Need another big arm starter if there to advance if they make the playoffs. The bench is a joke! U get into late innings other Mrs see that bench they smile. Bring up luken baker the big swat!!!! At least he's a late inning home run threat!!
C+ The Start hurt, they’ve bounced back nicely but they have clear weaknesses. Was tempted to give them a B but the close games really erk me. Yes it’s great they win them but it’s bad they have so many of them. At any point winning could become losing. The run differential Although admittedly a bit overrated showcases the need for those close wins. Only positive I can see from all that is they will be ready in October for those close games. They can make this an A+ season with a strong trade deadline and maintaining their winning ways.
Pretty much every stat they have is middle of the pack...meaning they deserve a middle of the pack grade. Due to having a really good bullpen, they get a C+
glad to see you back with content Charlie! I would say B. After the Milwaukee series in May when I gave up on them, they have turned it around. Will be interesting what the next 2 weeks will bring. Hope to see your take with B on low hanging fruit..
Mediocre team at best. I love the Cardinals but I have lost interest in this team. I have better things to do with my time than stressing out over this team.
B 37 wins gets you 87wins second half. Ollie is Plus 6,like him or not. Marmol has played the hand dealt. He and Kevin Cash grade out as the top mgrs first half. They need and arm to take pressure of a very tired BP.
right Charlie that's always been the rule in my shop no politics or religion discussions, they get a C+ possible a B when you consider they have a bad manager, below average starting pitching and horrible hitting from their two " superstars " and several games over .500 regardless of who they play, because lets be real were did you REALLY expect them to be at this point at the start of the season
Thinking everything hinges on Goldenado and Gorman improving. Dramatically. Would like to acquire Fedde. 4.4 WAR, 7-4 and 2.99 ERA on a 27-71 team. Outstanding. Would happily give up Carlson/Herrera for him. Even other combinations with pieces like Nootbaar/Edman.
Because at the start of the season the reality is you didn't pick them to be over .500 did you ? Tell the truth how many games did you have them under .500 at this point
Mediocre.....Nothing more. For me, this organization lost me for the time being when they awarded a last place finish with a contract extension. I'll always be a fan no matter what.....But when the discussion is "We're fighting for a Wild Card", it reminds me of the 90's. Just not setting myself up for a first round knockout in a Wild Card. Have a great day Charlie! 🇺🇸
Paul Goldschmidt/Nolan Arenado should receive a giant F. Which leads to them needing to repay back part of their salaries for being absolute dumpster fire individuals.
They turned it around but it's easy to have the best record when you are playing the easiest schedule in the league. I think they go back to under .500 ball with the 4th toughest schedule coming up. I still think they dont win more than 82 games max.
Honestly, if you imagine a Cardinal in your head, JJ is it. Good guys that can play ball. If he can stay healthy, and find a home on D, he could be main stay here for a long time. Happy to watch him come up.
The Cardinals have 3 infielders on the team now, they have 2, what looks like pretty good infielders in the minors and what do they do when they have the pitching staff they have, draft another infielder.
@@CharlieMarlowSTL I've read that. It just doesn't make sense to me. In my mind this drafting department, and especially Mo, has laid eggs for years now, so call me skeptical. I could see it if they plan on moving Gorman to third in a couple years, that is assuming he learns how to swing at strikes.
So what are the estimates of when he gets to the Cardinals main roster. Him being a college player and a high level one at that it wont take as long as a high school draft pick. I think he can be a September callup next year or an early '26 callup.
@@CharlieMarlowSTL He's a top ten pick, we're not used to drafting this high. 25 is a bit optimistic but not impossible but 26 for sure. It depends on how well he adapts to each level. But should be at AAA by end of next season.
The Cardinals have been great since I ascended up to see the grass at Sportsman's Park, to stare, all afternoon, at The man, who stood in the left field of that grass in the early spring of my life. I became a switch hitter for Imitating the hip cock, the line drive to left, all the doo dah day.
Today wed.7-10 Cardinals were double header swept by tha Royals and, I keep thinking how I see Goldy swinging and missing at pitches three foot outside in important situations..He didn't use to do that so, I hope they move him down in the order..Also please no F'n Eflin, lol
Gorman and Walker have the same problem. Management has tried to fix something that wasn’t broke. They want both guys to change their swing pattern and go for the fences. Better to quit messing with them. The homers will come with a lot less K’s. Homers are great but not at the expense of not putting the ball in play 3 out of every 5 times.
