@@angkoltazki I think it has an animation but it does not stop you from instablock again I think you might need a hack to input it consecutive frames though.. nothing in the game that needs you to do that though
This video is insanely good! I love to find these gems in the MH community! I’ve found success with the lance before, but you inspired me to try to master it! GJ on the video!
@@WeatherReport63 I traced over a pic of gigachad for the thumbnail hahahah It’s my Hunter as gigachad. I think I’m gonna keep the joke going for all my big budget videos lol I want to use more fire emblem music but I didn’t think FE engage fit the vibe this time
@@SANTIAGOCONS interesting. That’s a topic I could definitely talk about. The short answer is… in world iceborne it is about managing the monsters attention, and knowing where it will be based on their attack pattern. Iceborne lance does not move quickly, so you have know when to wait for the monster to come to you. I’ve heard ppl struggle with barioth and brachy, I’ll keep this topic in mind. I dunno if it will be an iceborne or wilds video.
I tried MHW when it lauched and the hyped failed so hard when I had to sheath and walk and manually aim each attack every single time. Not to speak of the gauges; It's overwhelming. And then there's the lance :v I poke They attack I block They die Repeat SO much fucking fun
Wilds lance video came out and I never touched the lance before but I just started playing world again and all I’m using is the lance, it’s so incredibly fun once you get that “boxer feeling”. Great vid, I’m a lancer now
First of all, I would like to thank you for encouraging me to continue with the lance. Monster Hunter World is my first and only Monster Hunter I have played. I bought it along with Iceborne during the PlayStation Store summer sale last month. I have about 86 hours of gameplay and I have completed the base game. I also started Iceborne and the next quest requires me to hunt the Barioth. This is all new to me, but I have to say I was having a blast until I noticed a considerable increase in difficulty. I have only ever used the lance since the beginning of the game, but now I am starting to feel frustrated when every time I try to complete a side quest, where I have to hunt even the weakest monsters of the base game, it still takes me about 30/35 minutes. I currently have a Hunter Rank 32 (Master Rank 6) and I use the Chromo Drill I. Could the fact that I have never mastered the counters be the cause of my ineffectiveness in battle? Taking more than half an hour to kill even a Pukei Pukei has become tiring for me. Especially because I have a good defense and I don't lose lives. It just becomes a battle of patience where I chase the monster, defend myself and land a few attacks. However, I do too little damage despite all the attack buffs. Maybe the difference is all in the counters and positioning. I've never felt this boxer feeling. I've always been used to playing as a tank, but I'm a newbie. I don't have friends to play with online, and I do everything by myself offline. I hope the MH community can give me some advice because at the moment I feel a bit lost.
I was like you too! I didn’t have PSN so I only played solo, I took 20+ min for any monster, and I always timed out for certain monsters. As a veteran lancer my advice is… take a break! Watch some videos, have some lunch with your mom… then when you pick up the game again… even try a new weapon. As a beginner I did not ram my lance against every monster. I’d say my first play through was lance+sword and shield. Watch some videos, check your build etc. This might open your eyes to other mechanics in the game you might have been ignoring by using guard all the time. You are saying your hunts are taking a long time no matter how much attack you are building, you are building wrong! What kills the most time as a lance is missing a counter, then sheathing to heal, healing slowly with a mega potion, then unsheathing again. For a player like this, you do not need attack boost. You need health boost 3, guard 5, anything to keep you in the monsters face stabbing away. Finally…you said you’re always used to playing tank. Lance is not a tank! Your mentality should be the same as any other weapon: hit the monster any moment you can. With a greatsword this moment will be short, with a lance this moment will be very long. If you want to get better at lance try this: hunt great jagras without holding block. You are only allowed to use guard counter, power guard, and guard dash to protect yourself. You are not allowed to block “dry”. Then hunt pukei, then barroth etc. However my biggest tip is still to take a break! This could mean step away from the controller, or focus on another weapon. Maybe you will return to lance later and feel completely different. Thanks for watching!
@@jyugwat2952 Thanks so much for the advice. I just defeated the Barioth after 45 minutes of hunting. I'm exhausted. At least I have the Chromo Drill II now but I think I'll practice counters with something easier.
Man i love using lance cz i feel good when facing in front of big monster I love to be tank at anygame this is why i love lance at MHW Need time to master it and ur video help me a lot Nice video
i played the lance for like... four months, now. nevere seen the vid before. And you're telling me that i can dash guard and leap thrust consecutively? I can black flash just like that?
I remember beating rathalos with lance on MH 1, and never use it again cause awesome LS combo on next gen lol. Thanks for the guide this inspire me to pickup lance again on Iceborne.
Been trying to get into World from the context of Souls games, and the idea of the Lance being the weapon that 'boxes' by switching between offense and defense really lines up with the play style I'm familiar with :D Going to give it a shot :D
Yes! Lance is great for solo play because the monster attention is always on you. I also love the sword and shield! If you’re coming from souls you might like the hammer or greatsword too! Thanks for watching!
You’re sharp! This instance was an from the hop. I still recommend guard dash backwards for this attack, because the further away from rajang’s body you are the less chip damage will hit your shield. I’ve seen speed runners respond quick enough to get out of range. Nice catch!
This really is the ultimate guide. I do appreciate the in depth explanation for each core mechanic and how to optimize them during play. One question I have with guard counter and power guard counter. When you assume those stances, do you have to do the additional input of circle to retaliate or is it automatically done when an attack connects? I’m just at work right now so I can’t test for myself.
This video inspired me to replay Iceborne solo while waiting for Wilds, I never get a chance to solo since my bro always drag me to play duo with him 4 years ago. Now I defeated Raging boi, sth I never thought I could do. Still need to work on positioning but my appreciation for this weapon is at its peaks 🌷
I am coming from world and I just started Rise. Killed Magnamalo like an hour ago. Tried Lance for a first few hunts and decided to go Greatsword instead. I...don't like the lance in Rise. I do feel that MHWIB got Lance perfect. It doesn't have a lot of dps by itself. YOU have to know how to make it work for you. You stood your ground and countered the attacks the monster did, making openings for yourself. Also, countering felt so goddamn good, especially when Offensive Guard procced. That ringing impact sound made it feel oh so good. Lance in Rise feels....confused. It wants to be a high damage weapon, a utility weapon AND a defensive weapon. Like...I get where you're coming from but what the hell ARE you bro? Where as in World, the answer to this is simple. A relatively low dps, defensive but AGGRESSIVE weapon with decent utility.
I started with Rise and quickly grew fond of the lance before going back to world. Most of this stuff I already knew, but I found some cool tricks I want to try the next time I hunt in the new world
I am a lance main in iceborne and I'm still learning something new. that clutch claw guard dash back hop to reposition is so big. actually all the clutch claw cancels are big. everything about the lance I've picked up through intuition because honestly yeah its a simple weapon so you can get extra creative with how to play it. cant wait to hop back in
thank you. I cannot for the life of me understand guides ever. (It's me, not you) Since I really only learn from doing but I feel like I gained a lot of information from this video. Maybe lance has been my true calling. I will use it for some time. My only critique would maybe be helping in the build department. I'm not good at building so I would like some more mid-level guidance in building
I’m glad you gained something from my video. I always try to be concise because I do not record my voice, and I thought the other RU-vid lancers had some great build guides already. I can’t give you a full build progression, it’s been a couple years since I’ve started from zero haha. In short, lance requires guard skills and sharpness skills to function. Upgrade your ironside charm whenever you can, and it should cover all the guard you need. I like the odogaron set mid game for sharpness, and teostra armour for later. If you cover those 2 things you can’t really go wrong. And build health up 3. Good luck!
I hope you were able to gain something from the video! I spent as little time as I could on the build because the focus this time was on mastery and gameplay. The main point is that lance must build sharpness skills and guard skills to function. Whatever you can afford at your point in the game, these 2 things must be considered for lance to be playable. Good luck!
Semi new hunter at master rank. Primarily SnS main but I tried lance and loved being able to just break parts over and over again. Now here I am wanting to get my mastery up on the lance. Excellent guide!
I feel like people are unfair to the terms "support" and "tank." Final Fantasy 14 taught me that every class is dps, and Monster Hunter is no different, because the support and tank weapons are often more powerful than the dps weapons like longsword and dual blades, with the added bonus of hunting horn buffing your team and lance being able to protect teammates directly behind it from certain attacks
Just start playing mhw and start off with lance any suggestion on progression build? I don't know what lance to use and what armor set to craft playing solo is so hard on master rank🥲
You will have to look through what armour is available for you in your forge. In general you can follow any sharpness armour build on the internet ex. Anything with high def. -> odogaron-> teostra armour. For Lances, i think it’s kulu or pukei, then whichever lance has good sharpness with good raw damage. Health boost 3 is MANDATORY!! Do not leave camp without it. If you are still having trouble with lance, build as much guard as you can from armour and charms and jewels. After that sharpness. Sharpening and healing is usually what gets you killed on lance.
The way you describe lance just like a boxer is very helpful for my understanding of the weapon. It's not that i haven't put a lot of effort playing it, but more as i'm not connected to concep of lance yet. Thanks a lot!
Great video! Recently pick up the lance and this was an extremelly practical video, would mind telling me whats your layered armor? Your hunter looks amazing
Dragon king eye patch (high rank nergigante) Fellshroud Vaal hazak top (deep blue green colour) Gold rathian gloves (i now prefer azure starlord arms here from the event quest) Azure era waist (event quest) Oolong pants (lunar new year event) Guild palace lance 11:58 charge blade outfit I switched the shirt for gold rathian 11:15 great sword outfit I switched the shirt for guild palace My secret is the hair is a mod called Elise hair ;) Thanks for noticing!
I usually see the speedrun lance people do the charging attack then slap, but this is a breath of fresh air to me- it almost reminds me of the classic and simple style of mainly doing counter thrust then poke, the triple poke, and etc. It isn't as flashy as the playthroughs of others. I like this!
Some grabs are blockable with guard up. For example rajang grab. Lance killers ignore block up. Velkhana ice barf is a lance killer that is not a grab. so they are not always grabs, and grabs are not always lance killers. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
