Here you can clearly see exactly what i mean from my comment in the elevated pike pushup and why its wrong. Here u clearly end the pushup with the head between the arms when fully stretched, unlike what you are doing in your pike pushups.
I dont like your form. It does not illustrate a progression to the actual movement which is handstand pushup. When you are pushing, your head is still outside your arms when they are fully stretched which is wrong (IMO) It should be a fluid push to the point that when your arms are fully stretched, then your head is also in between your arms and no more movements is taking place. Thats not what you are doing. If you were to press a bar above your head, you would also not press it above and in front of your head and then use your shoulders in the end to move it over the head. That makes no sense. Same mistake was made in the other pike pushup video u made.
i understand where you're coming from. Pressing a bar overhead and a handstand push up requires different mechanics. Pressing a bar overhead requires no balance, however when you're in a handstands it does. Due to an elevated pike push up being an easier progression than a normal hspu, im exaggerating the forwards lean to load the delts more (personally a weak area for me and for the people that i've taught) This is a very generic video and all cues don't apply to everyone. Yes, it might not be the same as someone else's method, but everyone has a different way of going about their practise. When balance is added into the mix, in order to stop the heels from drifting overhead and sending you into that banana position when pushing back up, i find it easier to keep my head infront of the hands and pushing directly up from where i place my head on the floor. I have a tendency of using my arch in the lumbar to get a bit of momentum when pushing up from the bottom. So in order to achieve this skill from my specific body type, I have learnt to keep my head and shoulders further forwards. I still follow a similar pathway in the end but it might look slightly. One way isn't the only way. Everyone has a different body structure that might require different adjustments in order to complete the drill. Depends how anal you wanna be about, im still pressing up and i have done multiple handstand push ups learning this way, so is it really wrong? Handstand push ups are a skill as well as raw pushing strength.
@@lewisyost2616 You are just arguing against yourself now. Iv also commented on a video where u do HSPU and does exactly like im explaining you are suppose to do. But when u do pike pushup that requires very little balance if any, versus a free HSPU then u dont do it. How is that?? A progression is suppose to mimic the end goal as much as possible. So to me it makes zero sense that you are not performing the movement here just as and actual HSPU would be performed. Thats my point. It sounded to me like u may have missed that from my OP.
@@luffebassen was never arguing just giving my point of view. I get what you mean. It doesn't have to make sense, your way of thinking is different to mine.
@@lewisyost2616 Ofc it has to make sense. Otherwise you might as well jump up and down while thinking it will improve your HSPU. But nvm. You are free to do whatever obviously. I just know that none of the bigger channels like Fitness FAQ would approve of this and then its not hard to judge who might be correct in the optimal path here.
@@luffebassen If i was to make a proper tutorial on how to hspu, i would go into much more detail and go into more reasoning behind why i do it certain ways. This isn't the generic way of doing a hspu. These short videos I make aren't for youtube, i just upload them onto here to make it easier for clients to watch. If someone can benefit out of it as a result of watching it and picking up a cue, even better! This video was made for a client of mine with specific imbalances. Im sure FitnessFAQ's video would be much better for the general population. If you don't like what you see on here feel free to dislike and unsubscribe. I know my reasoning behind things.
this is dope Man, been working on my handstand for almost an year now, working torwards straddle oahs, it's so motivational watching you man keep it up
