When putting the cylinder onto the piston I use a piece of plywood with a slot cut in it for the piston to sit flat on and make a ring compressor out of either a strip of shim steel or thin sheet metal and a large hose clip. Once the rings go in you undo the hose clip and peel the sheet metal off. I do triumph and Norton twins this way for years.

Metal rescue is the same, the issue is with all the holes I couldn't keep it on the rust long enough to do anything. The acid works in seconds, so put my fingers over the holes flip the tank over and the acid got it done.
Thank you for making a very detailed video on troubleshooting issues with the generator not wanting to start. Cleaning out the small jet in the carburetor with a single wire brush bristle did the trick and got my generator back in working order!
It worked! Took it apart and cleaned out the jets, put everything back and added fresh fuel, not leaking fuel any more. Thanks so much for uploading this video!
@@xxempireyt An enricher half way pulled will dump more fuel in the carb body. It won't hurt the carb but it will be making it run richer. Just clean the pilot jet so you don't have to do that.
Hi! New to generators. Bought one after a week long power outage in Texas. After breaking in the new IPower2000, it's been sitting there for over 2 years now. Thought i had ran it dry before storage, so was kind of suprised to find some gas still left inside the bowel when checking the drain screw. Checked the oil and added some gas treatment along with fresh gas. Tried to spray a little fogging oil and starter fluid into the air intake area pass the air filter, but because the air intake was in the upper corner, really couldnt get the spray to go in directly because ive lost the straws on those cans. Wiped the filter box clean so wont accidentally start a fire and pulled the cord about 6 times. Didnt start, so went inside the house to look at videos to make sure i had turned all the dials to the correct positions, which i did. By the time i came back out, saw the generator was dripping gas along the side of the metal bowel and made a puddle beneath the generator. Quickly drained the gas. Not sure where the gas is coming out from. So now got to take this thing apart like you showed to see if the float pin is sitting correctly or gummed up. Want to double check before attempting to take this thing apart. Should i need new parts, such as a float pin or seat, or anything else carb related, could they be obtained from a lawn mower repair shop? What are some possible places to order parts if needed? Also, of all the bolts removed in this video, do any of them requiring torque to be put back? Thanks in advance!
Ok that was a long post, here is what You need to do. Take the bowl off. Clean the jet. Put fresh gas in it and fire it up. Enjoy! Respect the bolts tight, don't over tighten them and don't make them too loose. Don't be too concerned about torque specs on those.
@@MRD11011 Not supposed to buff when clear coating, unless you're talking about after the clear and that won't get rid of the blushing. I've done several, see my channel.
Wouldn't have helped the blushing, I'm painting at 35% humidity and polishing before clearing would have hindered adhesion. I guarantee my headlight restores for life when I use the automotive paint. I think the biggest issue with these was the paint can nozzle.
Or, close the petcock and idle it until the engine runs out of fuel after each use. The bowl will be left empty not allow fuel to oxidize and clog jets or the pilot circuit.
@@Devo1987 I'm not sure and the car isn't running now to check but there are a few factors, to feel the closest it will blow you need to be moving. Sitting in the driveway won't be as cold. Look for temps in the mid 40's.
Took apart my STIHL trimmer after it started to bog down. Didn't find anything mechanically wrong with it. Was about to take off carb and clean it when I ran across this video. Removed the screen and that was the problem. It was nearly 100% blocked. Thank you!!
yep. had same prob with my fs45. changed the carb thinking that was it. after watching your vid took mine off...... totally black and glogged. lucky i have a gas torch and just burnt it all off. thanks mate
Great video, thank you! Any recommendations on a product to flush gas lines? I'm trying to bring back this same generator from a 15 year storage with gas in it. I've drained the gas and done the basic maintenence items, but I'm sure the carb is caked in gum.
Just make sure all the ports are clear. Don't really need to soak it if you can get all the passages clear. I've cleaned tons by just pulling the pilot, drop the bowl, pull and clean the jets, blow cleaner through the ports and reassemble. Make sure the float needle and seat are clean as well.
Any advice on removing the petcock unit from the shut off valve shaft? Don’t want to break it and it’s a plastic to aluminum connection. Does it pull straight out or twist?

Mine only had/has the o ring and it seems like it wants to walk out of adjustment every now and then not a big deal just gotta adjust it after about 2-3 rides
