I like “Nowhere Boy.” I’d agree with Joe that I never really thought “this is John,” but I did like how they portrayed the John-Julia-Mimi relationship.
I caught the end of this live last week so time to tune in now! Great to have Dr. Ken back. Dr Ken is so right about “Yesterday” as a film. The lead actor was largely awful.

Since ive overplayed, The Imagine album the last 40 years. Mind Games is my new favorite John Lennon Album. This remix gives it new life it like a new album to me. Its a pop album. Maybe not as brilliant as Plastic Ono or Imagine. Thx for video guys
Great discussion! I am enjoying this new set. I will go back to it more for the other 5 CDs with the alternate versions as I do prefer the 2002 version for the original album. Although the original mix is John’s vision, I think the original mix does a great disservice to the musicians including John not to mention his vocals….the material deserves better and I am glad this set is being celebrated. Joe, I disagree with you that “streaming doesn’t exist for collectors.” I’m a serious collector too but primarily of substantive content, which when streamed can be captured to permanent media if desired. Arguably, streaming reaches many more people with content an artist wishes to make available.
also you can create playlists of the best versions. Thats the reason I have still the mind games ultimate mixes of 2020 in my head regularly and I hear that they sound better than the same songs in this set. Thats why they stay in my playlist.
I've always felt like an outcast preferring Mind Games and Walls & Bridges to Imagine and Plastic Ono Band. I feel like John is much more lively, fun and creative in his '73 and '74 work. I'm glad this remix is at least encouraging more people to be open to re-listening and enjoying Mind Games more. I think these songs are wonderful and now they sound better!
I bought the original in 1973 ! My view is Sean sees the work as art ! If you listen free without prejudice to the ultimate remix it is actually so much better in all respects ! Art evolves ? Has to ? We have the 1973 album when John messed up the final production, i loved it as it was a John album. If Art is damaged it can and is renovated, now the sax really adds nothing, i would concur it doesn’t bother me originally, but i feel now the song works. I feel the backing vocals sat wrongly now they work better ! John rushed the final production he says as much and i feel his often dismissive self reviews are because he knew he didn’t get it out better ? Sean must be credited with creating such a masterpiece of the repackage with the interactive games and thought provoking revisit ? People are missing this ? The maps the treasure hunt etc just gave us fans a beautiful experience! I attended the Liverpool Treasure hunt, we made new friends chattered about love peace john etc but we got a free map and booklet CD and tshirt ! Worth £70+ who else does this ? I am loving the whole mind games adventure Great conversation
I respectfully disagree with your opinion here, Tim. I never had a problem with the production on the original mix. I applaud Sean for all his efforts on the box set, especially the other 5 discs, which I think are absolutely brilliant. As someone who really only cares about the music, not as much for the packaging, the interactive games are clever, and a great play off the title Mind Games, but I'll only really go to the music. I loved the use of the sax on One Day At A Time and felt Sean shouldn't have taken it out. I've always said that remixes are just another way of listening to the same album, but I likely will always have a preference for the original mix since that was approved by the artist. it would be interesting to know what John would have thought about this and his other box sets.
@@kenmichaelsradio748 Yes can’t really disagree, i too like the song, my wife was singing along today to my 2002 copy, which is excellent 👌🏻 she doesn’t really know the album but enjoyed it listening on a long car journey . I don’t mind the no sax 🎷 but it was of the time and very much a john thing although i didn’t like the sax on the one to one live concert? Sean is an excellent musician and it’s brave to reconsider John’s music this way, the original is still available ? It’s perhaps like changing Van Gogh’s sunflowers 🌻 for Roses 🌹 Many people seem to knock the original, like you i always loved it, perhaps Sean was reinventing for 2024, if it changes minds for the positive it’s ok for me ? And keeps John’s music current again it’s ok for me, i perhaps would have done a 2024 remix with no music changes and perhaps offered the Sean remix as an alternative? Everyone would have been happier perhaps, has Sean made any statement regarding his mix etc ? Enjoy you work thank you 🙏
play track one on each cd that has the hidden tracks (they actually are listed in fine print on the cd) and hold the << button for approximately the length of the embedded hidden track (but don't go too far or you will end up back to the start of track 1.)
Bring on the Lucie = Lucifer, the bringer of light, ie enlightenment, Lennon obviously enjoyed the word play with it's association with Lucy in the Sky etc
Thanks TMT! always a treat to bring on Chip and learn so much. under VALUED in the cannon of Lennon solo releases imo. I always go to this release since a teen for a fix of John. don't really know why except Mind Games kicks major ass BTW - in 1973 this album co$t US 4.99$ (not on sale). in 1976 when I started buying... 3.99 US on sale. Shaved Fish (the most recent release in 1976) still 4.99US! sigh...any good sales on this box set j/k ... but my goodness gracious what have we become? this set is as much/more than some BUTCHER COVERS. *falls off soapbox Thanks again guys!
I think the whole re imagining of Mind Games is utterly magical ! I did the Liverpool treasure hunt and The estate gave out £100s of free gifts, the Lennon Liverpool Ed Fairburn map, T shirts, postcards CDs and Cubes ! Mind Games is a beautiful set of songs in my opinion ! I think he mixed it for Radio 📻, but the new mixes are more sympathetic to the modern technology ? I like what i have heard on the uncut magazine free CD! Sean i feel has a lot of respect for the Album and true fans ? Great show, looking forward to the month of Mind Games !
