Much editorilazing in this book by this author. My review of the book, which cited discriminatoy language and inaccurate information, and the paucity of primary sources that support Tubman's role in the raid, was removed from Amazon and I have been banned from reviewing books on Amazon.Reply
Just found your excellent article in Smithsonian Apr-May 2024. I'd never heard of these young people who were so involved, brave, & committed to liberty for all. Very inspiring! 👍👍 Will get the book. Also downloading your RU-vid videos to listen to later.
To the commenter who is "a bit shook" that Dr. Kahrl is un-melanated, don't be. There are a lot of un-melanated scholars doing absolutely stellar work on the history of racial injustice in this country, and I salute them. Your "shook-ness" is a sign that you should broaden your reading horizon. If you aren't familiar with Mehrsa Baradaran, Eric Foner, Richard Rothstein, David Blight, then I suggest you make it a point to become so. Also, I hope that you - @nikital.8255 - will spread the word about Dr. Kahrl's book to your family, your friends, at Xmas gatherings and Thanks-Day and any and everywhere this information might be useful, which, I think, is everywhere. This was a fantastic talk!
Ohhh ok. iiiiii did not expect Kahrl to be unmelanated. I’m a bit shook. Glad to have an ally 🙌🏾 Hope he shares aLLL this info at his family gatherings, Xmas & Thankstaking dinner, etc.
Can someone send Thomas Sowell a copy,of this and a copy of Hillbilly Elegy..His so-called white, far right-wing funded research never acknowledged this type of data. Wonder why..
This was one of the best interviews. Skin & Bones has been escalated up on my TBR list. The pearls that were dropped concerning our children were priceless. I found a new favorite author. :-)
I believe Thomas Carney is a descent of Rebeca Carney an Irish indentured servant and a African slave named Thomas. She lived in Charles City, Virginia. Their son William had 16 children. The one son was named Thomas Carney.
He gave a talk when I was a first year law student (he had gone to the same school) and about to be drafted into the Army. thought back then that Brewster would become US President.
Thank you Vivian Fisher for your outstanding work and steadfast commitment to making the African American Department at the Enoch Pratt library in Baltimore not only top notch, but enviable and aspirational by other libraries throughout the US. ❤
Use the language of the times, this is crucial. As far back in his-story you go the African-Amerikkkan language is indeed "Indigenous Indian". Otherwise you also have attempted to remove the NIJII from Turtle Island/ New World/ America...
