do you have any gaming benchmarks with the eGPU connected? (vs the FW16 perhaps)

Thanks for the detailed readout of spec and data! just curious, if money is not an issue, will there be a choice of AMD GPU with higher price tag that can get a better perf readout? I want to restart some pc gaming session with this framework setup and am wondering should I buy a Nvidia 4000series or AMD graphics can provide any better performance since we have a AMD CPU....

damn, what a cool dad working out the best setup like a scientist so everything is ready to just be used :D would this also work on linux? or only windows (due to nvidia gpu?) maybe linux + amd egpu would the hot swap work ?

Id like to see how it works out as an R610 Gaming PC ,,,, Im a power user and R610 junkie and am curious how well R610 with a pair of X5690's for stones would do gaming and what video card it would take to accomplish this

I wonder how the magnetic usb-c cable head thing will hold up? A lot of people seem to complain about them dying over long term so not sure if I should try them! Would be a nice addition to my egpu setup as well!

Yeah... spare cable, connector and USB C modules are a must. At least it's all easily swap-able.

My biggest gripe with framework. Ok you're reparable, but at what cost? (literally). Say i'd be using it for 6 years, with that money i can buy other laptops once every 3 years and enjoy significant upgrade each time. And still you'd have to shell out more to buy modules upgrade and whatnot with framework. Anyway good video bro, had thought wondering about this some time ago

Upgradability doesn't matter much when you're met with "Here's a flowery explanation of why a better screen/pair of speakers/touchpad is difficult to make and why we won't be making it" every time...

yikes $2300. I can get 3 gaming laptop + 1 portable laptop for those prices. Or 1 amazing desktop + 1 amazing portable laptop
@ThreeDigitIQ
@ThreeDigitIQ 3 месяца назад
Close... $1415 for the laptop and dock.... The other parts $ would be the same for a desktop (power supply + 32GB DDR5 + 4TB Gen4 Nvme + 1440p Monitor + RTX 3070ti) A similar spec HP Omen 16 is ~$1700, but it's not repairable, up-gradable and is not exactly "portable". You are correct, the best alternative would be a super portable laptop and a kicking desktop in the dorm. However, my offspring didn't want two separate computers and doesn't want to rely in college wifi for a stable remote desktop connection back to the dorm desktop. Since my offspring got a really nice scholarship... I feel like the extra couple hundred $ was worth it as a graduation gift.

hmm great idea! nice testing and info. I was looking into this back with my Asus zenbook w/ 6700HQ :') but never proceeded with eGPU. Very excited to see USB4 & Windows have become so robust. The unplugging in the video made me freez for a sec :D.

I’ve wanted to minimize my set up and realized I don’t need a desktop a laptop and a server. Going through used laptops in short(er) intervals seems to make more sense to me, I think an egpu with my probook455 will be perfect. And with the ryzen 7 5825u it holds turn into a great server in retirement
@ThreeDigitIQ

be carefull... many probook 455 don't have USB4 or TB3/4

I've seen this idea for aircraft propulsion here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pALhUy-Fqs0.html Seems to me that if the blades have pitch control and can reverse, then 180 degrees of pivot would suffice.

I have been trying to get my RTX 3060 Ti to show up on a Supermicro X9DRH-7F which I bought on eBay but no luck even on OS boost. It works great on my socket 1200 build so I know there is nothing wrong with my GPU but no luck with the motherboard for the dual xeon build which I want to use it for. Any ideas??

This video is already a bit older but I just want to chime in. I have a CHG90 and also here, a firmware update gets refused due to not being availabel on the stick. Changing the characters CCAA to CCPA in the bin-file made it work. But seriously, how do you find out something like this? I was in contact with Samsung support and they didn't even mention it. I know very well why I usually try to avoid Samsung products. So far, everything from Smart Watches to printers to micro waves to mobiles to TVs has been very expensive crap sooner or later...

Very interesting way to do it. I would've personally spent slightly more (or shopped around more) for a server model w/ onboard 6 and 8 pin power. Still -- it works and it's functional That's what matters I'd never cut my 710, 720 or DL360G8 tho that's borderline server heresy lol

The r620 is newer than the r610... The r620 uses Intel C600 series chipset (Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 and E5-2600 v2 product families) i.dell.com/sites/content/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/dell-poweredge-r620-technical-guide.pdf The r610 uses Intel 5520 series chipset (Quad-core or six-core Intel Xeon processors 5500 and 5600 series) i.dell.com/sites/csdocuments/Shared-Content_data-Sheets_Documents/en/R610-SpecSheet.pdf
