I know this is your old setup but i run same turbo but s363sxe what valve springs and cam specs did you run? Also was the head ported at this point? Cheers
Hi mate, unsure on the valvespring specs. I bought this motor off a mate as it already had the head rebuilt. But i put in some hks drop in cams 256 in 8.8mm lift and 264 ex 9.0mm lift.
this car is beautiful and sounds amazing. I'm just wondering why you aren't running a cam gear cover? it would protect the timing belt from from extra heat and rocks etc??. ill soon be uploading videos on my GTS25T soon, in the mean time keep uploading haha.
I just liked the look of not having it. In terms of heat and rocks, this car is driven very regularly on the street, and will soon be back at events, and havent had any issues. In terms of heat, with anything at this level, regular maintenance and checks is a must. Even with a cover, id have to be removing it regularly to verify components are ok and happy.
Havent had a chance to try 4th yet, but currently the 295 proxee r888s cant handle 1st, 2nd or 3rd... so, she will need more tire before I throw more power at it
Nah no rotational idle, havent run that for a very long time, always had low speed drivability issues due to my dodgy tps. This is Just the big cams. However, to get the rotor like idle we cycle ignition timing aggressivley at idle, but thats just because I like the brap. It is still lumpy without it.
Hi mate, cheers. Those are 18 x 9.75 +22, with 265/35s. Now, we are testing a set of 19s (dont know the specs) they suit a fg, and we have managed to squeeze a 295 proxee r888 in there.
Hey bro was just wondering are you still running completely standard gearbox ? My r33 gtst is a few weeks away from being back on the dyno and on 98 should make over 600 to the wheels should make closer to 750-800 to the wheels with bigger cams and e85 but being a built 3 litre it’ll be quite a bit more torque-y than the rb25 I’m concerned im going to break the gearbox. PPG has a helical gearset I’m eyeing off but if yours is a standard box and you’re making 780hp and using radial tyres I might not worry about getting the box built that’s the top end of what I hope to make in mine
Hi bud, currently the car has a speedtek gearset in it. But was poorly assembled, so, although its lasting for now on street duties, im really not sure how itll go at even one event (part of the reason I havent raced the car for a while). The powercruise video was a standard box, but hurt the input shaft after that one event. This motor, and especially your motor being a 3L with the extra torque will really hurt these boxes at over 700. Previously at the lower end of 700, my mate and I could get a standard box to last about a year at multiple events before running into issues (again, very dependant how you drive) if you do burnouts, big clutch dumps, shift real hard. They wont last. Depending where you live a gearset is a good option.
@@sp33d_boatahhhh crap that’s exactly what I was hoping not to hear hahaha kinda knew it was coming anyway I figured by the time I replace 3 standard boxes I could’ve got a ppg or os-giken helical gearset installed I heard they’re pretty sturdy units if you want to stay h-pattern/not pay 20 grand for a sequential 🤣 I used to be keen as for when I finally got to line you up on a track we had almost identical setups when you dropped your first power cruise video but these days I’m going to have to turn the wick up pretty hard or I’m going to get munched your car is a monster dude 🤣
Hey mate do you just have a standard gtst box or have you got a bullet gear set in it? I saw speed tek have one but it’s a close gear ratio and I feel I have enough traction issues as it is next cheapest option I’ve seen was the ppg billet set and that’s 7-8k transmission such an expensive upgrade no matter which way you go really
Hi mate, I have the speedtek gearset in it. Now actually, the ratios in the speedtek box are longer than that of a standard box. Its just they are stacked closer. So my first goes to 80, 2md to almost 140 (depending how hard i rev it) 3rd 180, then 4th is normal. So the gearset has actually assisted in getting the car to put power down. However, and this is the big one. Unless you live near speedtek, or have them assemble your box, i wouldnt go near them. No customer support to those outside of their control and ive had nothing but issues with my gearset since its gone in due to incorrect installation. Also some of the big workshops where I live wont touch their stuff, because they dont freely give out the required clearances for installation (which are tight and easy to get wrong, thus my box). You are correct, any transmission is going to be expensive, all up, one parts were bought, fitted and i got the box in the car it cost me 9k. So what was meant to be a cheap interim, turned into a money pit and me regretting doing it and wishing i had just gone the auto route
Now that its been a bit, how do you feel about it? Trying to decide and i cant find any videos of people actually driving other than this. Everyones just installing.
If you're in Perth, im more than happy to show it to you in person. If not, look really depends why you're buying it. Do you have the spare $800 just lying around, then absolutely go for it. Its more a nice to have, and I love it, i really do. Its significantly better than my mates ebay short shifter. It drives great, it feels awesome. However 0 physical performance benefits. Il shift a stock shifter just as fast. I also got rid of the lock out feature. Its fine if its a race only car. But on the street that feature is a pig snd your thumb will hate you. The other thing it needs is a very thin cork gasket, otherwise like mine, in summer when the gearbox temps really get up there and the ambient is high, the shifter gets quite warm to hold onto.
The borgwarner on a 0.91 housing maxed out at 780 whp, but there is too much head for the turbo so suffers from a lot of back pressure. And it drives great, its gutless below 2000, a bit meh to 3000, but after 3000 it really wakes up. Gets used on the street all the time, makes plenty of torque for cruising around. Especially on this smaller turbo.
Hi mate, was using 275 17inch nangkang ar1s in this vid. They were ok, but took a lot of heat to actually work, and even then it only hooked with a huge vac leak (didnt know at the time, and robbed me of a good 40-80hp across the rev range) and a car full of people to actually hook. There is the 15' route i want to try, works a treat on my brothers falcon, but id also really like to try some 18' or 17' raiden hero drag radials on it for a roll racing event
Very nice setup, however sometimes just sometimes I miss the supercharger, good to see someone pushing a 335, very very underrated and beautiful cars !!
Yeah it will do. Will likely go a pulsar g45, but first gotta get my evo running before spending more money on this. As I had issues with the speedtek gearset, so its just been sitting and needs a gearbox. As for why didnt i go rb30. Many reasons, firstly, everyone does it. Every r33 in perth making north of 600 wheel is rb30 based, so my mate and I wanted to have two of the fastest r33 gtsts still using the 25 blocks. His is more pure as its all 25 gear, where mines more a 26 now than it is a 25. That was the main reason. The second was money and trying to find all the parts. I just wanted to get the car going and cbf trying to look around for all the parts needed to convert over to a 30.
@@sp33d_boat A G45, that'll be interesting! Haha, haven't seen the evo but it's expensive af to run even 1 car these days. I haven't done a 30 either, have an option for 1 at the moment though which might consider as they're getting hard to come by, have to change diff ratio, mod pipes & probably a new clutch, 30s are harder on the box too, would need a new cert, so all money as you say. Hard to look past the pulsars at the moment, be good to see what a g45 does.
This is my mates. But just a rb25 with rods, pistons, stock head with valve springs and tomei drop in poncams. Plazmaman intake, 6boost low mount manifold, gt3582r turbo, and i think this was when he had a straight 4" exhaust no muffler
These were just stock cams with rotational idle through the ecu. The car now runs gsc R1 276 deg cams with a much more aggressive idle (without using rotational idle)
