One of the most fun super hero games I’ve played. Maybe that’s not what some people wanted out of Saints Row game but they committed to it so I respect it.
…and I’m really happy with this game, because I’ve played it for the first time tonight, and discovered you can have both the cheats “Insane City” and “No Superpowers” activated, making this feel like a true alien invasion end of the world movie. The No Glitch FX cheat makes it way more realistic, too. As a huge fan of end of the world movies, this is MY ULTIMATE VIDEO GAME DREAM COME TRUE. NO MODS NEEDED. ❤️❤️❤️👽🛸💥💥💥 Why do I feel like this game is underrated now? The cheat selection for this game is absolute FIRE, literally! 🤩❤️ I’m playing it on the Nintendo Switch and got it for about $11.00. I’m glad I gave this game a shot, despite what some people were saying about it. ☺️ I was honestly scared to, and now somehow I like this game MORE than the third one! Who knew that would happen?
I have a lot of nostalgia for Saints Row 4 because it was the first M-rated game I ever played (I grew up in a household that didn't let me play M-rated games till I turned 17), but replaying the game recently, I still think it's insane fun. Did it jump the shark? Yes, but I commend Volition for going "F*ck it" and creating the most bats*it superhero game ever made. I understand why some SR fans hate it, but personally, I love it.
I truly believe that Saints Row IV needs to be the blueprint for every superhero game going forward. It's a total power trip where you're stronger, faster, and more prepared than any other person around. What superhero game isn't trying to be that?
@@Under10Hours Arkham knight, spiderman games, infamous, prototype are great examples of hero games done right they need to come out with an open world punisher game or moon knight
It took me a couple of tries to get into this one. I kept getting lost around the time early on when you have a lot of side missions and no main ones to do. Later on after completing 3 for the first time ever, I came back to try it again, and I loved every minute. The story is kinda pasted together sure, but I love the callbacks, movie references, and admittedly stupid ending credit scene. The whole game is like a B movie showing your favorite characters way out of their element and just having fun. I see IV more as a cast member afterparty to the series than a true finale and I’m okay with it. Lots of “remember when?” moments and just sheer mayhem in between. They took the over the top nature that SR was known for and just pushed it as far as humanly possible as a last hoorah and I love it for that. I know they aren’t necessary but using the vehicles as much as you can and tying them in with the superpowers makes for the best experience. It just feels a little unnatural at first to force yourself to use less efficient methods of transport. While SR2 and 3 have the most nostalgia for me, IV is just something special, even if it’s an acquired taste. Love your reviews and can’t wait to see what you think of the reboot
I definitely feel like I enjoyed it a lot more the second time around. I played it when it first came out and then didn't really touch Gat Out of Hell because how mixed I was on IV. But this time I think it clicked because I knew what it was. I think I appreciated it for what it was in spite of the fact that I was disappointed by the story. The references to earlier in the series did work for me because I'd played them, the homages to other media was fun, and overall it's just a turn your brain off kind of game. I spent a couple of hours just cruising around the city and getting clusters because navigating is so fun. Thanks for watching the videos! I am picking up the reboot day one and I am cautiously optimistic about it. I've liked what I've seen so fingers crossed!
SR is one of the few games that just doesn't take itself seriously. Instead of mediocre story and gameplay is gives us comic relief story with over the top gameplay, AND just goes "dafuq is balance" and gives you anything stupid you might want. The game is a blessing.
Never played these Saints Rows games before, but I am now highly interested and just ordered all four of them in anticipation for the new one coming out.
@@ineedandrenaline Im giving them all a try because Im definitely open to each installment despite the bat shit insane footage im seeing from parts 3 and 4. But who knows, I might actually like it.
@@KobatheASMRbiker Hell yea! do it man, the first 2 are for the story, the last 2 are for the insanity. the new 5th, is for hopefully a combo of the four games? Great story and gameplay elements?. Only time will tell. 6 days until release :D Edit: I also wish you the best luck getting SR1 & SR2 To run properly on windows 10/11. Volition Really neglected them after the new games came out. Co-op still works on 3 and 4 though. Edit2: Actually i found a work-around patch tutorial to fix SR2 Co-op and Multiplayer. Now me and my GF are going to play it together! I watched a tut by Kes Gaming. i used the Steam D3D9 patch to make it work. its open source and everything :D
I fucking love this game I understand how over the top it is and how it strays so far from the serious games but it is so much fun. It is just a blast and so funny playing this overtop parody game.
I wish Shaundi and Gats homie banter was a cutscene. IT's a really heartfelt yet small convo but you completely miss it if you don't call them to the simulation together.
2bad you didnt mention loyalty missions. I realy liked them and I think they were actually very good, well, most of them. Some great interactions between characters. Yes, superpowers > cars when it comes to tranportation but it didnt stop me from collectiong and tuning all the stock cars in the game. I like to call the crew and just drive in the cars from activity to activity. When you summon a car, your crew gets automatically teleported inside. That's a good way to group up with npcs.
Ah, it's my personal Matrix simulator. I always put on the "Neo" look at the shop and have a blast. I'm just glad this was my first saints row because after going back and playing the older games I can see why the fanbase was disappointed with the directions the story took.
I decided way too last minute to cover all the games because I wanted to play the reboot for the channel! I'm cautiously optimistic. The original reveal had me supremely disappointed, but everything since has brought me back! I expect it to be a lot like Saints Row The Third, but hopefully with some better story beats.
New sub here. I've been enjoying ya Saints Row content. I borrowed Saints Row 4 from a friend, some years back and didn't finish it. I didn't even bother with Gat out of Hell. I simply tolerate The Third for its improvement to the gunplay and driving. 9:32 That's the same way I felt about IV referencing 1 & 2. I remember Angry Joe said this game "felt sorta like a love letter to the franchise with many throwbacks to its story history", but I took it as a slap. I don't even care about the Shaundi stuff. I still find her change of personality annoying.
I am trying so so hard to get through it. I don't throw around "unplayable" very often, but I have had to reset the game during each of my sessions at least once and more often than not 2-3 times. It's worth avoiding for that alone.
Hold up if gat was alive the whole time who the fuck is the zombie gat what was in the hearse in sr3 in the cutscene where killbanes blows up the bridge
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE EVIDENCE THAT GAT IS DEAD. HE ISN'T, WE PROMISE! I remember theories between 3 and IV because of zombie Gat. So many people were like "he's not dead!" and others were insistent that he was because we got him as a zombie homie like we did Lin and Carlos. Definitely a lot of stuff needed to be ignored about 3 to bring him back. But my headcanon about 3 was that the hearse was just holding a coffin with trinkets and photos that reminded the Saints of him instead of him. There was no way they recovered his remains from the wreckage of a plane crash, imo.
One of the only games that I actually have 100% multiple times Lol. Never even did that with SR2 which I far prefer. But this one is one of the most fun games I have ever played. Also the story might suck but damn is Zinyak such good villain. Easily my favourite Antagonist in the entire series and the only one that was actually a legit threat to the Boss.
I played this for the first time this week along with Gat Out of Hell after finally playing SR3 prior to it. I hated SR4 when I first started playing it but by the end I absolutely loved it. The writing, the parodies, the ridiculousness of it all, and it even had me laughing out loud at some parts. It may seem insane but the writing and references were really smart and it was a cohesive story while being absolutely shit house crazy on top of it. I actually enjoyed the reboot. It was fun for what it was. But going back and playing the older entries I can see why fans of the series were disappointed. It is nowhere near the quality. And I still haven’t got to SR2 yet.
Yea I ALWAYS use the money cheats when playing these games so the inferior weapons were never a problem for me. Just gimme upgraded guns already and lemme have fun instead of wasting my time.
I… don’t know if I like Saints Row 4, on one hand, I liked parts of it, the opening that references Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, where you plant a charge on a wall and slow mo kill everyone in the room like it’s a level out of Modern Warfare 2, I loved that. That part in the last mission, when you get the power armor, and The Touch by Stan Bush starts playing made me smile from ear to ear. One the other hand, I hate the super powers, they make the cars and other vehicles completely useless and after the opening, the story has very little structure, I had to force myself to finish it. All in all, I still love the original Saints Row, I have a ton of nostalgia for it, and just want the reboot to go back to it’s root, a bunch of plucky, no name people trying to get to the top…
It's definitely ok to be mixed about SRIV. I kind of accept it for what it is, superpowers and all. But it's completely removed from what makes Saints Row a Saints Row game for me. It was both incredibly fun and massively disappointing.
@@Under10Hours I just want to get back to basics, here’s a big open city, here’s three gangs, take them out in any order you want, after that, the person pulling strings from the shadows shows up, once you take them down, the city’s finally yours…
I still adore this game for how balls to the wall crazy it is, the excellent needle drops, but yea, the story felt like they were running out of time, which they probably were (wasn't this when THQ basically ceased to exist?) Cause like you barely get super powered Kenzie and then the ending happens, even if you wanted to you never really got to fool around with her, a lot of the characters from 3 just had a bridge dropped on them. Also it's glitchier than previous games... like I never mess with homies even super powered ones cause if I sprint anywhere they get lost, and mind over murder just feels like it needed a few more passes I've never managed gold.
Yeah this was definitely around the time THQ went away. I have to wonder what a few more months of polish would have done for the overall game's quality, but what we got is still overall pretty good with a few big misses.
@@Under10Hours Agreed, but for what we got I consider it fantastic, albeit a little hampered, never played anything after this, and I got for $3 on sale around xmas so more than got my money's worth
This was the worst saints row for me. Currently completing saints row 2 before 5 is released. I can't put myself through playing 3 and especially 4 again!
You can change your voice though so the British accent is irrelevant when coming to president. Also you need to be born in the US. While very rare you could be born in US and still have a foreign accent.
