Aw, that's lovely of you to say. It's a bit of a mishmash-I was born in Australia, but my mum was English, and my dad is South African. Oh, and I have an Irish hubby. It's all going on!
I have just discovered your channel 👍 I am 68 and just starting out. Your videos are very helpful for me as I can't seem to get started I have the paints pastels you name it I bought it trying to get going. So I am binge watching 😊 thank you so much for all your help and hard work 👍 ❤️ blessings from Ontario 🇨🇦 🙏 ❤
I’m still coughing so much at night & we must have had the same thing. My voice went creaky too. Nasty cold or whatever it was. I’m loving these pages a whole lot and did sign up for the free part. I’ve got an entire half-page of classes I’ve signed up for and haven’t done yet‼️‼️
I've finally stopped coughing, hope you have too! Richie had a bit of a rough time editing this video because of my coughing, but we got there in the end. I hope you get a chance to check out the free class. It's so easy to sign up for things and forget about them. It is a lovely little mojo booster-very manageable and easy to implement.
So gorgeous, Laura! Some of that was nostalgic for me, too--I loved your Flourish and Flow course so much! I still go back and watch it for inspiration! Thanks for the free course--really looking forward to diving in!
Thank you for this! I signed up for your class and looking forward to it. I'm just getting back into mixed media and sketchbook/journal work. Have been doing watercolor for several year, and I find I've forgotten a lot. Having to buy art supplies since I gave my Golden acrylics and so much for to a senior center not realizing that I would return to it. Never give up any art supplies!!!
I am so happy you've signed up! I think that you're going to love it, and hopefully you do not need to purchase too many supplies (although, I must admit I love new supplies)! See you inside the course 😊💖
The course looks great, Laura! I have some scheduling issues that prevent me from signing up, but I wanted to say thank you for the freebie and let you know that I do look forward too signing up for your classes sometime in the not too distance future. I appreciate your work - the art and the teaching!
I like the beautiful color combinations you used in your sketchbook. Your mark-making is interesting to watch. It reminds me of Zentangle, another relaxing form of drawing. I'm looking forward to watching some of your other videos.
I love the inspiration in your sketchbook pages. I collected so much blue and white china in the past, so I do appreciate how you took your ideas from your own blue and white pieces. Beautiful.
It's funny how things come out in a sketchbook. My daughter was rummaging in the cupboards and found some of my blue and white china. She put some of it on display and now here I find it showing up in my sketchbook!
Thank you Laura. Your colors I like to believe come from where you live💙🤎The blue spreads have wonderful lost & found detail & color mingles. Inspiring to see how you work🐾📚🖌️
Thanks Sabine, I've definitely been bringing in some of my favourite landscape inspired colours here, from the coast to the peachy sands and foresty greens. Some of my favourite combos. We have a very diverse landscape, which I love. Thanks for watching and enjoying all the details!
Hi Laura - love your sketchbook reveals! You are such a talent and natural teacher!! Question for you…I did the October 2021 Modern Mixed Media course. Is the MMM course that is open for registration different from the 2021 course? Thank you ❤
thank you = You came recommended by our Art Therapist with Moore’s Cancer Center here in San Diego. Alessandra Colfi is the greatest art therapist and encouraged us by watching you and your 5 day challenge for inspiration. Thank you from San Diego
Thank you Grace for sharing that with me. I just read your comment out to my husband and he said to me that this is one of the best things my art could ever be used for! I am so glad that my creative content can provide some comfort and inspiration to anyone who needs it ❤️
Hi Laura - only just discovered your channel so please forgive me if you have addressed this elsewhere, but what mixed media fixatives would you recommend, if you use any other than the grease proof paper? or do you find that the Sennelier pastel fixative works for all media? I have forever been hunting for a good mixed media fixing option that wouldn’t stain some of the media or melt others. Everything seems to negatively affect something!
Yay! I love brought, vibrant colours! ❤️❤️ I don’t use neutrals. (My browns, greys etc aren’t touched). Love you using these fabulous new popping colours! Xx
Glad you are enjoying this shift, Annie! Up till now I have been the opposite to you; all the brights end up being untouched and the neutrals get such a workout. Change is good though!
Found you through an art friend and I am enjoying and getting so inspired by all your videos. I will be investing in your classes soon. Thank you for the burst of joy in mixed media I needed to revive my own practice. Your website is beautiful and easy to go through.
Hi Laura, wow! You picked out some awesome colors!. I was setting up my autumn palette and we chose quite a few similar pigments. I don’t have jadeite so I substituted cascade green. Likewise, I subbed sap green for serpentine. I will play with my dot cards to see what I need to add. I’m looking forward to mixing up some magic colors and I am ready for your next class. Cheers!
