Honestly, Washington is going to be in a flat out rebuild by the time this deal matters, so I'm pretty sure they know PLD is going to cry his way out when it's time. They shifted Keumper (who himself is on a bit of a fat deal) and got a C to help Ovi get the record. Win win.
Dumb deal but great for him, goes to a team with an already built in excuse of being an old team trying to compete in the East, so no real expectations are in place.
The tide has turned and it looks like Florida is now struggling mightily. I sense that Edmonton is going to take it. We have seen Florida lose 4 straight in the finals last year so it is rather likely.
the 4th goal was disgusting. We all need to realize how lucky we are to be able to watch him while he's still in his prime. Love him or hate him, you can't his greatness.
I know people who lost everything over gambling. I know some people who lost their job, family, home , car, etc .I know of people who committed suicide over gambling. The people who promote it are a next level of EVIL in my mind. No responsible parent would let their kids watch the gambling promoting NHL. What kind of parent would you have to be to let your kids watch that crap? I will tell you, A completely irresponsible parent. I have also lost ALL respect for any pro athlete who promotes it. People I once looked up to and now am disgusted by their lack of morals. What kind of person promotes this stuff to kids? You have to know kids want to watch hockey. You already have millions upon millions of dollars. You want to destroy kids futures to so can have a few more million? What is wrong with you? GREED .....
Im a big Oilers fan and every game i watch florida continues to impress me and i truly see why they made it this far. Both teams deserve to be here, i hope oilers win game 6 cause a game 7 whatever the outcome, will be such a spicy game
I think there is a difference between greatest of all time and best. I think Gretzky will always be the greatest just because of his influence on the sport, versatility and accomplishments that will never be met. But in pure skill level I think Connor McDavid is the best player to ever play the game
I'm in Montreal and as everyone knows we went for Slafkofski. This is all fine and dandy for the moment. But I wouldn't discard Shane Write too fast. The guy is intelligent on the ice, he understands the game far better than we give him credit for. He's got a great shot and is a good passer.. his game style is mature and, though there isn't anything that stands out as being extraordinary, he is strong in every aspect of the game and I predict that he has a great career in front of him. We didn't see yet what he is capable of. The thing is that it takes longer to develop ten talents at once than to develop only one. It is like learning languages. Learning three languages at the same time means that you will not be proficient in any of them for a while. But when you are finished learning, you have a net advance over someone who only speaks one language. I don't know if the analogy stands, but this is the reason why d-Men and centers take longer to mature. I think that in two years, people will look at Shane Write's playing and understand how useful and dominant he has become.
I love that this series is such an opposition of styles : The panthers have elite goaltending behind very mobile Ds and very powerful forwards, the Oilers have much less mobile Ds and not such great goaltending (still high level don't get me wrong) but they play impressivley tight together to compensate and can rely on superbly nifty fast & highly skilled forwards lead by a stellar player for the transition into offense. Most importantly these two teams are both really well balanced in their own respective style and it makes their games extra interesting. (I just kinda wish there were a bit less of this unnecessary cheap shot artistry on display, they don't need it.)
That's Hockey, It starts on frozen ponds across Canada. Clearing snow so you can skate and sprain your ankle on cracked ice. It moves forward with arguments and slash's over who has to go find the puck that flew into the snow over the cleared ice. It advances after years of 5am travel starts across Canada from small town to small town rink with a few stitches... and pinnacles if you make the big league missing half your teeth. Hockey players are a special breed of tough. That's Hockey.
The oce was horrendous, Florida needs a new rink somebody is going to get hurt on that sirface and the game is borderline a different sport altogether. Pucks boucing , skaters losing their edge, shots sticking, just awful
Even as a Canucks fan cheering for the oilers, saying the Panthers suck and lucked into the playoffs is DELUSIONAL 😂 They're an incredibly talented team and have had an insanely difficult run to the cup. No team that beats Tampa, Boston, NY, and goes up 3-0 on Edmonton is anywhere in the realm of sucking. Give yer head a shake
Die hard oiler fan here… 2 down 2 to go and this time they don’t need a streak of 8 or 16 or 5, then need 4 and there halfway there. We no matter what any fan from anywhere can say… this is a great great series with unbelievable idk how to say this is but 1 word… unfrickinbelievable
It truly is. No better way to win a Stanley Cup than fighting back from 3 down. I noticed Skinner tends to do better in do or die games. But can he poll of a third? And will Bob snap back?
