Alex: "If you win 4,987 more times, you'll have accrued 28 years on the clock to win a car. Gotta like your chances then, Diana." I was half expecting her to think she'd have a better chance at matching by calling "16 & 34," "28 & 67," etc.
15 number squares are in position. 40 seconds on the clock please. Good luck, off you go. 1, 2. no match 4, 5. no match 7, 1. no match 2, 7. That's a match 8, 1. That's a match 10, 11. no match 13, 5. no match 4, 13. That's a match 14, 15. no match 3, 15. That's a match 6, 14. 14. no match 9, 10. That's a match 11, 6. That's a match 12, 14?! AAA(THAT'S A MATCH!!!)AAAAAHHHH
I am sure the producers didn't really care. At that point it was almost a guaranty that someone would win a car on the next round anyways with that much time on the clock, then they would just reset the clock back to base time. So it is highly likely that they never really gave away an extra car by doing this. In addition there was clearly a technical difficulty and when mistakes happen on a game show you have to default to the benefit of the contestant to make sure that it is fair. Now they didn't have to let her pick any of the cars, they could have decided to just let her choose between the cars that were there when the monitor went down. Was nice of them to let her pick what she wanted.
Kind of like on “Jeopardy!” when Alex doesn’t like to penalize a contestant for an error that was made like Alex not explaining the category, not asking for “More Specific,” a clue that’s not worded right or accidentally saying the response before he calls on you.
@@marcpower4167 You saw it after that comment too with the "DYNOMITE!" and "LOOK WHO'S COMING DOWN!" comments. In ways it mighta been akin to his first season on Jeopardy as to the energy. That'd be about the equivalent of it for that era. He did shout at least once back then after a big win, like here in the show's first month back on air. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O7ck9MWnn6Y.html
