Hi! My name is Bonnie and I've been knitting on and off my entire life. On this channel I’ll be talking about all things knitting and bringing you along as I take the leap into garment knitting. New videos come out every other Monday!
This is such a fun idea, so many like minded people. I've been wanting to start a knitting channel but I'm so unsure, so this is very helpful. I think you would absolutely love Kutovakika if you don't already know of her 🫶🏻
Check out Kate at the Last Homely House, Arne and Carlos, Jaclyn Salem, Knitting Expat, Kate at Hawthorne Cottage Craft to name a few. Arne and Carlos are knitting all the time, but the others are busy also quilting, sewing etc. It started with VLOGMAS about 4 years ago (Jaclyn’s were fantastic) and the others were highly entertaining and wonderful. You will love them.
Suggestions: cotlin - washcloths. 100g - hats. 50g - hand warmers or headbands. 150g - 200g - hold with mohair and you can knit a vest. For mohair leftovers - if you crochet check out the moebius single crochet cowl from churchmouse yarns. I made several of these. It's the most basic crochet and goes super fast. If you are interested reach out and I will give you more details on the changes I made. Hope this helps with all your random skeins :)
I love WAK cotton! I'm making a very modified version of the tap cardigan now. I don't have their pattern. But can tell you how I'm knitting it if you're interested.
I feel like a lot of your fingering weight single skeins were colors that looked nice together and would be good for something in stripes or a scrap buster. All of your suggestions just seemed to consider them singly instead of using them in multiples. Even the colors you felt would wash you out may look great used as stripes with darker colors like your blues, greens and reds or in non-garment knits. I love the cubes your husband built. Your room will look so warm and inviting once you get it all done.❤🧶

Hi again Bonnie. Are you tired of me yet? 😂 It was so nice to hear you speak about your love of ballet 🩰 as well as your knitting. Oh, and on the Knitting For Olive yarns… just in case you didn’t know, they are actually light fingering verses a true fingering weight so that’s why you’re having trouble meeting gauge for that one sweater. KFO yarns will work great for the Cumulus Tee you have lined up. Anything with a 28 st gauge works best when using KFO yarn held single. HTH 😊
Also, can you tell me what shawl pattern you’re wearing in this episode? I’m not much for wearing shawls but I love to knit them, but the one you’re wearing is something I might actually wear.
Hi Bonnie. I’m starting from your first episode and binge watching you today. 😁 I live in SoCal in the desert and it’s so nice to find another CA knitter. I’m currently knitting on my Rib Tee by Knitting For Olive while enjoying your content. Thanks for joining the RU-vid knitting podcasting community. ❤
Hi Bonnie. I’ve just stumbled across your channel and so happy to have found you. I’m an obsessed knitting podcast watcher and excited to check out a few new ones to me that you’ve mentioned as well as add you to my subscriptions. I’m going to go check out your past videos and would love to invite you to check out my podcasts too. I’m a small knitwear designer and prolific knitter and love to share and chat with other knitters. Thanks again for this episode my friend. 🤗
I just found your channel because this particular video popped up on my feed as something I might want to watch, and You Tube was right. Thank you so much for this, I'm always thinking that there has to be a lot of good videos that I'm missing. I also want to throw in my 2 cents on favorites! If you are a sock knitter Crazy Sock Lady is a must. Since you like the two person format check out Knits n Pieces. They do a live every Tuesday night and they are fantastic. Such a fun time getting together with the community in the chat. And the last one but my absolute favorite is NE Knits. Amy will give a review on yarn, pattern and finished garment of everything she makes. She does great in depth analysis on all of these things and has helped me make decisions on all these things. Congratulations on your channel. Definitely will be subscribing!
This was a great list! I only watch 2 of these and now I have a bunch more to check out. Besides many mentioned in the comments some others I love are; A Friend to Knit With, LegacyKnitz podcast, Black sheep knitting, Summer Lee Design Co, and Stitching the High Notes.
That’s a good idea, especially because it was just a couple skeins that gave me trouble. It seemed like more of an anomaly than the norm, and really only frustrating because of how good I usually find Knit Picks quality.
I just found your channel and am happy I did. I am a crocheter, want to be knitter, here are some of my favorites: Little Drops of Wonderful, Sweet Skein of Mine, Cherry Heart, Noble Character Crafts and Yarnmugs. Thank you for all of the recommendations.
So glad RU-vids put you in my feed! I hadn’t heard of any of these podcasts except 2 of them! I’ve already checked out 2 of them and agree with everything you said about them! I feel the same way about some podcasters like I want to meet them so we can be friends IRL. They’d probably think that’s weird.
I've been eyeing so many of those patterns - especially the Kip the Lily Kate one. We have the same taste in colors too! Love my blues and greens and purples. Debating casting on the Cami Vneck you mentioned but only have wool and not sure I'd wear a sleeveless top in wool...but trying not to buy any yarn til December as my knitting pace has slowed down significantly. You've sold me on KFO cotton merino!
I saw some of your other episodes before this and thought to myself 'she must only film on wash days' - it always looks so good! I too have no patience for diffusing. I set a timer for 8 minutes and that's my limit.
Thanks so much for your recommendations - It’s lovely to have found your podcast! ❤My favorite podcast is Finnish KnittingStories - a very creative, lovely and authentic knitter, with a soft and bohemian style 😊
I wanted to share my favorite knitting podcast: The Meaningful Stitch. I stumbled on her during the pandemic when I was learning to loom knit. She's in Scotland and has the best color theory I've ever seen, plus she has a wonderful voice and laugh that I love to listen to. Hope you'll give her a look see❤ I would also suggest Arne & Carlos. They are not only hilarious and fun to watch but have an extensive designing background and a lovely home! Super fun!
Thanks for the suggestions. My favourites are The Knitty Stew, Fleece & Harmony, and Kat Knits. I have one as well called The Knotty Giraffe. I've enjoyed watching Mel Knits ever since she did that dress! I will have to check out your suggestions as there were 7 on there I'd never heard of before.
My first time watching your podcast and I really enjoyed it! I've not heard of 8 of the 11 you presented so now I am a very happy knitter. I do enjoy watching Knitting Traditions. She is Inge from Norway and is a beautiful knitter. At the very end of each episode she shows footage of the surrounding areas where she lives and it's so very gorgeous.
Working on my third Tolsta Tee (The Creabea) as I watch you. I rarely make any pattern more than once, but I have at least one more summer version that I want to make after I finish my current project. Very informative episode, I am looking forward to checking out some of your recommendations! 🙂
Yeah, the row gauge on it worries me a little but I think it will be so worth it for the finished object. I’ll probably cast it on the day it releases haha
You might consider sewing a back fabric on your gradient blanket. You could possibly find an amazing flannel that would coordinate with all the colors. Just an idea to avoid weaving in all those ends! ❤🧶
That’s actually a great idea. I’m close enough to finishing this blanket that I’ll probably just keep sewing in the ends at this point, but I really want to make another and like the idea of the backing for the next one. Thank you!
