I work in alternative health myself, and getting to hear about this individuals journey is sacred and I am appreciating his bravery and courage both in facing the unthinkable and in being willing to share with the public. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm sorry you've had to endure this disease and the pain that's involved. You are such a sweet and gentle soul. Please know that those of us who have been going through this experience with you (although not really making our presence known), are still with you. Dearest Aaron, I am a fellow Journeyer at a different stage of Life, facing different physical challenges and ailments in a body that has suddenly turned very fragile... just as my Neshama, I believe, has turned onto her True Essence. While we never met in this Lifetime, I met your amazing Mom (and life partner, Jack) and was thoroughly enchanted by her steadfast presence at your bedside, these past many months. I withheld telling her of my changed health circumstances, knowing that she needed to stay focused on you and her wellbeing. This all comes on the heels of my husband readying himself for retirement at 68 (to keep my health insured), before exiting the States for his motherland, to be reunited with Family in the Kootenay district. I hope to still make it to the gorgeous mountains surrounding you and your family home... I am after all, a "leaf-licker", as my brother-in-law is fond of calling me and hubby, Cal. Even there, I find some salutary reprieve... b-in-l, Den, is newly reading, Suzanne Simard's, at my recommendation. As a former firewood harvester and hauler (he just turned 65 and is suffering from sciatica!), he is getting WOKE to the harm caused to the biome of the forest floor; even while harvesting the felled trees left behind by the logging trucks. (This is supposedly the rant folk get from their regular haulers of cut firewood. Sorry gentle folks, not a sustainable energy source!). Anyways, a little folk wisdom from my limited travels to the BC backwoods, thus far, along with fond memories of picking wild morels in the cedar burns (summer of 2019). I do hope to make landfall on a small parcel we purchased during Lockdown, in the vicinity of Salmo. I have a lot of reservations about living so rurally, especially as my health has taken a new course. I also just gave up a 3week trip to Israel where I had hoped to travel to heal traumatic life events from when I was a child and we lived briefly on Kibbutz Misgav Am, during the early 1970's. More recently, I have been shadowing remotely the Israeli trauma training team who key-turns new Somatic Experiencing (SE) health practitioners to facilitate healing for fellow Israelis. While my professional (US) credentialing probably will not transfer in a timely way for me to practice in BC, I had hoped to at least join the local collegiate community known to me. I finished my certification training in 2019 on Vancouver Island, long before I knew we would some day make landfall on BC proper. I share all of this to say, that I too, Aaron, anticipate crossing over and meeting your beautiful Neshama... in some measured time. When... I don't know, I just sense there has been a quickening in my nervous system and body that has been preparing me, in recent months. As I look at your RU-vid postings, I am finding a resonance with resources beloved by me, too... so, I feel I have met yet another Spiritual brother along my Way. Just as another Spirited, soulmate bother and lover of the Whales... Shlomo Yoel (Baruch Dayan Emet). A fellow Sagittarius in my beloved Jewish Renewal community of P'nai Or, crossed over, yesterday in the wee hours of Rosh Chodesh Nissan. So, I am no stranger to these liminal times when they come calling, and in turn, have been getting my "affairs in order"... at a time when I should be getting my business taxes done and my application for Canadian residency submitted. Instead, I found myself foolishly packing for a 3week odyssey to Israel that I billed as a healing trip (haven't been since 2007 when my twins, now 27, were b'nei mitzvah age.). ...only to cancel last minute because my passport went missing (it never left my house!) and has yet to show. I call that a queer show of Divine Providence, or Jewishly, ... or, what I wrote a Master's thesis on, "G'eulah Atzmeit". Something that I have always found solace in ...from, Shirley Horn's rendition of, "Here's to Life"... just like I see in your resource column along with other personal faves. It's not quite 4pm PST... so, don't mean to fill the airwaves with extraneous details about my passage still unfolding... Rather, a moment in time, to bless you with a seamless crossing over... knowing that you will be in good company and need not fear, or as David Zeller (z"l), was fond of singing, "Kol ha'olam gesher tzar me'od, v'ha'ikar, haikar... lo l'fached kelal." Aaron, you are so easy to love which also makes your journey's end especially difficult to grieve, but you are worth it. Thank you for gifting us with the experience of you. What you've shared with us and the collective of human experience changed the world in ways I will forever be grateful for and inspired by. Your essence lives on in those who's lives you've touched-your cheeky clever humour, your sometimes superhuman yet inviting dignity and grace; your ability to hold the painful things in yourself and others with clear witnessing and wise compassion in order to heal from the source; your effortless divinity that helps us summon and see this in ourselves. You deserve this rest. As sorrowful as I am that this is the end of your beautiful chapter in our shared story, I am also glad that you feel ready for the time of well deserved rest. Aaron, I remember taking Thai massage classes with you at the UBC campus oh so many years ago. And then on our bike journey through Nelson, being welcomed into your fancy themed dress up party!
