20 years ago in Ali Baba’s treasure cave, and after 20 years, everyone wants to know the place. I hope you are in good health and well, and that you find what you are looking for 20 years ago.
Military spec , 24volt European and Japanese heavy trucks. Many Japanese small trucks and 4X4s. Most earthmoving machines, cranes etc. Most military vehicles. Most large marine engines. Rail engines. Some large self contained agriculture equiment,eg combines
All the electrical components seemed to be stripped from these vehicles, I don't know if the engines and trans is all taken. The bodies seems to still be fairly good condition.
Nice instructional video! I've learned a bit about my FJ40's wiring through trial and error, so wish I'd come across this sooner. Have you thought about replacing these incandescent bulbs with LED's? I'm debating which to put in my rig -- I don't want TOO bright of a light, especially since my dimmer is broken.
Hi Tim, I just don't like LED lights in old cars , old bulbs give so much more ambiance. With the 3 Watt bulbs you could hardly see what was going on on the dash cluster, with 5 Watt bulb it's sufficient. Same goes for the license plate lights, bulb with a much warmer light.
The low voltage is only at the license plate lights, and the supply to my tail lights. This is just coming from the battery, without the vehicle running. I'm pretty sure I have issues with grounding, and possibly some partially burned wires after 40 years of use.
That looks great, awesome job. I'm trying to restore a lx450 bad shape, been looking for the frame bolts nuts since some are way to rusted, do you have any leads tips. thanks
I used fully threaded Button Head Hexagon Socket Drive Screw in 10.9 quality grade steel, zinc plated and painted the heads black. I drilled out all of my frame bolts (approx 140 pcs ??) use flat washers and Hexagon Nylon Insert Thick Nuts. M10 and M12 bolts where the sizes I used. That's a thicker diameter than the original rivets.
