The mission of the National Soil Dynamics Lab, located in Auburn, Alabama, is to develop tools, practices, and products to better manage soil for sustainable and profitable agricultural production.
The NSDL studies agricultural issues in three major areas -- conservation systems, global change, and waste management.
I wonder if the blade was slightly heated up if it would actually work better for small scale walk behind. Then you could slightly wet the crop and get a bit of a steam on the crop.
V1 is all I’ve ever been able to pull off with acceptable loses. Those rigs with the small rolling mechanisms don’t work for me. The big drums pull faster and just work better
I have the same question 2yrs after yours.several yrs ago I went to a seminar about no till and cover crops, and when I asked about where to get no till planters,U was given the deer in the headlights look ...and this was at an ag college
@@jimmydykes7961 It realy depends on where you life and what kind of dealer you have near by. Otherwise you have to build it on your own from scrap/used parts.
Looks to work like a charm! Any more info on what kind of row cleaners you're using there? I haven't had much success with the usual disc style ones, those look somewhat different? Have you found the method of terminating the cover crop (crimping vs mowing) to make much of a difference? I'm considering a flail mower just to make planting easier and stop things getting jammed up with long straws
Is the equipment available to purchase yet ? I’ve been waiting for a small scale grain drill, this is the first One I’ve seen. Earth tools has a crimper but what’s the point without a drill or transplanted.
Looks a bit cumbersome. How much time is actually saved versus an experienced farm hand transplanting by hand. This is the kind of technology that we need for small scale farmers. What you have there is very promising and I can see that you have put a lot of time and work into it. Keep improving on this.
