Trouble with bouncing when there is a side-chain can be because of a multi-mono vs multi-channel plug-in. Other discrepencies in sound between bounce and print can be due to not using delay compensation. Workflow issues like having multiple mix versions are easily dealt with through other workflows like "import audio after bounce".
given that there aren't any sonic differences between bouncing/printing - it's actually still faster to offline bounce the mix, import to new track, and create playlists to have your mix history in the session for referencing. same result, much less time spent waiting 🤝
I got the chance to buy Nimbus and R4 before they were discontinued, I accidently got them in an Izotope bundle for $30. Like wow I'm so lucky, you'd easily spend $400 for equivalents....
Wow, nice video, Blackhole is on sale so I thought I would have a listen and eh, the first few bars and I'm sold.....I'll take a look at Crystalline one day when I get some more pocket money to blow on VST's! 😅
Well, I’ve tried Vahalla room and vintage verb, have the Bigsky hardware, blackhole(on ipad), uad plate140/250 and I just love valhalla vintage verb. Seems to have all I need. Bigsky would be second, but will not buy the software for obvious reasons.
I'm definitely leaning towards the NDH 20s as a daily driver (on the bus, out and about, etc) plus it seems like it's a great tool for mixing and mastering in spite of being a little pronounced in bass. I do love that bass when I'm out though (had some Skull Candy Crushers that delivered that once). These being closed-back with a good seal is a huge pro for me too. The only con for me might be the extra long cord to tie up. I'm curious (for anyone reading), do you know what tracking means? Is that playing an instrument and recording it in real time on a DAW? I'm a bit new to the mixing world. 😕
Thanks for this, despite what everyone says, I always wondered why my bounces sounded so weird when listened to away from the project session. I check both one time and noticed massive phase issues and other shit when played together. I printed a track and checked, no phase issues no weird changes, no changes in the wave form or transients either. I get why they do a live print over bouncing. It can be for numerous reasons why a bounce changes the mix, but im glad printing fixes this issue.
Very nice and professional review. Thanks for that Daniel! There are so many great reverbs out there these days. Never mentioned, however, is the MeldaProduction Turbo Reverb, which sounds so incredibly beautiful and can be adjusted forever.
Very impressive! I like the build-up to a wall of sound, and the interesting chords. I composed the following song using Micah's Choir - Sustain Oohs Looped: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SSbsre3EZ0o.html For the first minute, it's just Micah's Choir with nothing else, then I add a few other instruments.
That Pro Vla ii really does sound great on you. Nice full midrange, with smooth but clear highs that are rolled off a little. Good dynamics control of course as well. Oh and the quadra sounds nice! Especially now that you can get it and 2 other cherry audio synths for $20 in the humble bundle.
Do you think it makes sense to use upwards compression on a solo piano track? If so, how? I fail to achieve the -14 LUFS for the streaming platforms usually because the peaks are too high and I don't have more room to increase the loudness of the overall track. I would love to produce solo piano tracks like Gibran Alcocer, don't know if you are familiar to this artist. Looking forward to watch more of your videos. Subscribed!
Sure, you definitely could. I actually love the sound of OTT on piano. (Light settings of course.) Also, I would use a buss compressor and a final stage limiter to get your track loud enough.
You got a sub & like just because you made a track using this machine .. in a world where most just go through the presets without talking this is what we need :)
This is all well and good for certain situations like if you only have about 20 tracks or so but it makes NO sense if you have like over 100 tracks you have to reassign to a mix buss for this kind of bounce. That would just be a nightmare
Hey Tuesday is great.! A new Daniel Willet track! Love it. Its really hypnotic at the start and them those amazing vocals kick in. This is an awesome track!!!
Thank you Echoes! I stacked my voice with several tracks in the middle section and mixed it with some Spitfire choir voices. I had a lot of fun making this one! I’m glad that you’re enjoying it! 😊💥
Great video. Among all the reverb plugins I own, the BigSky is the best. By far! I wish they will also release their flagship delay as a vst. I even emailed them personally. 😅
Reviews… lol… I just heard someone tear apart the NDH 30 more than I’ve ever heard anyone tear apart any piece of equipment. He HATED it and still liked it more than the NDH 20. I will soon be proud owner of both, either the 30s being new to me. I think I’ll like them, I liked the 20s. He talked about how he believes the NDH 30s are more for audio files than professional, audio, engineers, and how flat the sound was how dead it was … but to my understanding, the purpose of pro engineer headphones are to have the most realistic example of the sound with no equalize- flat as possible. I’m about to listen to your review now and it sounds like you’re a much bigger fan of them than this other guy was . Honestly I think I’ll be happy with them. I also noticed that the 20s have slightly too much bass. Other things the reviewer was disappointed in were the long length of the wire which I happened to like a longer wire and despise shorter wires- also he was unhappy that there was only one earplug for the wire and that it was on the side. It’s on…. He wanted the plug on the other earphone because that’s what he’s used to with most professional models and he’s also used to seeing a wire that is if not on both sides able to be plugged in on either side. These are issues. He also complained about the padding on the top of the headphones being uncomfortable. Although I have only used the 20s, I have been quite happy with the padding in terms of comfort anyway. SOURCE: den-fi.com/neumann-ndh-30/amp/
Have your earmuffs ever come off on the NDH20? If so how do you get them back on- mine have perpetually fallen off, and it has become increasingly disruptive to work. I do however like the quality and sound of them.
