I am considering this scan tool for my Hyundai / Kia. Do you think it's worth the $200 price? I do DYI maintenance such as brakes, oil, transmission fluid, diff fluid and TPMS. basic stuffs.
@@HiFiInsider absolutely if they have a Hyundai/kia specific one. Nothing beats this tool for its price range. It’s not perfect, but does surprisingly a ton.
I blew a head gasket on my 2018 Honda Accord 1.5. I did perfect maintenance on that car and it still blew. My personal trusted mechanic was able to fix it, but he showed me exactly why these engines fail and his wording was “ This engine has a piss poor headgasket design”. In all the years of him working on cars, he said this car is definitely up there with its poor headgasket quality. He also mentioned that these head gaskets are inevitably going to fail with maybe some exceptions here and there, but ultimately they will fail and it’s only a matter of time as to when.
Thank You. Great Channel for Honda. I have a question on my 2.0T The Maintenance is showing me 50% Oil Life and a A3 code which I think is Transmission Fluid Change but the Honda Dealership I bought the car from did a on 5/28/24 Transmission Fluid Change. Should I still take it in to my Honda Dealer to check it?
Glad to see it has lasted long enough before this failure. Is this typically an expensive repair to do and do you think repairing this would help this car go back on the road again?
My biggest concern with this is I’ve heard mixed things as well, most car people I know have never had this issue and it’s because their super good with doing maintenance and most importantly DO NOT FOLLOW MAINTENANCE MINDER they’ve been increasing it over the years and we somehow just think that’s normal, trust your gut and do the proper maintenance that’s been tried and true over the years, stop the 7k mile oil changes and stop listening to the new maintenance intervals for god sake🤣💀
Big way to avoid this in the future is getting arp headstuds, that’s where the weak point is for the cylinder head, if you get arp headstuds which aren’t all that expensive you will likely never have this problem again especially if you aren’t tuned
Still we have Hondas and seen Hondas with wayyyy more mileage and no head gasket replacement. Over 200,000 miles doesn’t surprise me. It should’ve went longer. No reason my aunt has over 300,000 miles on her 2015 honda accord exl and still going
Appreciate you keeping the common folks informed about this mess this Honda won't address. Routine HG failures under 150k is plenty of evidence that there are chronic design failures that Honds needs to address but chooses to ignore. This isn't Kia/Hyundai, Honda owners paid for and expect a better experience!
At this point, I think imma sell me 19HAH Touring. I can't be arsed any more with Honda. My hybrid also got the power control unit noise (clutch noise from hybrid generator), ANC issues and just poor gas mileage compared to the Camry. This has been my own experience. Honda is doing something wrong since 2018.
That’s wild, I’ve worked in shops before where they’ve done this at least on suspension parts, but never seen someone sell a transmission job and didn’t replace it! People really need to start asking themselves if they’re going to spend the money especially a major job like that, ask if you can see the old part!
Don’t mean to bust any bubbles but I replaced a Long block due to Rod knock. At 62k (owner did 10k oil changes) and my neighbor is currently waiting on his Long Block for the same reason at 108k miles… we are in Northern VA though so traffic? lol but his also was in terrible condition. Sludge and also 10k oil change history.
Who tf puts off-brand control arms with camber adjustment on an otherwise bone stock CR-V? I swear Honda's cars always somehow attract really weird people.
What if compressor keeps doing a short cycle every few secs (approx 10 secs) and the car vibrates every few secs as well and the AC inside the car is blowing cold air?
@@gibranmarcam123 something is wrong them. May be building too much pressure due to a blockage of some sort, you’re going to have to get it checked out.
yOU SHOW a brand new vehicle. What is your experience with this model ? I have mine with 2017. The major and the first problem I experienced I been stocked on a muddy surface off the road. The car was not able to take off even with no load and maybe 6 % angle. AWD ( All Wheels Drive ) in this model is a joke. It is not a true AWD. Maximum you can get is simultaneous rotation of a rear right one and a front left, that's it. I got really confused by such vehicle futility off road. All ad videos posted on Honda's website are fake or orchestrated recording. Based on my 8 years of experience driving this model it has many issues, 10+ recalls ( well, been fixed for free, but...) Honda Ridgeline was not designed to tow any camper. I towed one for 200 miles and over two days my transmission stopped working, I've been advised ( by a dealership) to change it asking for $11K including tax. And all happened inside 55K miles. It seems a good stylish urban pick up. Not reliable off road absolutely. Not reliable on a snow surface, don't even think you gonna get out of a muddy puddle. On L shift you gonna drive 1 mile and after that a vehicle stops telling you a "transmission fluid is overheated" and you cannot move an inch forward. You have to wait for a couple hours to cool it down and only after that you can continue driving. maybe this model is good for city boys.
I love the simplicity of this car but I hate the CVT. I had no experience when I got one. The CVT drives like shit. I am hoping to never have another CVT. It's like a giant rubber band. Feels like a slingshot. My CVT is jerky when I cruise below 1500 rps always jerking back and forth like the car is in the wrong gear. With that being said...I do maint this car religiously. I have 160,000 miles on my civic CVT still going strong. My tip is to constantly check under the hood and under the car.
Can the head studs be removed and replaced with the AARP hardware without removing the cams? I was thinking of upgrading the head studs just as extra insurance, but if the cams need to come out and the timing needs to be set, then I may as well just pull the cylinder head and put a fresh gasket.
@@BCautosolutions so what would you suggest? Replacing the head gasket and using the arp hardware as preventative maintenance? The crv has about 85,000 kms
