Does that transmission has two plugs on the driver side input and output speed sensor because mine only has one and the only reason why it has one because it's a different transmission my original transmission had two plugs input and output
While typing out this reply I am going through my videos it looks like there is going to be about 6 parts. It's really hard to just skip over any of it because there is so much that is useful but missing in other videos. Other than the fact that I'm so busy with life getting the way of editing these videos the quality is poor due to me having neighbors with constant barking dogs. I recorded all of the footage just to find out that 85% of it I could here their dogs in the background...
I'm sorry to inform you that the fuel door on my 2003 (#6330) has a non locking fuel door. They must have changed that detail near the end of the 2003 production run? Just putting that bulkshit detail out there! Thanks for the video.
Doing a manual swap on the Marauder is kinda tricky but definitely worth doing it. It’s a lot of fun to drive. Definitely consider going with 4.10 gears. you will not be disappointed.
@ProjectMercuryMarauder sweet! I already have the 4.10's with Detroit tru-trac. I'm currently doing the rear upper and lower control arms, watts link, and coil over system. The manual swap is next. What exhaust are you running?
I Have had a 2004 since new the only real difference that makes a difference is the traction control delate switch on the dash. I can't believe that anyone would change the radio in a 2004 as the radio with cassette and 6 CD in the trunk is just awesome and looks great in the dash

@@ProjectMercuryMarauder The 300a and 300b package is something I never heard before, I have to read up on this. AS far as I know the only options on the 04 were the sunroof and 6 CD changer and choice of 2 interior colors. You forgot to mention the leather jacket that was given to the original owner, I Guess now more rare then the car is LOL
@@peterpark3656 thank you I work on cars for a living, so I have a understanding when it comes to doing stuff like this it’s pretty simple. There’s a couple of tactical things that you have to use the tape measure on, but that’s about it.
What a great find! Had a Fiesta ST and currently have a 16' Focus ST. They are truly great cars and most of all, very fun to drive. Are you still looking for an oem ST shift knob?
They are definitely fun to drive! As for the shift knob I found one off of a Fiesta ST. I’m still got a couple of parts I’m looking for such as the ST engine beauty cover air box lid and battery box cover. How was the Fiesta ST? My brother wants to buy a ST but got criticism from his gf when he bought a Marauder like mine and so he was thinking about a Fiesta instead…
Wonderful job on the conversion. Looks like it came from the factory that way. I have a 2003 as well, and the 410 gears with the Marty tune absolutely wake the car up.
The only axle ratio available for the Marauder was the 3.55:1 and they only had 28 spline axles my suggestion is if you are changing the gear ratio use time to buy a drop-in 2003 2004 cobra LSD those are 31 spine and then you’ll have to buy new axle shafts and about $150 each. When I went to the 4.10 gears in mine. I did the 31 spine cobra limited slip differential I spent about $900 total in parts and then I installed it myself if you’re not savvy in using precise measuring equipment I would have somebody else install the gears for you so probably add another $800 labor to that and then you’ll have to have the transmission shift points and speedometer adjusted as well Marty Ochs with Mo’s speed shop can do the tuning.

I just am so busy that I forgot to reply you earlier… I have stainless works long tube headers with catted down pipes factory exhaust from the flange back. with the exception of knock off magna flow mufflers they are straight through mufflers from dynomax. I think they’re called ultra flow. Still have factory resonated tips intact.
Thanks, I do DoorDash on the side to help supplement things when car sales are low. My current beater car is a 2008 Mercury Milan and I’m giving it to family down in Southern California and I needed something as a replacement. Besides I wanted to get into something that could keep up with the Marauder but still be economical enough for my hundred plus miles daily driven commute.
Yes it is very possible to put a 6r80 or 10r80 in one of these cars. US Shift. super cool and props for creating and finishing such a project. a little sad that a maruder was used though. personally id drop a 32v in a standard panther body. Again though, props for completing it and not letting your dream stay in your head.
That’s what I thought too! lol The silver Mercury Milan in the beginning I bought for $700 through the same auction about 4 years ago with a clean title needed a little transmission work sent it in and had it rebuilt and it’s been a great little daily that allowed me to do things to my 03 Marauder such as 4.10 gears longtube headers and a 5 speed manual transmission swap.
My preference is always to make my machines more fun to drive whenever I spend on them. Especially if I'm going to rack up some miles hours at a time. Looks are way down my list.
That is one way to put it. I just got done manual swapping my 2003 Mercury Marauder, so I definitely get that! lol It has been something that I was planning to do for many years, but it still worked in automatic form when the transmission failed that just gave me the excuse to finally do it.

My blown tire for my 70’ Mark III Continental ended up being unrepairable, too big of a hole, so I ended up having to buy a new spare, and replace the one that was blown 🫠 What was the name of the tire place you mentioned? I forgot to write it down, and also what kind of tires did you have on the 65 marauder? Classic Marauder belt squeak between gears when shifting hard. Mine even does it with a new belt and tensioner 😂 The car sounds awesome BTW, what’s the exhaust setup?
Hey... Great job turning an auto into a manual. I have a 2004 Marauder with 4:10 gears. It's fine only because it has overdrive. MPG is only a few miles less then stock gears. It had over 400.000 miles before the timing chain and tensioners went. Its sitting right now. It still runs. Trying to figure out if I want to put in a new engine. I want to keep it as stock as possible. If I don't sell it. I would not let it go for less then $4,500.
I’ve done several engines on these cars in the last 9 years they’re not too bad to do, pretty easy job. Go for another engine that you can make ready and swap it in although the timing chains and tensioners can be done in the car from personal experience it’s easier to pull it out and do it that way and it’s far less risky. Keep the mileage ticking! I’m not slowing down with mine lol
4.10s are at MINIMUM in my opinion. My stock 3.27s were worthless, if leaving stock gears it will be a lot slower taking off over the auto.(Marauder is going to be a little better) Minus fabricating the pedal assembly (which I did months prior while sourcing parts to doing the swap, I have around $1k into my swap total) I did the swap in like 6 hours. I have done a few transmission replacements on panthers and with removing the wiper cowl it's cake. (Also makes it much easier to reinforce the firewall and drill the adjuster) the hardest part of the swap is removing the damned trans cross member 😂 For the remote shifter i bought a Chinese T5 shifter and cut the ball so nothing was protruding and fabricated a bridge with bushings to pivot and used angle iron bolted to the trans through the shifter bolts and ran back with the cut shifter mounted on top of the rails. There's a lot more than 2,000 marauders out there left. I also never thought I'd ever hear someone describe a panther as "light and nibble" 😂 (no offense). My advice for you is get 20s with 285/30 in back 245/35 up front and it really tightens up the float.
You beef up/balanced metal matrix P71 drive axle? If not, 4.10s spin drive shaft too fast for given higher speed. It will crater. And can crater other items on the drive train.
Thanks for the comment, I am just running the factory aluminum drive shaft. I have in the past with the auto found the critical driveline speed. The charts say it’s at 116 mph but that’s for a CVPI 26.9 inch diameter tire not the standard 28.6 inch diameter tires on the rear of the Marauder so I don’t get vibrations until 125 mph and in the nine years of me driving this car I’ve only had it up that fast a couple of times. But I would still like to locate a MMX driveline because I’d like to start participating and even making videos in and around spec p71 race events. A couple friends of mine participates in those events and rarely if never go above 125 mph usually about 110 or so but I wouldn’t do that unless I was to get one of those drivelines.
