It's incorrect to call Mau Mau a Kikuyu rebellion as you do in this episode. The Mau Mau army featuring at the outset of your narration is Meru, and similarly other pictorial citations in the development of your video, are not Kikuyu. The Meru featured prominently in the Mau Mau from early the beginning of the rebellion, right to independence. Embu people shouldn't be in a footnote either, as they and Meru often are, but your presentation doesn't mention either people at all.
Algeria was only a colony of France until 1848. After that it became a department and was on the same footing as every other departement of France. By incorporating the colony into the very fabric of the nation, its ability to regain independence was hampered immensely. Imagine the struggle Florida would have if it declared independence versus the Philippines - sure there was struggle but they're independent (well, technically).
