Anyone who says the 2.0 is better because it's quicker as no clue about engines and has probably never driven a vr in any guise it's not about the speed it's the overall experience it gives
Are you on drugs?????????!!!?? comparing a 3 cilinder screamer to a 4 cilinder and saying the 3 cilinder is better??? whahaaaaahaaaaaaaaa , really?? And another thing the Suzuki is superior in reliability , the Ford will break down 100% !! The Swift is a spacy car and the Fiesta a little city car and nothing else , sorry to say what a ridicoulous comparison ...................
great review, but on thing about the downforce, this is often mentioned about FWD cars, and actually the scenario where downforce is contributing to the traction of the rear wheels is few and far between on road cars. the wing is usually contributing more to the straight line stability and cornering grip rather than traction, due to the fact that at slow speeds where you need the traction, you don't have enough speed to generate any downforce anyway. obviously in super cars this plays a bigger part with traction at higher speeds.
Sounds good because of the staggered vr formation, it's all acoustics when it comes to the formation, pipe length, and cylinders, hight of the car too.
Only thing that makes this car look old is if you look at headlights from distance... it has old car vibes because of them. But if you look at front from little bit side then it compares with modern cars and often it does look better than them. Its a 2006 design and we have 2024 and it aged very well.
I have an MX5 ND 2.0 RF with ohlins suspensions, 4-1 header and some other little upgrades. I've never driven a Z4 but i must say its a very good looking car. So respect. But i could hardly think to change my beautiful Soul Red Mx5. I love it
This used to be mine (yes the exact car in the vid) 😢 sadly sold it in 2020 after 8 years of ownership and miss it everyday. Watching the new owner drive it away broke my heart. They aren’t the fastest or the most modern but they have so much character that new cars can only dream of having. Very expensive to maintain/tax and insure but worth every penny for that beautiful vr6 engine noise. I miss my baby 😭
I can relate, its my dream car since I was 6 years old back in 2000. Only sat in one once, never driven one. Had many opportunities to drive newer M-cars, but never an e39 M5. Seems like my dream to own one comes true this year, as I turn 30. One of my biggest unfullfilled life-goals beside my marriage, birth of my son and bulding my house. 😄 The M5 always had to wait.😢
After I learnt to drive I bought a 34bhp 1971 VW Beetle , covering 20 000 miles a year. It taught me more about the finesse and skill of car control than any hot hatch could today!
The mk3 mx5 with the 2.0 litre engine puts out about 170 hp . The same as the bmw 2.2 z4. The bmw is a 6 cylinder engine, it costs more to service and is heavier on fuel. The mx5 is basically a Ford the parts are cheaper. It has a Ford engine, Ford suspension, Ford brakes. It’s cheaper to run ,it has the same performance. It’s a no brainer go with the Mazda.
Hey Jack, sad to see you stopped uploading. I even checked the Electroheads channel and can’t see you in any videos in the past 2 years or so. It’s a shame as I LOVE your mk5 gti videos. Are you still alive or just too busy with other stuff?
The Swift all day long cos its built in Japan and looks 1 million times better. Just load a stage 1 and put a decent exhaust, done. Its hard to find another fun competitor at the price of the SSS. Oh, and did I mention Japanese, they wont break either.
I've had one since 75k and now sold it at 105k. Haven't had any major issues on mine at all, was services regularly at a main dealer. Very expensive car to run and maintain but the sound of the engine makes up for it, definitely worth it. Was instantly sad when I saw it drive away the last time
Had 2 EP3's, and 2 FN2... would never go back to EP3 - twitchy, narrow and long thing. Late v-tec and genrally good only for track. Even on rallies its got a reputation of a killer car, as its very unstable at high speed and very unpredictable for FWD car. It will be neutral, but at very slightest lift off it will kick the back out massively. To do this in FN2 you will have to do left foot braking, but this is much more controllable. I couldn't get why there is a such a hype about EP3. On top of hat it does not age well - in 2020's loks like something out of 90's 😀
