First time I heard this song was at the movies when it was part of the Soundtrack for a mountainbike movie on the European Outdoor Film Tour. Now, more than 10 years later I’m doing the moderation for the EOFT and every time we’re doing the setup, this song is played to get ready for the show.
@@acaughtfoxmexican war streets, red cow, dorothy, & blue hen - all back to back is definitely one of my favorite string of songs on an album by them. that & this album are by far my favorite. incredible.
It’s THAT song in the movie Life Cycles which is the best movie I ever have seen. Me and my wife has each two pennies crached into one as a wedding brace
It used to be as part of this big emo playlist, but it’s since been deleted. Nothing else from this album is on there either, at least here in the UK, so I’m guessing it’s licensing issues.
i have had this song stuck in my head for eleven hours straight and i would like to say that this song sounds more like an anxiety episode than anything else does, including the impossible mix of ra ra rasputin. props to MewithoutYou for writing a song that i'm incapable of removing from my head.
In a sweater poorly knit and an unsuspecting smile Little Moses drifts downstream in the Nile A fumbling reply, an awkward rigid laugh And I'm carried helpless by my floating basket raft Your flavor in my mind's back and forth between Sweeter than any wine and bitter as mustard greens And it's light as dark as honeydew and pumpernickel bread The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead Go plow some other field and try and forget my name We'll see what harvest yields, and, supposing I'd do the same I planted rows of peas, by the first week of July They should have come up to my knees But they were maybe ankle high Take the fingers from your flute to weave your colored yarns And boil down your fruit to preserves in mason jars And the books are overdue and the goats are underfed The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead You're a door-without-a-key, a field-without-a-fence You made a holy fool of me and I've thanked you ever since And if she comes circling back, we'll end where we'd begun Like two pennies on the train track, the train crushed into one But if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed If I come without a thing, then I come with all I need No boat out in the blue, no place to rest your head The trap I set for you seems to have caught my leg instead I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist I do not exist, I do not exist, I do not exist I do not exist, only you exist, I do not exist
There will never be anything like this, or Brother, Sister again. Thank you, mewithoutYou. Thank you for saving my soul and showing me to Him. You guys will be missed. mewithoutYou 2001-2022

Do you ever feel something from listening to a song? But you can’t pinpoint exactly what it is? Just a wave of emotion bursts through you. Either happiness or sadness or a little of both? Or maybe none of those at all. Like I said, you can’t pinpoint it. I feel this way when I listen to this song. There’s this bizarre beauty to it that encircles my headspace. I just don’t want to tie any exact words to it because I don’t want to ruin the feeling I get when I listen to it. 🖤
It's 2006. I am 19 years old and I have this album on CD and play it every morning I drive my baby brother to his elementary school in my '95 Mitsubishi clunker secondhand SUV. On the days I don't have to be at work for a while we take a detour to get Denny's for breakfast and we sing this song, the last track on the CD together, hitting every note and chord with our voices with precision. Now it's 2021 again and a bittersweet tear comes into my eye remembering such happy times
I fully understand. This is a great song. I lived in the suburbs growing up and was a huge fan of this band in high school, but this song hits much harder now that I live in the country some 13 years later. It's beautiful.
I've been trying to find information on how they made this scene in the film???? Becuz when the dog went in the elevator with the guy you could tell he was actually excited that the guy in the elevator was there, so I think the actor in real life actually spent time with that dog for the dog to comfortably jump on him like that. I was just wondering if there was a guy training the dog to bark in that scene to those actors
