This RU-vid channel is all about of my life balance and the way I express it. It is NOT only about motorbikes.
For years I have been providing for my family but not so much for myself. This channel is a way to balance and explore my personal skills and creativity along side work.
I do not like waste. I find joy in bringing things back to life. As a society we are becoming less and less connected to the things we use. The more we give up, the more others control. Stay grounded and keep as much control of your destiny through learning personal skills. You will watch me finding solutions to limitations, learning and making mistakes. That is ok. It is satisfying. Come along as I work toward our next journey where the phrase 'My Restoration' will make more sense.
My restoration - It is a constant redress toward a journey for creative achievement and contentment. You are most welcome to come along. Happy viewing!
My spokes on the rear wheel started to corrode, so I removed it, but now there's no zinc (or whatever) protecting the spokes, I can, I protect those spokes without disabling the rim? Honestly it's a little sym wolf 150cc, it's just a runabout and not worth spending hundreds of dollars on, but I do like it and do want to use it indefinitely.
Great job! As a 17 yr old kid in NZ raced the aircooled 81 RM250X, next yr got this 82 RM250Z firebreather. Stock except for a DG silencer. That thing hauled. Went to the US, bought a new 83RM500D, and wrecked my knee...career over lol. Good times.
@@MyRestoration1 with that fresh top end its a beast, yessir. Sounds like that original silencer is choked up....but beautiful original restoration AND you did it 1000 quid
I owned one, I had it on a trailer, stopped for lunch, it was less than 20 metres from me! I came out and it was gone. A bystander said 4 men with a light truck pulled up, undid the bike and lifted it into the truck in less than 90 seconds. I’ve never had as much fun on a bike since I lost that bike, it was great, it suited me to a T.
Hats off to your determination and patience. I couldn’t do it. When you factor in your time , it’s gotta be a labor of love because you would never make a profit on it
Thank you John? Yes I worked hard at it. To make a business of it? No. Just the idea that one day I would hear that engine run and then make it look better then what it’s market value claims is all I need. Restoring bikes for a living would be a fool’s errand. Carbon bikes yes! Thanks for chiming in
Great stuff and well presented (apart from the odd sound issue!) I assume that the spokes were plated steel and my only concern is they will tarnish very easily - maybe.
Thanks. I wasn’t aware of and sound issues..but I’ll review. Regarding the spokes. I’ve done a few like this over the years and so far they all still look fresh and new which is why I’m thinking they are stainless steel which was corroded but we will see in a few years!
You sir, are living my dream worklife. Having a workshop in surrey to do CF repairs on high-end pushbike frames, and having another next door to restore old motorbikes in! Amazing skills and excellent content on both channels.
Great result on the wheels and especially the spokes Rob 👍🏼 I followed your process on plastic restoration and got excellent results mainly with the wool polisher. Its a Suzuki TF imported from S.A. In yellow of course 😉
I just take the easy way out. I just go and see my mate Geoff at the car tyre place, who, for a chippy dinner, will stick them on a professional tyre 'Iron Man' machine, and have a pair of old tyres off in under a minute... ...does this make me a bad person? 🤔
Good idea but I will say that the amount of pressure I apply to the rim make no marks. These RM rims are very hardy but why not if you’ve got them use them! Thank you
If you're using / reusing the tapered head bearings shown in the video be aware that without modification of the steering stem the top bearing does not slide down far enough to adjust them correctly on assembly . Also check very carefully the swing arm bearing / housing as they kinda tend to fail / split ... I also reweld the outer brackets for the suspension arms outside & partially inside plus convert them to a spherical bearing as found in the top at the rocker assembly . Actually rebuild these to a decent race spec so I'll leave it there as you're going the restore yours .
Thanks, great to see you back, so much good advice for anyone following in your footsteps and rebuilding these bikes. Looking forward to the next film.
Again, fantastic content mate, there are a few channels that make me happy when i get a notification, and you sir are up there with the best, if not THE best😎, love your methodical approach to each and every task, honistly mate i enjoy every episode, i just wish they were longer😀👍👍
I don’t get why people criticise! They’re watching this for free. Advice, constructive feedback, sure! But, ‘hey this video I get for free is too short’, bizarre! Ignore them Sir and thanks for all the great work and brilliant videos. Take your time, I’ll be here whenever you post.
