Hello Karl, i am owner of two B1, one B2, Sony TA-N7B several Ta-e88 and 88b, Kyocera C910, B910, Kenwood Supremes and so on ans so on. All my amps and preamps has been fully restaurated. In your video you are mention the Ta-e88 and compare it to the Yamaha C1, has the Sony been restaurated? I heard lots of preamps and never heard anything better than Sony even TOTL Accuphase like C2800 cant compete with Sony. Only Kenwood L07c-II is near but with slightly different type of sound. In The Audio Engineering Handbook I read a couple of decades ago there was a special mention of the visual cues impacting the sound quality perception. They cited experiments when a very expensive high end audio setup was placed in front of the listeners and a reasonably priced quality setup was hidden behind a sound transparent wall made of the speaker grill material, and vise versa. They ran 4 scenarios to the unaware test subjects: kit 1 visible - kit 1 plays, kit 1 visible - kit 2 plays, kit 2 visible - kit 1 plays, kit 2 visible - kit 2 plays. The listeners prefered the sound of the expensive kit when they saw it, even if the kit 2 was playing. The sound of the expensive kit playing behind the wall 'lacked in musicality, sound stage, etc' when the inexpensive kit was visible. This effect is used by high end companies to make their kit look beautiful and expensive as the perceived sound quality will be positively impacted by the visual cues psychological effect.

Would definitely make it more justified... and if they included 32X and whatever PC-Engine's equivalent was, and backwards compatibility with Master System. Then all you'd need is the LD and two pacs, plus they should have included two spaces for pacs and/or built-in karaoke pac.
That's the ultimate system in theory, in practice it is seriously flawed in the most important aspects. That video card will have incompatibilities with dos and Windows 98 3D titles, anything beyond a Geforce FX is a bad choice, and in the sound department Windows 98 is half midi and half EAX, WinXP is all EAX, a simple SB Live + SB AWE + softmpu configuration would have been a much better choice. Basically it's impossible to have a nice system for Dos, w98, and wXP

Great video, the author is more knowledgeable than me. I'm upgrading my audio system and considering replacing my cheap cables. I had but lost an article that explained what makes a good or bad cable. Different impeadence from source and return REQUIRES a capacitance that needs to be at a certain level. Too high causes frequency rolloff in the upper frequencies too low and the total signal degrades. at a certain point the capacitance is just right, any lower WON'T make a difference but may cause other problems. The tests in this video suggests all of these cables probably have about the same capacitance. I saw one reviewer ( to be kept nameless) compare a dirt cheap cable to a three thousand dollar snake oil ( in my opinion) cable. He tested the cables A B blind folded, and preferred B because he found the treble was too harsh in A, he felt B was warm and natural. Perhaps he should have lowered the treble when listening to A, but obviously cable B was restricting the upper frequencies, perhaps having too high a capacitance. By the way, cable B was the $3000 one.
I get the impression either CQM was missing some low-pass filtering the other chips had or maybe it had some quantization problems introducing extra higher harmonics.
the big problem with getting an amp like this is, if the amp needs any sort of major service to the V-FET circuitry, you need a rocket scientist to fix the thing, I know from people who tried to fix Sony's many V-Fet amps from that era, they are very difficult to correctly get fully working again.

When I replaced a Marantz CD6006 (used as a transport only) with an Audiolab 9000CDT transport - both into the same Teac NT-503 dac over the same cable - I heard a significant improvement in terms of quieter background, more detail, etc.
i assume you also fix the problems with games when the CPU speed is over 2.0GHz on windows 98? and also the problems with DirectX as installing 9.0 causes some older DirectX games like The Need for Speed SE to not work.
😂😂😂 this video is a lie . Complete lie , only applies to these who use very low quality systems or have hearing problems or simply don't know their music to catch difference. There are many variables here and in many cases good cable will make a nice difference. In some cases for some people it will not make a difference, room acoustics make far bigger difference of course and if someone throw speakers into untreated room those nuances that cables bring may not be heard at all while same set up in a room with good acoustics will be heard very clearly . Also that AQ cable you show could a china made fake ...
Different horses for different courses. Short cable runs well, yeah, let's say cabling can be subjective. However, if one's system also happens to integrate a multi-channel setup too. To keep the noise floor to a minimum one really needs to go with shielded cables. Unshielded cables can often act as antennas for attracting RF, and the longer the cable, the better the antenna! Probably explains why when I used to disconnect my Heights and surrounds within 10 minutes, the noise floor used to come back down to satisfactory levels. The more cables I shield, the quieter the room becomes. In fact, the last group of cables I shielded were my HDMI's and Lo behold, the room became slightly quieter yet again. When friends came around, I used to show them loud it goes. Nowadays, I prefer to press pause and show them how quiet it goes. None of them gets it, of course 😂
When switching on the bedroom TV, I could hear the signal even before the soundbar came on. Managed to make it up to 80% quieter with an entry-level HDMI shielded cable. However, being extremely sensitive to this particular type of noise, and after putting up with it for over 6 months, I ended up purchasing its stable mate flagship cable. Now, the faint background signal noise has totally disappeared 🥳 Conclusion; many different forms of shielding!

How do you slow down the CPU in order to corect for speed issues (or even start) some old DOS titles? or properly initialize sound in games like DOTT, Highway Hunter, etc ??

You are giving missed information about gold transistors. Sony TA-N90ES also use same gold transistors. And also after 95 all top model es series integrated amp are use same gold transistors
have same board. it can work with c2d (with pin mod, some volt mod), up to x6800 so you can get an ultimate performance, get you bios updated to c2d version (from vogons), and you're good.

You can test if there were errors in your recording process. Record twice the same track with same cable. If the two recording cancel out each other, there’s a difference in cable. If they don’t, there’s an error in your recording process.
I had a Voodoo2 and a friend of mine a banshee. When we had a Lan party both cards had a good performance, never know he had a slower GPU. Maybe because he had a K6/2 cpu and I a normal K6 🤷

Wow, I had an Ensoniq Soundscape and had no idea it had MT-32 support, but considering the results here, yeah, I am probably happier for having not known, as I would have been convinced my card was broken. Edit: wow, immediate nostalgia blast for some of those DOOM MIDIs, haha. And Duke Nukem 3D too!
