This channel is a place for me to document some of my projects, as well as my fishing adventures.
I am making a move more towards my fishing adventures. I fish solo most of the time as my work is 2 weeks on and 2 off and most folks I fish with have what they call "Real Jobs". So it is a fun way to recall some of the adventures I have had. I want to develop my interactions with the camera a little bit more and work towards bringing the viewer into my adventures. This is still a new idea to me, so lets see how it develops.
Please join me on a fishing adventure!

Make sure that you replace the low quality Chinese fuel lines with Viton Vitube. Its made in the USA by New Age Industries. It is more heat resistant than Tygon Excelon or Sten Blue which is important in the closed casing.
Mine has the same issue. Usually takes 5-10 pulls to get going. Once it’s going it’s solid. It’s dang near impossible to start when it’s cold outside. I’ll try this fix and see if it helps with a light weight oil for cold starts
I used the MOD2 cam. The point of the modification is not to over RPM the prop but torque. The extra RPM's are a bonus though as you point out have a diminished return.
I seem to be having the same issue with the choke. But when I push it with my finger, there is very little play/slack in it, which I believe would be insignificant for it not to start. What else can I check?
I had very little play as well, but if you push it with your finger and have someone pull start it, I would bet it starts in 1-3 pulls. If that is the case you need to tighten the cable up.
Without more information I am not sure I can help. I would need to know if when it dies, whether your spark plug is dry or wet. Your issue could be either to much fuel or too little.
Ok please some one help..went over everything..I overloaded it then it stopped now won't start all systems in tact meaning good fuel flow oil no lose cables what did I do it's only 6 mths old I appreciate any help
I just did the choke adjustment (which worked wonders) but also noticed it went right into overload. Haven’t had a chance to check into it but can let you know what I find.
Hi all! I think mines is having fuel issues. Runs with starting spray only. Fuel does flow from the bowl drain tube but eventually stops once drained. Any idea’s?
Good luck out there! Let me know how you do! As you saw in the video I got into a small school of bigger fish, I got lucky and the smaller one got off!
They sell the normal ice rod which is what I normally use. This is the one I built at the shop. It is 7 off the top x 42" using their normal ice rod blank and upgraded eyes and seats. 3 rivers fly and tackle in Wasilla talk to Mike or AJ they both know what my specs were. Come winter they maybe willing to build them for you, but you would have to ask. They are a great group of guys and do great work. I took their product and truly tested it to its limits! Why..... Because I am sick!!! I would love to know there are others out there doing the same!!
Wow Steve, watching you fight that beauty on such small gear was really something for me, a trout fisherman, but you knife work (I was a butcher for 12 yrs in my younger days) was truly artistry. Thanx for sharing. 😎💜
Thank you. I have been a fishing addict for many many years. The Challenge of using the Small gear for fishing is the tip of the Iceberg. I hope you noted I had to tie the fish to the boat as the rollers were making it a bit more difficult. Thank you for the kind words on my knife work. I am proud of all I have learned and been taught over the years, starting with the most important piece... A sharp knife. Again thank you so much for the kind words, they really mean a lot, as I am just learning how to really use this channel and all the support is wonderful.
Ismael - Fishing on the salt rarely goes as expected does it... Tuna is one of the species I look forward to catching someday in the future. Best of luck!
Been using one 4yrs I never expected that lil thing to do as good as it has. We found bringing it in and keeping it warm when not in use keeps it happy It runs and runs and runs Ps does not like 30 below 😉
I always brought it in. The issue I was having was even in the dead of summer. For me is was the cable stretched and would not seal off the air intake to force fuel from the bowl. I do love them they are nice and quiet. Thank you for your support.
You definitely have to work for Legal size Lingcod and find good structure. Though there are a lot of 20-30" Lings all over Kachemak bay and lower cook inlet, but as you know they have to be a minimum of 35" and we make our minimum 36" just to be safe.
Thank you Kelly, that was one of 3 legal ones we caught that day. I will sift through the rest of the footage to get a few more videos up. Thank you for your support.
Nice fish! Ha - I have to admit I've never seen a halibut caught on an ice fishing rod before! Interesting approach but it delivered and filled the fish box! Big baits catch big fish! Tight lines! Captain Zac
Thank you for your support Captain Zac, I started out fishing with the Ice rod just as a extra challenge and to push the rods ability. Now, it is just about the only way I fish for Halibut.
It changed my plan for the day. I had originally wanted switch over to my ice fishing rod, but when this guy showed up, as soon as I found the fish, it was all business. I caught my limit and left, instead of trying for a 75lb fish on the ice rod. I did go and limit on salmon and rock fish that day though.
I bet that’s fun to bust out the laker ice rod. One of my favorite trips out was jigging ling and rock fish on a silver/king rod. I’m surprised I didn’t blow it up that day but i was 100% willing 😂
I didn't have any wrist fatigue using the ice rod, but I had a lot using a trout rod. The added leverage and lack of back bone seem to be the culprits. The Ice fishing rod is working out great for Halibut, the weak spot for me is the reel and its line capacity. That and I have already killed one reel this season doing this.
😂 ya I bet it’s a fun fight. Have you hooked any Ling I want to take mine out to Seward and try for a keeper ling once it opens. Mine doesn’t have much of a fighting butt on it so my forearms burn like crazy 😂
I think I was actually using the Lifan in this video. I do prefer the Preditor 212 over the Lifan, but they are both reliable as long as you stay away from mods.
@@knotaddicted955 Oh, I know you! lol Not sure why I didn't put the pieces together. I'm thinking of doing a camshaft swap in my little motor. I talked with Randy at Dyno cams about the original CL-1 camshaft. He said it would definitely increase power in the 4,000+ RPM range, and would only be a drop in change with no changes other than good 10.8 lbs springs and proper valve lashing.
If you want a partner in a boating video, let me know. I'm hoping to get some better ones up this summer. You can check mine out, you'll know where I am.
A bigger prop would not help as it is twist that increases or decreases speed. Slipping and or over revving could be helped by a prop size change. The prop I was running was larger than I might normally run though it would not have changed the fact the engine now has more than enough power. I have a more aggressive prop that I ran after this "first run" with the MOD 2.
How deep was that like 8 inches or so? Less? Looks like the motor worked out awesome for you... You think with another person on the boat it would of still got through ?
Gars Gone Wild the water was between 3" - 5" sometimes less. With just me in the boat I draft less than 3" on step. With another person add another 1". I there is a video another guy on RU-vid did of my boat in action just look up my channel name and it will show up. My boat was LOADED down with gear and still drafted less than the one that was following me.
1 Alaskaman sweeet! I know some shallow areas here around 3 to 6 inches but the mud is soft.. I want to try my boat and see if it will make it through . I'm gonna have the 212 cc in a 14 ft flat jon boat
HI I was wondering if you can tell me how you did your throttle and handle holders as I am building one with the exact same engine and everything. -Thanks
Jordan Dingman in this video I was using the swamp runners original Thailand racing throttle. I now use a bike brake lever and cable for my throttle. When I switch my carb out I will use a twist throttle.
Jordan Dingman you loosen the nut that tensions the fast to slow lever, that is on most stock engines. Once you loosen that nut the springs will return your throttle back to slow for you. Look between the muffler and air box, it will be a plate with a nylock nut. That's the one you need to loosen until the springs are able to do their job.
+temple Dillard I know why it does it I just need to figure out how to isolate it from the hull. It looks like it is worse when I took out a couple of the joints that allow adjustments. I can't bring myself to wear the go pro 😆. I do agree about the RU-vid editing, when ever I have used it, it makes the video pretty funky. So this is with the stock 6.5 lifan it moves pretty good.
