That'd be about the equivalent of it for that era. this is from 1987, when the players were allowed to win more than one car. Starting at the beginning of 1988, players retired from the show when they won a car(or won five matches)

@loutenore33 They should've kept the clock format at 35 seconds +5 seconds each time a car is not won instead of changed it to champions getting their own clock. Makes it too difficult, especially for newcomers, unless a car was won the game before.
the rules kept chaging very often frist it was you can be a champion 5 wins then the two strike rule then the best 2 out of three match rule witch was the longest format then the 2 strike rule again but the contestant had there own clock to work with and played till they lost or won the car in other words like 70s pyrmaid
