Hey! This is Under10Hours, a gaming channel that celebrates forgotten gems (and some duds) from the early-to-mid 2000s.
I have been a gamer since opening my jungle-green Nintendo 64 on Christmas morning in 1999. Since then, I have never stopped playing games and forming opinions on what makes games worth playing and, more importantly, fun. I started making videos because I wanted people to remember what made the early 2000s one of the weirdest, yet most interesting times to be a gamer. It was right after video games made the initial jump to 3D when the Playstation 2 and Xbox made their way onto the market, and the world was introduced to Master Chief. But for every Halo, there is a Thrillville waiting to be ripped apart in the name of commentary and humor.
Come along for this ride as I dig deep into gaming's past and find some truly interesting games no one remembers.
I have my entire steam collection, several defunct MMOs, several non-defunct MMOs, PC games from the 90's and gigabytes of *legally torrented Linux ISOs* on my steamdeck, and I still can't find anything to play.
I'm obsessed with my Deck. I originally bought the 64GB LCD model, swapped the screen for an HD model, and bumped the storage to 2TBs. I emulate everything, remote into my PS4 from anywhere, play almost anything on Steam. I use my Deck every day.
I love the deck. It became my favorite system fast because of how versalitle it is in ways to use it, and the sheer amount of games to play via emulation on natively. Having access to mods and steam sales as well is just icing on the cake. I even played HD texture pack Wii games with actual Wii remote thanks to a USB adapter lol
I LOVE SSX 3 but I love On Tour too. But I never got into playing Tricky because it killed my PS2 (Just blew up after a long time playing 3 and changing to tricky and never came back to life XD). 3 and On Tour are my childhood memories. I maybe dig into Tricky too.
I started gaming on the NES. My parents bought me a super Nintendo, but the GameCube was the console I bought. Dark summit was the first game I found myself engrossed with. Nestolgia is powerful. I found your video because I am now 36 years old and I was trying to connect with my past. Is the best game ever? No. Will it always hold a place in my heart... You bet.
Don't get it why people say Linus is better I had steamdeck 4 times And steamdeck oLED 6 times because trying to love it I tend to trade or sell it then tried bazzite on rog ally X it's so stupid everyday you need to update the games eats up memory unlike on windows it's install and play
Been thinking about making my own video talking about a future for this franchise. I have footage for the first game and some footage from the first stageof this game, but, if I credit you, would I be able to use any of your footage? It would likely only be a fraction if I go through with the video, but thought I would askto be safe ^^
@Under10Hours Excellent!! Hideki Kamiya has gone on record lot in recent years over how much he wants to return to the franchise to finish the story with VJ3. With him saying that again this year after his exit from Platinum and the ongoing buzz with Capcom reviving old franchises and TGS 2024, I've been doing all I can to spread awareness and bring excitement to the series! ^^
I agree with a lot of what you said but i do think it deserves some passes for the time period it was released on top of having to scrap the original version of it. I do think theres something magical about this that you couldn't really find anywhere else un uptil say Fable. The shit jokes get so tiring apart from the great mighty poo but i will say media around that time especially comedy movies heavily relied on fart humor. Gameplay mechanics are extremely hellish at certain points of the game which is why i almost prefer to emulate it for save states. Also definitely one of the best looking games on the n64 since it was released at the end of its life span. One thing i was suprised you didnt mention was the music, i think its exceptional and memorable as any game with a new ip should be. All in all i think conker is a game that anybody growing up with the n64 should play, it really can be rough around the edges at times, but there is simply nothing else like it and you can tell a lot of love was poured into it. I think its game youre supposed to sit around with your buddies drinking beer which i did last week with a friend who had never played it and the reactions were priceless. Also that ending, while emotionally undeserved, has always stuck with me.
When I was younger and playing this game I was amazed by that time jump.. Driver did it perfectly by aging EVERYTHING around it and I never seen anything like that before and the story was exactly like an 80’s revenge movie. Was it perfect.. no but it tried its hardest for a PS2 era game.
I sold my gaming tower and bought the steamdeck in preparation to go for an extended stay in Japan. Such a powerhouse of a tool. It's not my first experience with linux but it's the linux pc i have used the most now and i use it in desktop mode maybe even more than handheld. I love just how little power it sips for me to play all my older games maxed out.
with how things have been going with the 9th gen of consoles. and with my ps5 just sitting there collecting dust, i want to move away from it all but cant quite afford a proper pc. the steamdeck seems like my best option.
I recently used distrobox - Ubuntu on my ROG Ally with Bazzite. I just SSH'ed into it and installed a Minecraft server. After a few minutes I could play Minecraft using my handheld as a server when it is docked.
I just moved abroad to study and didn't bring with me my PS5 or PC. I've missed gaming so much that I decided to purchase a Steam Deck OLED. Currently waiting for it to be shipped and I'm really excited! The fact that I can't buy the Steam Deck back home makes it even easier to justify the purchase since I can actually buy it abroad.
Wow this is one of those rare videos that someone actually understands the REAL details and benefits of SteamDeck /Linux... I had to thumbs up this video and favorite it Keep doing what you're doing and never give up!
I highly recommend the games enlisted and Chivalry 2 And Deep Rock Galactic on steam deck and many others. Emulation is so badass on it too it's literally my dream gaming handheld
My 2012 PC is showing its age, even with a SSD and 1060. Before I save enough for a new machine that will last +10 years, the Steam Deck will be a stepping stone. Win10 has become increasingly annoying with MS begging to use all their services all the time. I only need VLC/Foobar, Firefox, Discord - maybe light photo editing with GIMP or Krita. Other channels showed that my +400 gog games will work. Another proved that external DVD drives will work for music and movies.
@@Under10Hours Whatever 1440p60/120fps will cost. And the state of Windows by the time. Lotta things can happen in just 5 years. I intent to run the Steam Deck at least that long, got a Xbox SX for the AAA games I care about. Indi and „AA“ should run decent even at this point.
I hope that as time goes on, these handhelds will get smaller and smaller until they get to that size. The Steam Deck can definitely be just out of range of "throw it in a bag and forget it" because it's so large.
Thank you! I dual boot Windows and Bazzite so I have the option the play online with friends. I'm hoping Steam eventually releases SteamOS as an installable image so I can put it on there instead. It's supposed to be coming, but it's been a long time since there was even remotely an update of that happening.

I was able to emulate Windows 98 SE using PCem and play some of my childhood games I haven't laid eyes on since I was 6 years old (I'm 36 now lol). Hell, I was even able to play a game that I remember playing in the first grade computer lab called Treasure Mathstorm lol. This thing is nuts.
Good for him. Both my kids have Linux on their PC's. I don't let them play shitty games with kernel level anti-cheat, microtransactions, gambling/gotcha....
I’m in the ROG camp just because I like being able to swap things easily from my desktop. Emulation is something I’m just starting to get with since I sold my original retro gaming collection years ago. Replacing what I sold would likely cost me thousands more than I originally got everything for (RIP my Nomad and Jaguar), but emulation is the perfect replacement so long as I don’t overload myself with games to play.
