Hey, i have a M52B28 in my E36 but it has an aluminium block. I am wondering if it can handle a turbo build or if i should get my hands on a iron block?
From what I've read, aluminum blocks aren't great for boost, the head studs are prone to being stripped out of the block when under boost, some people have drilled and tapped the block to use the s54 head studs but buying and using an iron block m52b28 is probably the cheaper and easier option depending on where you live.
in that case i would have to get my hands on a m50b25. difficult to get an iron block m52 here unless i buy and ship it from usa. i wanna build my first turbo engine and wanna put it in my e36
genuinely an insane but worthy build, also a lot of good motor building information/crazy failure points so thank you for that I'm gonna build something similar but in a m54b25 dual vanos setup
My 320!was a 81,so fun to drive, I did Graduate and then purchased a 91 325ic Red/Black top,The Poster picture ,I had that all spoilers out Black BBS,Stereo/Bass,,DFW🥃🔥💜🇺🇸
WOW that reminds me of my 320i back in 1985 Black/Gold BBS/Fulda Tires,4sp. It was slick for a freshman in College TCU💜,I now 40 yrs later I own now a 2000 E-38 750IL -V-12. TX🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🥃🥃,Titanium Silver/Black Leather/Crome package,,I love it now turning 59 yrs old in June💜💜💜👍🥃
I'm currently in the process of doing the same with my 06. It's only got 148k miles but the frame is shot thanks to the bastards at the DOT using all the corrosive shit on the roads.
I had the valve cover gasket done on my ‘01 740i a few years ago. Never had a problem since. Then all of the sudden I’m getting a lot of oil leaking from the underside of the engine about dead center almost. Could be a hose going to that transmission oil cooler. I don’t know yet. 21:57
It has to be close to impossible to have a car or truck that does not rust away from so far north and I guess on a quite nite you can hear that baby rust . Ha Ha !!!
Now is the time to get rid of that two piece drive shaft and mine came from East Texas Dodge drive shafts and with the ends of new drive shaft we’re from Dodge not used yoke and slide end and the tube is 5” diameter aluminum drive shaft and mines 5 yrs old and has been a very good up to now and not more carrier bearings and the two stacked up brackets and when you remove them clean and paint to keep the rust away and I could tell immediately no more vibration , so I hoe this help and I also put a fluid dampner and it made a difference to the old one was sheddings rubber fast. So hope this helps you with your project.
I wish you luck man. I’m planning on leaving my similar-ish build at the ~380hp @13psi mark for a long long time, only because even that in this chassis is a frickin blast, and it’s been crazy reliable so far. Happy to lend an ear if ya wanna bounce some ideas around for future builds!
Love the build I got a stage 2 AA rotrex 328i but my suspension is limiting me I feel. What suspension are you running/ bushing set up. Appreciate the help. Keep the verts aliveeeee😍😍😍
