he has opened the drain off , released all pressure from expansion vessel, then repressurised the expansion vessel to push out all existing water. if your pulling the boiler off you might aswell turn the PRV and release what you can. also in Worcester the green flap tab protector over the diver motor you can pull the motor out and lift and drop the diverter so you can drain the central heating side and the plate side so limit water spills.
Lifesaver mate! Quick question. I reset the boiler to just over 1 and 8 hours later it’s dropped halfway between 1 and 0.5 (so 0.75 approx). Obviously that’s a bad sign. Can I keep re-setting it every few days and what’s the issue? Thanks
Hi can you tell me can a gas engineer turn my gas off because of the failure of them not coming out for two failed appointments and when he capped my gas he put a do not use form through my door of which he sighed my signature at the bottom? There is,nothin wrong with the gas by the way its just bromford housing associations failure to turn up to two saftey check appointments please help
How do you know what size barrel to get I believe some one took door keys from front door luckily We have spare and locking it from inside stops anyone getting in now having to use back door leave key in front door Oh my days
had the boiler man out to fix mine yesterday, the black knob that you said should be closed and turned to right and off wasnt, it was open. Pressure has dropped again. do i top it up and close that knob?
I appreciate the video but surely it's the engineers job responsibility to not do things out his remit. If they're willing to come out and do work they're not qualified to do, surely they're going to lie about it anyway?
My question is : how is this even possible ? Surely the fail safe over heat protection (not controled by mcu) should be bi-metalic based switch in series with gas valve or something similar (I am not a plumber) .
If I’m right in thinking this, it’s a resistor based safety cut out (when testing we’re checking ohms resistance to check operation). Regardless apparently it was missed out at design phase, don’t ask me how or why.
Hi can you help I have the new part fitted and had pressure dropping ever since .the Plummer which fitted the part response can’t be possible get into contact with ideal.now waiting to hear from ideal which as been 4 days .would this new stat fitted cause the pressure to drop I understand it’s connected also to the pressure sencor thanks simon
Hi Simon, that is extremely strange as it’s not a pressure related part. When in operation does the pressure rocket to 3 bar? And what is your pressure set at?
Hi mate just to let you know I got evacuated out of my house on Friday night also all my neighbours around me very large I can only describe as explosions and flames going out the flue pipe I was glad it was still happening when fire brigade was there in case they thought I was exaggerating anyway gas board engineer told me that my boiler was the one in ten thousand that was recalled.
They have been contacting all registered boilers but it does happen where boilers have not been registered for what ever reason. Always better safe than sorry.
So my boiler is completely off . The heating was on when I went out and I’ve come home there is nothing . The screen is blank and it’s making no noise .
Hi Cherry. It sounds like a power issue. First check the fuse. If that is ok then get a local engineer (I cover Sheffield and Manchester) you may well need a new PCB
That allows you to switch from summer mode (hot water on) and winter mode (hot water and heating on) although you should have a thermostat. If you set that you’ll not need to swap that setting.
This video is great. But for some reason the boiler only has one black tap, the one that turns 90°, and now I dont know what to do. My last place didnt have this issue so the boiler was easy to sort out. I think there is a leak because the bar hasn't dropped below 1 yet, although it is close, and the water pressure has dropped so much
I qualified as a gas fitter back in the 1980's & we all used washing up liquid as a local test to see if pipework or fittings were sound along side using a gas manometer gauge .
I do remember my old man doing this. I even saw a gas engineer for a social housing company use a lighter on joints under a gas fire. How times have changed.
I had boiler fitted recently & they wanted to run 22mm pipe from the meter to the boiler instead of the existing 15mm , which would of meant a serious amount of work & upheaval & stupid cost all because of some daft legislation .. I fitted the boiler myself in the end & it works great @@boilerbreakdownexpert
Thank you for uploading this video my boiler has not been working the past week and its dead on winter, these easy and simple to follow instructions was a life saver Cheers👍.
I am so grateful to Gerry for posting this video. I am freezing in my son's flat, waiting 4hrs for someone to call, 1c outside (Scotland), the blanket I found not really helping. Suddenly thought, boiler pressure. Google, RU-vid and Gerry's video. SORTED 😊
Mines been losing pressure 3rd time in a year, went to top up today as it was completely empty 0.0 when i started to represure the boiler i noticed water started to leak out a pipe almost instantly and pressure will only hold for a few minutes. Then its empty again. The boiler is only 3 years old but the pipe work is from the 70s.
This is video about flueless gas fires? Why is it mostly a video of a bloke with a bald head. The words are OK but hardly informative. Is he a credited gas engineer ?
