I just picked up a September leather for my new site supervisor job. I agree, it’s not as nice as travelers company, but it gets the job done and still feels good. I do like how it has multiple elastics too. I also am tempted to get an olive😂 Maybe later, but September leather without a doubt is great bang for your buck
@@manvstationery it does remove scratches and makes it an even colour. I love it, but you may prefer the more rugged look. Problem is there is no going back once you apply the cream.
This satisfies my need to have stuff organised but I have such a big pile of hardback A5 to use for now I might have to look at this again. This is B5 yes?
Amazon states it A5 and does hold an A5 book but i seem to remember when i tested it being a little tight. Full spec can be found here - amzn.to/4c4Ha3u
I've got a dedicated ink journal too and a similar set-up. I've found it really helpful when choosing ink for pens, as I can see what I enjoyed previously. It might be worth just writing a few words about how you like the pairing. This is Very interesting to me.
Interested in your opinion on these... I haven't really got into the BuJo scene but I like the simple twist of turning these on their end to get the A5.
If that is half of an A5 size, then is it actually A6 size and not a true pocket size like the Field Notes size?? I have a really nice travellers notebook cover from Speckled Fawns that i picked up second hand and its pocket sized and fits 4 Field Notes or 3 Field Notes and even a Pocket Diary, but not sure an A6 size will actually fit. Almost went to go buy one before the video ended, but thinking its too big. Looks great though
I use the passport size traveler's notebook like that. It's okay. It feels like more room because you treat it as one big page instead of two small ones, which I'm sure is good for your brain to think it has more space when generating ideas. And it's fun to flip through later, but overall it is a little awkward and it takes some getting used to for sure.
Oh I'm far from perfect. And over the years I've fallen off and picked it up many times. But it's not how many times that you fall that matter it's how many you get back up 👍
To be honest waterproof never bothers me as I never intend to get enough water on a page that it washes the ink off. So I simply pick an in I like, at the moment I'm using Robert Oster bronze
I got a travelers company one for personal use, but you’ve got me thinking about getting an Amazon one for work as well. I’m also in construction. Love your content.
I ordered the exact same make and model. A couple of observations. NOT criticisms but just to help you make a decision. I thought the placement of the wrapping cord out the spine instead of Midori out the middle of the back flap to be a smarter. Just know when your planner is opened flat, the bulky edge protector (a great idea) will be a large bump under one side. Sadly there are no longer page marker strings which is a miss. The paper and card stock covers of the inserts are STIFF. I may have been spoiled being a Hobinichi Techo user for years and that Tomoe paper is beautiful. They just got out of reach costs wise for this ol'guy. Thanks for making your videos, Man. Subscribed
Yeah thanks for the input. The band on the spine is great and I 100% agree the band protector gets in the way but for the versatility of it I'm happy with that negative.
Great review thank you. I was really interested in buying a Midori, but your review of the September Leather version convinced me that I would be paying more for a brand name (Midori) over a superior product (sept Leather). I prefer the fact that the Sept LEather can take more inserts due to the slightly over larger leather, and the fact that it has 4 elastic bands in the spine to hold the inserts rather than just one in the Midori.
You can actually get a wax treatment in a can. (Not boot Dubbin - doesn't dry/evaporate) I use it for my cowhide rain jacket. If you put it one too heavily, just give it a day or two to soak in.
@@manvstationery I'm still looking for my can and if I locate it, I'll post the name. I'm sure there are many and me being in Canada, might not be universal
@@manvstationery Found it! "authentic dry feel reproofing cream" Made by Australian Outback. So there ya' go. I use it on my lined leather coat and also on my oilskin rain hat. Cheers
Also highly recommend you get the clear case for it! As far as for your travelers notebook highly reccomend the Galen small notebooks. Lovely paper and fits my passport like a dream
It's interesting how different people are and they way we use different notebooks. I do love leather, leather is great (that's probably why my favorite notebook system is a TN) but when in comes to the Field Notes, I love the way this notebook ages, gets wear and tear, all the marks and signs of use.
I bought one of these from priory leather after seeing you show it briefly On another video. It cost £25.99 delivered.. I’ve been carrying mine in my back pocket for around a month now. I’m happy with it, I just wish he had made it a little wider.. I’ve got field note size notebooks (other brands) that are too tight for the cover, so I removed a few pages so the book goes in and can get it out! However my flame tree books won’t go in at all. Good job I have lots of others 😀
I picked it up on amazon - www.amazon.co.uk/Refillable-Leather-Journal-Travelers-Notebook/dp/B07CNTK4JQ/ref=sr_1_5?crid=S9N58ZISCEVA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.sdPg9t4QJwZWLnhl4mtK3MVJWRPKqBULeS1BPbCjD3kc8ZtypRvb20Q3ygQx4nh00Sf2gd-eM7nyIZRJCMyfTZarqiPfTjcTvAaR-moGocqda1qhR2o4YzP7UgxKa3tMzcPfehkVi0Fi167jbPblZJMbSgq64ovIQL7cEussDJ4VNL8eSUAsLKRumaFeygywm5mJ1EKy-9T0n_ezbiRZBTyHkawMbQWgeOYLrNiK6ECwDyiyxEuqc4uxLZzmgmGFwFOQEJaP3mm26t2qrz0nMDzyiZ1bJv4UmFylf293ESk.Y1z4Bq80f7RtokDKVcZiuQAlhS6eRWhMB6hAxWiM4yk&dib_tag=se&keywords=travelers+notebook&qid=1714667727&sprefix=travler%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-5
@@manvstationery Easy to do. When I do mine into a phone, I've learned to script a rough draft. Otherwise, I wander. I think you're doing a good job of covering the bases...especially going down the stationery rabbit hole.
