One of the main reasons I enjoy your channel is that you use as much of the original parts, bolts, brackets, fasteners as possible, and if something needs replacing you source a used part and refurbish that. Too many restorations are over done with so many new parts thrown at it. The other thing is I learn so many tips and tricks from you 👍👍👍

Thank you for your encouragement. It goes a long way as these videos take some effort to make. Your comment makes it so worth the effort if I can help!

The attention to detail and ability you have to be able to transform something to how you vision it in your mind is unbelievable! Just raw talent and skills!

Loved watching this. I'm the lucky guy who bought a new '01 CR500 and it's still in my shed undercover zero hours 22 years on. Thanks for the post.

I might end up doing the same at the rate that parts are becoming harder to find..0 hours? Not heard that one before

Great job! Love it that you are trying to restore/repair parts, rather than buying new.

I like your thinking/ philosophy of restoration. To my mind the original parts are always worth preserving, even if they have a scars. Or maybe because they have scars ;-)

The true value of restoration is to have the bike as good as it can be with restored parts and reuse everything you can. Anyone can go and buy new bolt on parts and send out everything to be assembled. Congratulation to you can’t wait to see the CR when finished!

I sand Plexiglass screens, we use Megs PlastX. Autofiness Tripple is a polish, used on metal and plastic.

I love the videos you put out, great job on showing how you can repair and protect original plastic - I will definitely be saving these vids for future repairs of my own. Also, don’t worry about how much you’re smiling or whatnot - never even crossed my mind, and I say just be you and not feel you have to put on a “RU-vid personality”. That’s what I love about Allen Millyard for example - he’s just himself! You both seem like genuine guys who love what you’re doing

I love your videos, you’re a true artisan. I don’t know a great deal about engines, but I do love bikes. The thing with your Channel is- we always know you’re not going to take any shortcuts or settle, and that’s amazing to watch x

I really enjoy your appreciation for these motorcycles and the knowledge you share in your videos. The CR is coming together very nicely! Oh and no need to smile more....the lack of any pretentiousness on your channel is refreshing

I got into your channel because I own a '98 VFR800. (and loads of cycles!). The CR is definitely not my type of bike but the way you go about things, I really don't think it matters what bike you are working on. You always show stuff in a way that we can all appreciate and learn from. Keep doing what you're doing. 👍

One thing restorers seem to forget is the seat covers on all 80s dirt bikes, there were no visable stitching seams visable. The sleek look always impressed me about 80s bikes.👍🇺🇸🤠

Good job, I agree you want a ride able restoration not something you fear of scratching. I restored a 1976 Kawasaki Z900 A4. I fixed a lot of stuff as opposed to buying everything new. I used many online 2nd hand parts. Cleaned up well. It just takes time. This is the first time I have seen your channel. You are aware these bikes are insanely dangerous to ride don't you. Well done and good luck.

Hands down best model 500cc 2stroke made,, and the best looking, that blue seat and flash red plastics is pure retro bling and definitely an icon of the sport....I'm biased because I have one,LOL...if you want a set of newoem fork boots and oem front rear fender,for the old girl,,I'll sell them to you.

I like the idea of oil treatment every night for the tank. Not sure if the buffer pushes the oil in or if it takes it out.

Compulsive viewing ...and yes, Honda parts are expensive, so it's crucial to restore anything you can . I work a lot on Honda mowers ,the gearboxes are ridiculously expensive, so restoring them is an absolute must . Great viewing 👌

Can you braze the dents in the frame, silver solder, or metal coat hangers...grinder to shape.
@MyRestoration1
@MyRestoration1 10 месяцев назад
I thought of that but the alternative I chose supersedes this so I went for the epoxy base. Besides it can take a knock unlike any alloy I know
