These are the Cardinals I was hoping for ... just good enough to get to the trade deadline. Add some Pieces and get into the playoffs ... I never thought they will go far in the post season w out a legit number 2 starter, and still dont ... but before the season if you would of said 06/17, 2nd place and 6 games back. I would have said ... "ok. I hope so".
Wow close game today with a bad bad marlins team but win is a win above .500 they need to get this sweep and then take advantage of a struggling SF team and be 3-5 above .500 nearing end of June really start to separate from this insane wild card NL

I agree that Oli has done a better job this year, but I’m tired of the narrative that the fans are all dumbasses and make up reasons to dislike or criticize Oli. @@boschlosser10 Herrera is arguably the one of the most consistent bats on the roster right now… I definitely see his usage going way down once they are back but he would still be a nice pinch hit option off the bench
Really great podcast, hat tip to Bernie & Will. I’m with Will, the improved play doesn’t mitigate the wretched roster. I noticed the Dodgers are paying Kiki Hernandez $4M, and he can play middle infield or outfield, and his OPS is .703. Contrast that with Carp, who can’t play any defensive spots, is not contributing anything but I guess he’s fixed the clubhouse! #WTF
Assuming they don’t sign goldy for next year, contreras should transition to 1st/C/DH. Herrera could be the next DH. Burly might be the next 1B, they have more roster clog situations. Difficult decisions to make. Luken Baker’s future with the team seems to be over, they should package him this year. To the pitching side everyone was whining about SP last year when it really was the BP losing game after game. I’m excluding Waino’s performance because if they were in contention at any point he wouldn’t have been getting starts. The team had the most blown saves by the all star break and blown leads after the 6th. I’m glad Mo saw this issue and targeted BP right away starting at last year’s trade deadline. There needs be an offensive shakeup this trade deadline. In fantasy land they sign soto in the offseason lol

Cards would be in the playoffs today. No wonder baseball is fading. So beating up bad teams is functioning at a high level. Actually not even beating them up but winning by the skin of their teeth against some very poor pitching. NL Central is nothing but a joke.
